WWE.com is reporting it.

WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.

Insane!

Welcome back Rated M.

This is weird he was just on WWE TV Raw and at Mania, just to die a few days later? I call conspiracy .

Illuminati did it. Y'know, because he was a former member.

On a serious note, this is devastating news. I was chatting away with Andy about three hours before this news broke out, talking about how we both marked out at Wrestlemania and on the Raw following 'Mania. I loved the guys persona and it helped make me the wrestling fan I am to this day.

Parts Unknown needs their man back I guess... RIP.

So he was at the HOF, then Mannia, then on Raw and 24 hours later he's dead? Something slightly suspicious about that.

At least fans of his got to see him in the WWE one last time.

You talk about conspiracy, and the transcript of what he said on Raw doesn't help to dispel that theory... But eerie when you read what he says, knowing he would die 24 hours later..

“No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe a final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend markers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. Ultimate. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans. And the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever!”

And for those who missed his last ever Public Appearance

Some guy posted this photo on Twitter on Tuesday morning saying he had just met The Warrior in the airport... This was hours before his death

TMZ reporting that Warrior collapsed outside a hotel in Arizona whilst walking to his car with his wife

This is so devastatingly shocking.  I mean the guy was JUST on raw. He just got inducted into the hall of fame. Ans his speech on Raw has just nade this even more crazy.

I wonder if it was suicide.... could have easily took a killer dose of medicine.  Wouldnt like to think that but the speech on raw...

Regardless the man is at peace now. Rest in Peace Warrior. Tragic news.

We wanted the Warrior but that old dude upstairs, chief of Parts Unknown, wanted it's most charismatic man back and when the time comes, you just have to go I guess.

It's been a few hours since the news came in and I still haven't gotten over it. I haven't been this shocked since Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit passed away.

Posting again, because i have real thoughts now... and i do want to apologize to Rated M, i didn't mean to come across as rude or anything.. i was so shocked and at the same time wanted to bring up that one time when kondor told everyone that you died and it was official... so it was just odd, anyways welcome back it's not what it use to be here... but it's still 4w.

I marked out on raw for warrior, i thought it was great and took me back to being a kid again.... i was happy he made peace with wwe and would be around here and there now... i went to a hockey game last night... came home around 11 or whatever... checked out 4w and Rated M, broke the news to me when i saw this thread i thought what the hell? this better be a joke... and i went to  wwe.com and a few other sites but really only wwe.com had any info for about 10 or 15 mins and then every website was aware of his death....

made a facebook on the matter, seemed to have broken the news to a couple people there too... i'm upset really... life can be very cruel.. i keep thinking of his wife and kids... its so heartbreaking.... i could go on and on about memories and how much i liked the warrior growing up but i wont... i had some good laughs at him too.. but i never hated the warrior... and i always felt it was crazy talk when people would say his matches with Hogan at Wm6 and Savage at WM7 was trash... thats silly.

Here today and gone tomorrow really echoes in my ears right now....

considering within the last month i became a wrestling fan again after nearly 3 years... it's been emotional... i even stayed up way later then i wanted to so i could watch the warriors induction saturday night.

I wish his family the very best and hope they can cope through this horrible time.... i know what it's like.... it's very dark now.. but the sun will shine on them again.

RIP Warrior.

it's hard to explain to others who don't get it when you shed a tear over the death of a man you never met... it's kinda like saying growing up this was my superman and spiderman or whatever you want to call them... those characters might die in a story but they never stay dead... wrestling is also real life.. when they die.. they don't come back....wrestling has broken my heart a few times now.. even though it's not anyones fault.

I started watching wrestling way after Warrior's day (1998) so I didn't see him growing up (though I do have some memories of Hogan runnin' wild around 1990-1992).  My first experience of Warrior came from the Playstation game "WWF: In Your House", a terrible beat 'em up.  I don't know who's played it, but when you select your character, Vince's voice says the name (like in Mortal Kombat).  I always loved choosing "this Ultimate Warrior guy" because Vince's voice would go "TTTHHEEEE UUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLTIIIMMMAAAAAAAATTTEE WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRR".

I've seen some of Warrior now on DVD, and I like him.  Yeah he was no Chris Jericho or CM Punk, but he didn't have to be.  He was the other side of wrestling, the colourful, fun, OTT side of wrestling.  He was the side of wrestling that cheers us up, helps us to forget all of our problems and lets us have some fun.  He had loads of energy and charisma, and a great presence.

One thing I'll always love about him is the gimmick.  He sums up all the glorious 80s cheese that I love so much.  He's those 80s hair metal bands and the OTT Arnie movies incarnate.  I love the hair, the make-up and the colourful tassles.  I love the promo pics of him from the 80s full of smoke, lasers and space.  I love the way he runs to the ring and shakes the ropes.  It's glorious, it's epic, and I think only he could pull it off.

I don't know the full ins and outs of Warrior's falling out with Vince, but I'm so happy they managed to bury the hatchet and make peace before Warrior left us.  It allowed him to have closure and leave us happy.  I just wish some of the others like Macho Man could've had the same.

I hope people don't think this is in bad taste, because I really don't mean it to be.  The Wrestling Meme group on Facebook had a mock tweet that really made me laugh.  It's from "Jesus" saying "Some crazy mofo in face paint and arm bands just crashed through the Pearly Gates and power-slammed St. Peter".  It made me smile because I can actually imagine it.

Snake.  I was just giving you a hard time.  I was kind of embarrassed by my friends prank.  I was annoyed at the attention getters out there who post something like that or whatever.  So I shied away from returning.

Then July. 2012.  My partner of 12 years.  Whom I was with since I was 18 took his own life - taken a huge toll on me.  Even now.  But this place was always home.  Good to see familiar faces though.

Sorry kinda took over warriors spot.

He is the reason I began watching wrestling.  Undertaker put him in that casket and roddy, Vince, and macho man sold it as if he was dead. I was just a kid.  From there I went back and watched (rented) every ppv before that time to learn about characters.  That was the impact on me. But he later called homos filthy and I was done with him.  But he is the reason I watched.

The timing of this is just so unreal. Inducted into the Hall of Fame, appears at Wrestlemania in front of 100,000+ live audience and many million at home, epic speech on Raw and then dies all in the space of 72 hours. Buries the hatchet and makes peace with the WWE and all the fans, especially after that mean vicious personal attack Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD. What a way to go out. Thank fuck he hadn't died four days earlier.

I remember when Classy Freddie Blassie was on Raw one night and then died within a month and I thought that was unreal timing.

Still can't believe this lol.

Warrior clocking out was obviously a shock after the whole weekends festivities. Watching his RAW spot back again, it does look odd the way he lumbered to the ring & wouldn't shake the ropes properly. And he was out of breath by the time he started talking & his face was bright red. But going by his WWE 2K14 advert, he was still in good condition physically. Unless there was some kind of underlying medical issue, they knew about and wanted to get all the bridges rebuilt for after he had gone. I've been watching his new DVD for the past week. The first few matches are bloody terrible but they get better as they go along and he evolves in the wild maniac of the late 80's, early 90s. There was a unique show he did 18 months ago where he took emo/metal bands and put them through a training regime he had made. Shouting, screaming & swearing at them to push their bodies to the limits.

I'm in the same boat as others, having never really seen much of the Ultimate Warrior's work. I did see a DVD on him years ago which left me with his greatest in-ring name ever, the "Dingo Warrior". Snake truly put it best. These guys are our version of Spiderman, Superman, Batman, but in the flesh and bone. People can say what they want about wrestling fans because let's be honest, it's not the 1980's, and it sure as hell isn't the Attitude Era, so wrestling isn't exactly the cool thing in pop culture. But these are guys that go out there, hundreds of days a year, bust their ass, all to put a smile on our face. Sure, there's money involved, but tell that to John Cena who does a Make-a-Wish about every twenty minutes.

As for the Ultimate Warrior, it is such a sad, yet storybook ending for the man from Parts Unknown. After finally making peace with everyone, he got to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, make a WrestleMania appearance, and one final speech on RAW for the whole world to take notice of. I personally think maybe Warrior was on borrowed time, and while some people may think forces outside of our control don't exist, here's my point to prove otherwise. He was finally able to fulfill the ending to his story, and I agree, it is a shame that people like Savage couldn't do that, but look at the big picture. At least the WWE is starting to reach out to those people. They didn't necessarily HAVE to reach out to Warrior, or Bruno, but they did, and good on the WWE and even Triple H who I heard was a big part of bringing Warrior in.

It just goes to show how much the business takes out of people. They give a lot to us, but we the fans make them larger than life. If it wasn't for us chanting YES, Daniel Bryan's dream could be just to be the opening match at WrestleMania. It's an art form, a craft that we take for granted. One day, our current superstars time will come to an end. Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, Triple H, the list goes on and on. All we can hope is that we gave them the respect that they truly deserve and they know that their memories will live on forever.

I also saw it posted elsewhere that Vince said to Warrior Saturday night "I've always loved you. I may not have liked you sometimes, but I always loved you."

That is what professional wrestling is all about.

Whatculture.com have put up some interesting stories about the Ultimate Warrior and his dealings with the WWE. They've got correspondents between Warrior and Vince from their fallout in 91. Failed drug tests from 92. And surprisingly a contract offer from Vince in December 97 for $750k a year for 5 years.

warrior_dec1997_offer.png

If you look at the date, the crazy thing is, Vince went on live TV two days earlier and did this speech ushering in the attitude era. "Surely the era of the super hero, urging you to say your prayers & eat your vitamins is passé."

Then a month prior you had Bret Hart leaving because Vince couldn't afford to pay him what WCW were offering. Imagine what Warrior would have been like slap-bang in the middle of Austin, Rock & Triple H. If Bret Hart was too lukewarm for the Attitude era, Warrior being there would have been crazy. I'm sure Warrior used this contract offer to his advantage & showed it to WCW and they snapped him up in late 1998.

Warrior Week on the WWE Network was finished off with a new Ultimate Warrior documentary that was outstanding. The first half was his wrestling career up to 1998 and the second half was all about WrestleMania weekend. They must have had cameras following him around everywhere because everything is captured. The last 20 minutes are really emotional. Vince is crying, Triple H is trying not to break down. Warrior gives Vince a special gift and he's reading it in Gorilla position as Warrior is doing his Hall of Fame speech.

There are loads of cool things shown. They show Triple H's office which has a massive LED screen on the wall with a live feed of a ring at the performance centre. They showed footage of Hogan in civil court giving a deposition against Warrior. And Warrior & Hogan making up as friends at WrestleMania. They talk about the Self Destruction DVD and those who tried to besmirch him. Sting is used as a talking head on a few occasions too.

This is one of the best documentaries WWE has ever done, especially as it was made within a week.

I think in the Self Destruction DVD, Hogan said some disparaging things about Warrior. Because of this story about how Warrior tried to hold Vince up for money at Summerslam (he didn't). Hogan was saying lets do it the old fashioned way and break his legs. In the court footage they asked Hogan rate the Ultimate Warrior out of 10 as a wrestler and Hogan said 0! When they asked Hogan if Warrior was a "flash in the pan," Hogan agreed.

Yeah that Daniel Bryan documentary is really good. I liked it when he got off the bus for WrestleMania and he's got his bag for life shopping bag with him. He seems like a cool, humble guy but he was like that on Wrestling Road Diaries. Looking for old LP's in charity shops and sleeping on random peoples floors.
