Agree with Hilds on this one. Against Newcastle we were dominated, but deserved the win because we put our chances away with a goalkeeper on top form (that's what football is about after all), as well as both teams giving the ref an easy job. Who's to say that Tottenham couldn't have done the same to City? It's very tough to do though when you have a good goal ruled out and then reduced to 10 men whilst giving away a penalty when it was a good tackle. Gave Tottenham no chance. A disallowed goal like that can really knock your confidence, especially when you know it was fine as you feel you're against the ref as well. Then the red card really knocks the stuffing out of you and gives City added incentive to go all out. 2 awful calls gave Tottenham no chance today. At 1-1 Tottenham could have kept the pressure on, and with 11 men on the pitch they could have eventually tried to take control of the game.

As a side, Chelsea suffered a bad draw today. Can't even score against West Ham. Not going to win the league if they can't even score against a team down near the bottom. Really surprised that they haven't signed a striker yet.

Villa played out a great game with rivals West Brom. 2-0 down after 10 minutes only to pull it back to 2-2. They concede again only to then score twice to win. What a game.

Sadly the scum won and are out of relegation. Really hope that Sunderland get relegated. Like the derbys and all that, but I can't stand Poyet. Looks like a twat, and when he opens his mouth you know that he definitely is a twat. He's got Johnson playing well though, and if he continues like he has been in the last few games could earn a late call up to Englands World Cup squad.

And from the linesman's angle Dawson was blocking his view of the City player playing him onside. Wrong decision sure but understandable why he made it. To him it looked offside.

He also couldn't see through the players to when exactly the ball was played. It was an impossible call, but a wrong one regardless. I guess that's why the unwritten rule is to give the benefit of the doubt, and to only call what you're sure of. He couldn't see the ball or the City player clearly, so he couldn't make an informed decision. He's just as likely to allow a bad goal than to disallow a good one, but at least he's not claiming to have seen something he didn't. Plus we get more goals!

Anyway, like I said before, I'm not happy with bad results even if we win. When we look back on this season I'll be very happy with a lot of what we've seen, a ton of amazing results, but this isn't one of them. I have no doubt we'd have won even if the goal was allowed and Rose had stayed on though, it wouldn't have been 5-1 but 3-2 is believable. It's true that Spurs beat United against the run of play as Newcastle did to them, but neither United or Spurs have had the seasons they should have had. Scoring against them hasn't exactly been a rarity. Our defence isn't anything special either but, as all the pundits love to say, if you score four, we'll score five.

Im sure you felt the same way before the cardiff result as well. In football anything can happen when the two team line up and its 11 vs 11. However when refs and linesmen make sure poor decisions it ends up being 13 vs 10. Spurs are never going to win when that happens.

I can understand the linesman is unsighted, but it still doesnt excuse a poor decision. And the ref missing the tackle was absmal.

I'm sure you saw MOTD, they made a decent point that Adebayor did go for the ball and he was offside. The call may be harsh but can be explained. And yeah, the penalty wasn't a penalty, but there was a ridiculous handball that wasn't given so that arguably balances too. Not that I'd have sent the guy off.

The Cardiff match was long before this 20 match unbeaten streak and before we'd knocked off any of the big teams by giant margins. I felt confident until they went 2-1 ahead with 10 minutes to play, I definitely didn't expect to win from there. I didn't expect to win the QPR game on the last day of the 2012 season either. But this team is a very different one even from the one we were watching in August.

Again, Spurs were definitely screwed here, and I'm never happy to be gifted a win by bad decisions. That's as bad as Fergietime. I just don't think Spurs had enough to win it, even with a full team and even with the goal. They played a full half with 11 men and didn't look like a threat at all.

Interesting evening for H coming up. Does he want spurs to lose, which means arse fall behind in the title race, or city to lose, which nskes him a spurs fan...

I wanted Tottenham and West Ham to win with all my heart, teams I have no love for at all.

Man City have been on some bullshit this season. How many referee decisions are they going to get this season? It's like they're the new United, wasn't it just last week that Tiote had a worldy disallowed for a shit reason? City really don't need anymore help then they are already getting, they already spend 100 million every season do they really need the linesman's help as well?

I guess I'm just bitter that we were held to a draw against Southampton, or realizing the fact that we probably won't be top of the league again this season, or maybe the fact that we've been hit by a ridiculous amount of injuries or maybe or maybe that we'll end up coming second to this Man City team and people will just start the no trophies shit again. Ugh I hate football again.

No threat at all, but should have gone in at half tine 1 all. Very different game after that.

Ade was off side, totally agree. But its voided by the fact the linesman stated he flagged for dawson.

I think City would have still won by a few goals even if it was 1-1. If you lost 1-0 or 2-0  fair enough but you lost 5-1. It wasn't an unlucky loss you got thrashed.

When City beat us 6-3 I think it really should've been 4-3 or even 3-3, tbh.

I dont have a problem losing. Im a spurs fan, so am kinda used to it... I have a problem when there are several mistakes made that affect the course of the game. The offside, the sending off and the penalty were all failures from the officials, and that isnt good enough.

If these 3 things didnt happen and we'd lost, then Id be pissed at my team, but the fact is the officials cost us. We might have gone on to win 15-1, or we might have lost 15-1. We'll never know because the officials made three terrible decisions and changed the course of the game.

You can't say the officials cost you the match. They cost you a goal, yes, and a player, yes - but Man City were the better team from the first minute til the last... if Tottenham had looked strong for the first half hour, and then that had happened, I could understand your argument but that wasn't the case.

Also the offside call was bad, but only because he called it for the wrong player. The goal still should have been disallowed because Adebayor went for it from an offside position. Rose's red card was bad, but Bentaleb should have conceded a penalty for his little handball combo. The bad calls made up for some bad non-calls.

We should've really beat Man United last night, they were there for the taking. It has to be the worst United team I've ever seen play against Arsenal. We're still second but it's getting tight at the Top with Liverpool 3 points behind and Spurs only 6, any team out of the top 6 can drop out.

Hilds you can explain better than anyone, how is a team as bad as Spurs challenging for top 4? You guys had a goal difference of 0 a week ago and one of the worst home records in the league, is Tim Sherwood really a magic man?

Sherwoods had a run of really easy fixtures, the city game apart. And it would seem hes very lucky...

Utd should have won yesterday. Shez pulled a wonder save and rvp missed a sitter in the first minute

Newcastle got a great win today. Unfortunately though all talk will be on one incident that is being blown well out of proportion. Pardew apparently headbutted a Hull player. Fact is though, that he didn't headbutt him. If he did then the Hull player would have hit the deck - plus there has to be actual contact for it. The Hull player pushed Pardew twice and only gets a yellow, Pardew was clearly angry and squared up to him, and get's sent off for it. Sure he'll get a long ban whatever, but people really need to get a grip, that was no headbutt.

A lot of something over nothing. Who goes around pushing the oppositions manager in the first place. Pards should have laid it in and nutted the prick. I'm getting sick of seeing these childish, wannabe tough guys (Vertonghen) pushing and shoving the opposition trying to get a reaction and when they get spanked, they cry the victim.

Verty was out of order on thursday, but the guy still butted him

With pardew, he should have walked away. He is in the wrong for keeping himself in that situation, and reacting to it. As Ive got older, ive gotten better at keeping myself restrained, pardew has got about a decade and a half on me so should have been able to control himself.

I havent seen it, but if he butted a player then he needs a loooong ban.

He did enough to warrant complaint.  Pushed or not he really should know better.  Plus this isnt the first time Pardew has done something like this.

After seeing the footage it looks like Pards was going for a pussyhole square up and the player wasn't having it and it looked like a headbutt. Pardew is notorious for being a cunt though so it was probably malicious, he deserves a ban. I'm petty sure if it was Mourinho who did it he'd get praised for mind games though.

City are killing me. That was a pretty unconvincing 2-0 win, definitely flattering. Could have been an easy 5. Credit, as much as it pains me, to Demichelis and Garcia for some great offside traps, losing Kompany wasn't half the blow it should have been.

Today is a perfect example of how infuriating it is being a Newcastle fan. Every fucking season. Can beat top teams, or play very well against them. Come to playing the worst team in the league or the team in very poor for though and we lose almost every time. So fucking infuriating.

Very disappointed with a poor Swamsea performance. Ahead 2 minutes in but yet again we can't keep hold of a lead. I think we're safe from relegation but results like today definitely send a shiver down my spine.

Great fun watching that Chelsea game. Their disallowed goal looked fine to me, but I'm not complaining. Willian and Ramires sent off ahead of next week's Arsenal game, looks like they could be dropping a couple more points. We have United, Arsenal and Liverpool all coming up over the next two or three weeks, so we need all the slip ups we can get.
