Hello, so i don't know if this is going to work or not i don't even know if these movies are even slightly popular in Europe...

Since i have become more of a family man these days with almost step kids and pending engagement that i'm nervous about but that's not the purpose of this thread.

Do you guys like Disney movies? i like a handful of them but not all of them by any means many of them a trash and full of bad messages like racism.. or simply put too girly or childish.

here are 5 of my favorite disney movies... if you guys have some you like please share i'm hoping to try new topics here and see if we can create new discussions.

so here we go in no order because it was too difficult for me to be sure on an order.

1 - Aladdin
2 - The Rescuers
3 - The Lion King
4 - The Great Mouse Detective
5 - The Sword in The Stone

I have to give mention to these movies too though

101 Dalmatians
Lady and The Tramp
Alice In Wonderland
The Jungle Book
Fantasia
Oliver and Company
Snow White

also i just wanted to mention i'm not including live action movies like Honey I Shrunk The Kids or Roger Rabbit (it sorta counts as Disney) or stuff like Duck Tales the movie.

I haven't watched any of them in so long. Disney films are huge over here though, although only with women and children really. I've watched all of the old ones though as my mother used to love watching them, and I liked most of then when I was younger. I can remember liking The Sword in the Stone. That would probably be my favourite since I can actually remember it, and I know I watched it every time it was on TV. I'd actually forgotten all about it until you mentioned it.

Alice in Wonderland it pretty cool as well.

My girlfriend loves Disney films, she likes Mulan the best followed by Hurcules. She actually knows then word for word. And she's seen Frozen in the cinema twice and is telling me that that's now comes third in her list.

My love for Disney has long been a dark secret of mine.

I grew up watching Disney films all the time when I was a kid, which I think everyone did really.  I watched all of them.  Dumbo and the Sword in the Stone were my favourites when I was a baby/toddler.  I grew out of them when I was a teenager but I've somehow found myself going back to good ol' Walt.  I think it's probably because I really do enjoy fairy tales, folk stories and that kinda thing.

My Top 5 are what I think are the best 5 of the Disney Renaissance (the first 2 are in order, but the others aren't):

1. Beauty and the Beast
2. The Lion King
3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
4. The Little Mermaid
5. Aladdin

Honourable mentions go to:

- Fantasia
- Robin Hood
- Wreck-It Ralph
- Frozen
- Tangled
- Hercules
- Tarzan

Do you include Disney Pixar in this? Because Disney Pixar > Disney.

Up is incredible. One of my favourite animated movies ever. Toy Story series is great. Bolt is great. Oliver & Company was a great Disney movie too. From when I was younger, I saw 101 Dalmations about 101 times. Jungle Book is a memorable one too. Lion King was good but the sequels sucked.

EDIT: Wreck-It Ralph! How could I forget? Fantastic movie.

Lion King is definitely my top 3 favourite films of all time.

Aladdin
Lady and the Tramp
Fox and the Hound
Toy Story Trilogy

Hell I even like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid. Even though those are the girly ones you're probably talking about. There's loads more I can't even think of.

I was meaning the original classic art disney, but if you like Pixar then go ahead and mention them if it's Disney... just no live action like Pirates.

Disney is mentioned and out of the shadows I appear, Senny! The king of Disney!

I am a purest when it comes to Disney, sure movies like Frozen and Finding Nemo have great story but the just feel... cold? I don't know I love the seeming human touch actual animation has. My 5 faves in exact order are..

1. The Little Mermaid
Interesting note about this one, it was the last movie to use the multiplane camera that Walt invented. Also Sebastian was supposed to be British and Ursula was originally going to be voiced by the sexiest woman alive Bea Arthur. It's also one of the first movies were Disney started dabbling in computer generated imagery.

2. Aladdin
This one shows another of Disney's little steps towards computer animation as the design of the Magic Carpet is totally CGI.

3. Sleeping Beauty
Maleficant is so evil I love it, she's my second favorite Disney villain right behind Ursula.

4. Dumbo
This movie is a tear jerker for me since I can remember my mom singing "Baby Mine" to me when I was sick in the hospital with bronchial pneumonia when I was 6ish.

5. Peter Pan
This one stars my third favorite villain of all time Captain Hook. I used to get so angry when Pan would win when I was a kid.

I LOVE Captain Hook!  I wish the film was about him rather than Peter Pan.  Pan's such a dick towards him 😋.  Gaston's another favourite villain of mine, and he gets an awesome song!

When it comes to villains songs, Be Prepared has to be one of the most chilling. Made me realise how evil Scar actually is.

but the deepest song is probably Savages:

I'm so happy to see this thread taking off i wasn't sure if it would even get a look let alone a post and all of the posts so far have been fun to read.

I knew Senny would find this someday. 😄

Last night i actually had some stuff to add to this but i forgot for now...

Woo woo woo! You know it!

Be Prepared is one of my favorites to perform! Oh snakeums, I am so glad you started this! Finally I'll have something to talk about on here since my entire life revolves around Disney now.

Having kids is a fantastic excuse to get back into Disney films I've found, and it's been a lot of fun re-exploring them.   One film I loved and I think may be a little underrated is The Emperor's New Groove.  Less of the classic musical, granted, but still a great film and a lot of laughs.

Anyway, I suppose my top five would be, and in no particular order;

Alladin
Lion King
Tangled
Emperor's New Groove
Hercules

But then, there are so many great films to choose from.  Mulan comes very close, as does the Jungle Book... Would it be possible to have a top 51? And maybe a top 14 for Disney Pixar! 😋

I always thought the scene where the kid turns into a donkey crying for his mother was fucked up... scared the shit outta me when i was probably about 3 years old.

Haha yeah, it is pretty fucked up!  That scene still gives my brother (who's 24) the creeps.

Another thing I recently found a bit disturbing in Pinnocchio is one of Giapetto's clocks at the start.  He's got loads of cuckoo clocks with various scenes happening, and one involves a mother spanking her son for spilling some paint.  It's probably me over-analysing, but Giapetto would have to have come up with the idea of a boy being spanked, draw up the designs, carve it and paint it.  Now who on earth comes up with the idea that a child being struck is a good idea for a cuckoo clock??  Giapetto's one sick old man in my book 😋 😋

Emperor's New Groove is one I've only seen the once.  I went to the cinema to see it at a special preview (my grandad used to be a journalist) and I thought it was hysterical!  Loved every minute of it.  I keep meaning to watch it again, to see if it's as funny as I remember it.  You'll love this fact Gorgrim, but that day was the day I bought my first Warhammer set, the old starter set with the Bretonnian archers 🙂.

Tell me you've still got those archers! 😋

And yeah, it is as hysterical as you remember. 😉  I'd lend it to you, but it's in storage at the moment! 😋

Ah... Pinocchio... How could I forget you...

I've come out of the Vault to talk up some more Disney with my Snake in the pants...

This Friday for a few days, at Hollywood Studios, Disney is showing it's new animated short Blank. It's a touching tale of how a blank vinylmation goes out on a quest for love...

In other news, and I have to say even though I'm an animation purist and this switch to 3D computer animations make me weep, I am extremely excited for what will be Disney's 54th movie in the Walt Disney Classics line... Marvel's Big Hero 6! It comes out in November and I can't wait!
