Huge fan! I dunno if I see it running out of steam. If this mid-season finale blows than I'll agree, but it should be good. I guess I can see them starting to run low on ideas, but I've always enjoyed how most characters can die on any episode. We'll see what happens

The Govenor episode was amazing and made me look forward to the spin off even more, getting to see another part of the walking dead world

Is there a guvenor spin off? Im very intetested if there is...
Not quite.... But it will be exploring a different side of the Walking Dead Universe, not tied down to a prison and Rick haha.... which, if the last 2 governor episodes are anything to go by, will be very good indeed...
US television network AMC has confirmed that there will be a spin-off show of The Walking Dead.
The series, which returns for its fourth season next month, started in 2010 with an initial six episodes.
It stars British actor Andrew Lincoln as sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who wakes up from a coma to find he's living in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating zombies.
The so-called "companion" series has an initial target date of 2015.
Executive producer and the original comic book's writer Robert Kirkman said: "After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, I couldn't be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe.
"The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing."
Charlie Collier, AMC's president and general manager, added: "Building on the success of the most popular show on television is literally a no-brainer.
"We look forward to working with Robert [Kirkman], Gale [Anne Hurd] and Dave [Alpert] again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters.
"It's a big world and we can't wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse."

Spoilers, if anyone hasnt seen the midseadon finale.
So, after a couple of great eps, they killed the govenor... just like i predicted. They should have killed the boring sheriff...
What i dont understand, the guv wanted the prison, but when rick wouldnt give it to him the guv drove over the fences, thus rendering the prison useless for both sides. Why did the guvs side push forward? They werent fighters, they would have known not to take down the fences.
Anyway, im getting fed up with this series killing its best characters. Shane, meryl and now the guv. Not happy!
what about Herschel!?

Its good, keeps things interesting. No point in just killing people that no one cares about. Sometimes the good guys just have to die.
Rick is basically the only one safe since the story is essentially based around him.
what about Herschel!?
Pointless character. Pleased he died.
Guv should have lived. Carl should have died and rick should start turning bad (we all know the baby lived, daryl prob took it and will keep it safe)
Carl will be a zombie killing machine!

I love the show, but hate it when the best characters are killed off. The guv was an amazing character. He was complicated, there was good and bad in him, he did what he had to do to survive.
In fact, the blueprint for his character was similar to shane and meryl. But WD kills these characters off and keeps the soap opera character of rick alive.
I'll watch when it comes back, but the show will have got worse as another great character has gone.
That's the great thing about the comics Hilds. Great characters get killed off, and then more appear.
The problem is the repetition tho. Most of what made guv good and watchable was also in shane and meryl. They should hsve kept shane alive and had him pkay out the guvs story
True but the best drama comes from these characters dying and I'm glad they don't let them become too stale after awhile. I will however agree about Meryl, I felt he had two seasons of build and I expected him to be a zombie killing machine that also wrecked havoc on the main character much like the governor did, but he played second fiddle to the gov and even found himself back with the main group.

I really wanted meryl back in the main group with daryl. It would have brought a lot of drama and distrust.
Would have liked to see the guv and rick both in the prison as well. Would have been interesting for a couple of eps.
All that being said, that mid-season finale alone not taking into account where they go from there and who's left.....it was a phenomenal episode no?

Was a decent ep. The guv ep was far better tho.
Ah come on! You just love the Gov. You need a spinoff with just the Gov, which I could see happening. Well maybe more of a miniseries or something

I like strong, complicated characters. Most TV series don't have them because the American audience is too dumb to understand, so when one comes up they have to be killed quickly to stop Americans getting frightened... 😉
Go ahead take your shots. We Americans are you Brits when it all boils down to it!

So I'm on the second season now, it's a good show but sometimes it just drags on the same point over and over. Sometimes with these shows that are based off an original source they end up moving along really slowly and having lots of filler and thats what I feel has happened here. I'll continue watching but I can't binge watch like I did other series since I get bored after 2 episodes.

yeah, season 2 is the walking and walking and walking and walking dead.
in its defense, twd got amc their highest ratings EVER, so as a reward m they cut its budget in half (for some reason)... so... that's why there was so little action in season 2.
So I finished the 4 seasons and it really picked up. I agree the Governor was awesome but he needed to die and the prison needed to fall that's the only way the story could move forward.
This Terminus stuff is weird and the general consensus seems to be that they're cannibals, seems a bit silly to me but I'll give them a chance before writing it off. Watching Carl nearly get raped was hard to watch and I'm glad they linked up at the end and it seems Rick is getting dark now. I can't wait till he gets his baby back.

So... I couldn't find an actual thread to discuss this show.
Anyone else watch?
I love it, but think it's starting to run out of steam.
But then, we saw the Governors episode where it showed what he's been up to since the last series, and I was blown away. This was the best episode of WD for a couple of years and I really hope we see a lot more of this kind of thing. Rick, as a character, is really bland, but the Gov has come across as layered and I'm finding him really interesting.
Obviously this means he'll die in a couple of episodes and we'll go back to Rick trying to keep the fence up for 4 or 5 episodes... I have no clue why they don't just take in a load of zombies, cut their arms off and pull their teeth out and tether them around the prison, similar to what Vashean (or whatever the black girl with the sword is called) was doing when the group first found her. The biters ignored her when she did that, so logic would suggest that a similar ploy would work.
Any other thoughts?
