He is class. Best thing Redknapp's ever done is convert Bale from a left back to a winger. Half makes me wish that Newcastle had won the race to sign him all those years ago... but knowing my team they'd have left him as a full back and then he wouldn't be the player that he is today. The guy is just fantastic, it's been great to see a talent like him becoming better and better every season.
I agree though that he' get into any team in the world. There's no left winger that's better that I can think of,unless you want to class Messi or Ronaldo as left wingers as that's where they started life... but they've evolved beyond that and I get the feeling that Bale will evolve beyond being just a left winger soon enough.
The game against Inter Milan the other season was the start for Bale I reckon... he destroyed them almost on his own.
It was more luck than judgement with Bale and Harry. Harry wanted to sell him, and offered him to City for £5m to raise funds for signings. Hughes said no... Then Bale was going to Forest on loan, with an option to buy for £3m but we got injuries in midfield, Harry had to start Bale on left mid and the rest is history.
Don't give Harry credit when he doesn't deserve it. He's the manager that played Modric on the left wing for 18 months before injuries meant Moddy had to play in the middle. And he's the manager that wanted to pay Portsmouth £4m for David James (when he had 1 yr left on his contract) and pay him £50k a week.
He also, somehow managed to get the 2nd best squad in the premier league to finish 5th.
I'll always be grateful for the Champions League run, but I'll also always think about what might have been if he was a manager that knew how to defend...
He's good, but overrated. I'd say he's the 3rd or 4th best player in the league but will probably be the best in years to come. He isn't consistent enough just popping up in a part of the season and playing, the fact that he's British and plays for Spurs sort of makes him the media's darling which why all we ever hear is how great he is and not about his diving or being a prick on the pitch.
I'd rate players like Suarez, RVP, Toure, Aguero, Tevez, Toure and Mata above him. With only Suarez, RVP and maybe Mata showing it this season.

He is superb. Ryan Giggs was the world-class Welshman in the Premier League but now he's close to retirement Bale could easily fill that slot. I think the only players better than him in the league are RVP, Aguero and Mata.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
There are rumors that teams are ready to go to £100m for him. As much as I love Bale (and I've told my gf that I'd go gay for him) I think £100m is great business, in the same way £31m was great business for Berba. As long as we sell him abroad and buy well (which we tend to do) then I'd be happy. Any bids less than £80m and we should reject them as he is worth more to us than that.

SO, how good is he?
Personally, I'd put him, easily, as World Class. And I quantify this by saying he would get into any side on the planet. He isn't as good as Ronaldo or Messi, and I wouldn't argue with people that say Xavi and Iniesta are also better, but any team on the planet would be better with him in it. And don't forget, he's done it for almost 3 seasons now, consistently.
I really hope Spurs keep him, and I think he'll stay regardless of Champions League for one more season. Crossing my fingers anyway...
