They could do. But he'd end up with an absolutely ridiculous name and there'd never be any mention of who his dad was.
In the information age we live in though, everyone would know who he is. There'd no doubt be chants of "Benoit" by some of the more smarky crowds and if he ever made it big, people would know. I just can't see it happening.

He won't be there for a while though, he's a long way off. They might not be so touchy about it by the time he makes it, if he makes it at all. They'd be stupid though not to if he's half as talented as his dad was. They'd just do everything they could to simply ignore who his dad is.
As already stated, they would change his name. The smarks would soon quieten down, just like they did with the bryan danielson and huskey harris chants. Sure there would be chants, but they would stop.

Having the benoit name makes him interesting. We're talking about it, and it will get his foot in the door. He'll change it at some point tho

I know this is old news and all now.. but even with a name change it would be so odd... i mean he looks exactly like chris.
