After doing the Championship history and now "4CW: From the Vault", I think I've become 4CW's historian and archivist!  So I'll continue my series by recording 4CW's unique matches.  If you guys can think of any more matches we've come up with, post 'em in this thread and I'll edit them in!

AS OF JUNE 2018

Authentic Wrestling Rules
Brought to 4CW by "Mr. Wrestling" Joseph Bennison during his Custom Cup Championship reign in late 2006.  Normal one-on-one match rules apply such as DQs, countouts etc. In addition, closed fists, low blows, eye gouges and leaving the ring will earn a DQ and rope breaks to escape a pin or submission hold can only be used a maximum of five times.

Chair Match
A normal match with count-outs etc. however steel chairs are legal.  No other weapon is legal and will result in a DQ if used.

Fire & Brimstone Match
A highly dangerous match from the early days of 4CW.  The ring ropes are soaked in petrol and set alight, whilst hot coals cover the mats on the floor outside the ring.  There no DQs, and the only way to win is to beat your opponent senseless until he cannot answer the referee's 10 count.  The referee himself stands outside the ring on the rampway.

The Gallows Pole Match
This match is held annually at the Halloween themed Gallows End PPV.  The Gallows Pole match is fought under no DQ rules.  In one of the corners of the ring is a scaffold structure, with a hanging noose where you must hang your opponent to win.

The Gallows Pole match can find its origins in the "Noose on a Pole" match from Gallows End 2004 between Cocozo and Vell.  In that match, a competitor had to grab the noose from the pole set up in one of the ring corners.  Once he had the noose, he could use it in any way he wanted to win.  The Gallows Pole was formalised for Gallows End 2005, where [chux] began an impressive winning streak in the Pole match, lasting until 2010, allowing it to be known as his specialty match. The most recent match saw Glock Nine defeating Phil McGroin at Gallows End 2017.

Hard Knocks Life Match
A brutal match considered to be Inferno's specialty.  The ring is surrounded by a steel cell (similar to the Hell in a Cell) with barbed wire wrapped around the turnbuckles.  Four tables surround the ring and one ladder is placed under the ring.  To win, a competitor must use the ladder to climb through the door on the roof of the cell and climb down to the floor outside the cell.  Pinfalls and submissions don't count, and there are no DQs. The most recent match was Rhys Cain vs Jon Viper for the 4CW World Championship at Stormfront: Summerfest 2017, which Viper won.

Havoc Rules Match
Havoc Rules was the original match stipulation for the 4CW Havoc Cup.  The match starts with five competitors in the ring.  Competitors have to eliminate their opponents by throwing them over the top rope, and both feet must touch the floor.  Eliminated competitors remain outside the ring as lumberjacks for the duration of the match.  When the final two are in the ring, the "over the rope" elimination stops, and the way to win the match is by pinfall or submission.

Mansion of Glass Match
The Mansion of Glass has rarely been seen in 4CW.  A large glass and steel structure surrounds the ring, and to win you must throw your opponent through five seperate panes of glass that make up the structure.  It is fought under No DQ rules.

The Mansion can be seen here:

Riot Match
A pole is attached to each of the four ring corners, where a different weapon hangs.  Competitors climb to the top rope to grab each weapon, allowing them to be used in the match legally.  Victory is by pinfall or submission.

Soul Survivor Tournament
The Soul Survivor Tournament is held once a year, usually in the run up to Revival.  It begins with six competitors.  The first match is held with all six competitors, and ends once someone has been eliminated.  The second match then is held the following week between the remaining five competitors and so forth until there is only one competitor left.  Each match can have different stipulations, allowing for a varied tournament. The most recent tournament was in 2016 for the 4CW World Championship and was won by "The Bruiser" Rhys Cain. There have been seven tournaments in 4CW history, with Drake Blackstone winning two of them.

Thirteen Ghosts Gauntlet Match
Held annually at the Gallows End PPV.  The match starts with two people.  Once one competitor has been eliminated (by pinfall, submission, DQ or count-out), the next competitor enters.  This continues until all thirteen competitors have entered and there is only one man left.  Like the Gallows Pole match, the Thirteen Ghosts Gauntlet started at Gallows End 2004. Eddie Wolfbaine is the only person to ever win this match twice, once in 2008 and again in 2017.

War Match
Held annually at the War PPV, the War match is a four on four elimination tag team match.  The ring is surrounded by a roofed cage and is found under No DQ rules.  The War match is often used to end stable wars.  Inferno has the record of most wins in the War match with three (and no losses), followed by "The Law" Carlos Murphy and Cocozo with two each. In 2017, WAR's format was altered slightly to a three on three elimination tag team match, as Brian White, Tommy Young and Sery defeated The Coven.

Survival Chamber Match
An enclosed dome chamber, holding anywhere from 4-6 competitors, where the only way to win is by submission (either one fall or elimination). Inside the chamber are themed crates, full of different types of weapons. Previous themes have included "Kitchen" and "Dojo". The first Survival Chamber took place during the 2016 Soul Survivor tournament and was created by Rhys Cain.

Good work compy. Nice little collection of matches people have come up with over the years. Would love se also know all the past matches held for the Custom belt, would be some cracking ideas. 13 Ghost Gauntlet match might be a little hard at this moment.

Cheers Ren 🙂.  Yeah, it'd be great to see the different stipulations for the Custom belt!  I remember Sery had the "Spin the Wheel" stip when he was Custom Champ which was my favourite.  Really loved that stip.  Might make that the next project!

Little update, I've added the rules for the Hard Knocks Life match.

Ok, I just need the rules now for the following: Havoc Rules, Riot Match and Chair Match (we had one back in 2006 before the WWE!).  If anyone can remember them, post them here and I'll edit them in.

Haha, cheers chux.  Painfully obvious I suppose.  Can you remember what the rules are for the Riot Match and Havoc Rules?  IIRC Havoc Rules was a 5-way match, possibly elimination?  Not sure if it was No DQ or not.

It would be pretty cool to use these matches again.  Goodness knows when we last had a Hard Knocks Life match or a match under Havoc Rules.

We only ever had very few havoc matches as I remember, it turned into the custom cup pretty soon after being made. And only one hard knocks match. I'm not sure that either match really deserves to be listed here, they're like our Punjabi prison match.

You know Hilds will book a Hard Knocks Life Match now just to spite you chux 😋.

I think the last match under Havoc Rules was Cash Out 2006 with me, Shaolin, Stardust and Dave Phoenix for the Custom Cup Championship.  Can't remember who the last person was, Ravnos maybe?

Pity we don't use our Punjabi Prison matches more often, variety's the spice of life afterall!

Update time!  Havoc Rules and the Riot Match have now been added.  I like the Riot match stip, it's something that can easily be brought back without much fuss.

Unless I start adding those specialty gimicks unique to certain wrestlers when they're Custom Cup Champ (like Brock's current stip), then I think that's all our matches!

Going old school with some little known matches.  We've got "Mr. Wrestling" Joseph Bennison's Authentic Wrestling rules and a Fire & Brimstone Match, which I found in Massacre 2005.
