GWA Blaze
Week 7
Live from Glasgow, Scotland

Before the opening video, we are shown the highlights from last week's show, including Rhyno costing Brock Lesnar his shot at Daniel Bryan's GWA Championship and The Miz introducing his new group called Big Brother.

The opening video plays, showing highlights of guys like Daniel Bryan, Paul Burchill, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Rhyno, Kane,  The Miz and Japanese Honor. After the video plays, we cut to the arena, and the theme for GWA, "Re-Education (Through Labour)" by Rise Against blasts through the PA system as the crowd is panned by the camera.

Mick Foley: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to GWA Blaze! We are live, from right here, in Glasgow, Scotland as our UK Tour continues! And here comes our GWA Champion, Daniel Bryan!

To open the show, the champion makes his way down to the ring. He looks extremely pleased about something. Mic in hand, he rolls into the ring and raises his title into the air.

Daniel Bryan: Last week, I came into this ring and fought Brock Lesnar with my GWA Championship on the line... and I walked out of the arena with the GWA Championship still over my shoulder. That's all that matters about last week. I am still the champion! And Lesnar isn't the only one who wanted this title. The Miz has also been making waves, running his mouth about how he's going to make ... Miztory... and become the champion at WrestleWars. Well, here's the thing, I'm not ready to let go of this title yet and it isn't going to happen. I have just one thing to say to you Miz, no matter how many guys you have with you, I will be walking out of WrestleWars the champion, just like I did last week.

Before Bryan can continue, he is interrupted by the GM Booker T. Bryan, who seems to have gotten fed up of Booker interrupting him in recent weeks, raises his arms in protest and shakes his head. Booker comes out, in his best suit.

Booker T: Sorry, Daniel, I didn't mean to interrupt you dawg, I just didn't want you to jump the gun and embarrass yourself... you see, you say that you will walk out of WrestleWars with the title... but first you have to walk INTO WrestleWars with the title... and like I said last week, there's a lot of guys who want a shot at your title and since you are the fighting champion you claim to be, you'll have no problem defending that title tonight, right?

Bryan looks to protest, but then stops himself, and nods.

Daniel Bryan: You know what? You're right, I did say that. I am a fighting champion. Not only that, I'm the best damn champion this promotion has ever seen. And if Brock Lesnar can't beat me, the rest of the roster really doesn't stand much of a chance. So go ahead Booker, let me know who it is I'll be embarrassing tonight.

Booker T: I'm glad you asked, Bryan. You see, dawg, after these fans got to see Daniel Bryan v Brock Lesnar last week, I really needed to match it with an equally good opponent for this week so, in our main event tonight, you will defend the GWA Heavyweight Championship - against THE ROCK!!

Bryan wasn't expecting that. He scowls.

Daniel Bryan: No! What the hell, Booker? He isn't even a full-time competitor! He doesn't deserve a shot at my title!

Booker T: If he's so undeserving, you won't have a problem beating him tonight, right? Last week, you got lucky. Rhyno came out and cost Lesnar the match. I will be addressing that situation later tonight but sucka, if I have any advice for you, it'd be to go and prepare - because this week, there will be no DQ finish to save your ass. Tonight, there will be a winner and it will be by pinfall or submission! Now can you dig that, SUCKA?!?!?!

Booker gets a big cheer from the crowd after booking such a great main event. As Booker leaves the stage and Bryan kicks the ropes in frustration, we cut to a commercial break.

~Commercial Break~

Match One - GWA Womens Championship
Raquel Diaz (c) v Sara Del Rey

Diaz is on a bit of a run lately, after victories over Emma and Paige in recent weeks. But now she has another match against Sara Del Rey, who unlike the other two, is no rookie and she is very eager to win the GWA Womens title. Diaz uses her usual dirty tactics, but they are somewhat less efficient because Del Rey sees some of them coming and provides a decent reversal. Del Rey starts to build momentum and hits a rolling wheel kick followed by a Big Boot to Raquel's chest. Del Rey sets up for the Death Rey Spike Piledriver, but Diaz manages to wriggle her way out of Del Rey's grip. Del Rey keeps up the offense, with a few hard elbows and a set up for the Samoan Drop, but again, Diaz escapes and rolls up Del Rey from behind, grabbing a handful of her tights for leverage, once again cheating to get a victory.
Winner and STILL Womens Champion: Raquel Diaz (c)

Raquel Diaz kicks Del Rey out of the ring and grabs a mic. Del Rey recovers on the outside but decides to listen to what Diaz has to say.

Raquel Diaz: Once again, I have proven that I am the Queen of GWA! No-one can beat me, not Emma, not Paige and not you Sara. So it seems like there isn't a woman in the back who can beat me - but of course if anyone thinks they can, I encourage you to come out here right now.

At first, silence. And then the return - of Mickie James! Mickie James comes out to the ramp and Del Rey, who stops to stare at her, with the history they have, decides for now to leave and let Mickie James have her moment. Mickie James stops halfway down the ramp.

Mickie James: You know, I've been watching GWA ever since the rebirth... and I watched as you cheated your way to that title - and I watched how you've cheated your way into keeping that title... and so when Booker T got in touch with me about coming back, I jumped at the chance. Cos the simple fact is, I want the GWA Womens Championship, and I'm challenging you to a match at WrestleWars! So how about it, Your Highness?

In the ring, Raquel Diaz laughs.

Raquel Diaz: Well,  I gotta say, I didn't expect you to answer my challenge but if you want to get in the ring with me and embarrass yourself on your big PPV return, that's fine with me, Mickie. But I have to tell you, you've just made a big mistake by challenging me.

Raquel Diaz drops the mic and raises her title and Mickie James nods her head and walks back up the ramp as we cut to commercial.

~Commercial Break~

Mick Foley: Welcome back to Blaze! Before the break, we saw the return of two-time GWA Womens Champion Mickie James! She challenged Raquel Diaz to a match for the title at WrestleWars - and it was accepted - and in the break, it was confirmed that match will indeed take place!

We cut backstage, where Joey Styles is in the interview area with Rhyno.

Joey Styles: I'm here with the War Machine, Rhyno! Rhyno, in last week's GWA Championship match, you took out Brock Lesnar... and many people have assumed it's because of what he did to you at The Asylum. Do you care to shed some light on the situation?

Rhyno: It's not rocket science. Many people would be right. At The Asylum, Brock Lesnar pinned and eliminated me from the match. I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is after I was eliminated, he continued to attack me. He clearly has a problem with me and I've never been one to shy away from problems. If Lesnar wanted a fight, well he got one. Last week, I gave him a taste of his own medicine. And he should consider himself lucky, I could have done a lot worse to him. Although, maybe he shouldn't consider himself lucky, because tonight, I want a match with Lesnar - and in that match, I will do a lot worse to him. And what Lesnar needs to learn is he isn't -

Suddenly, Rhyno's interview is cut off as Lesnar storms into the area and tackles him to the floor. Lesnar hits some ground and pound, shot after shot, and then he picks up Rhyno and drills his head into a nearby monitor! Rhyno crashes to the floor and Lesnar turns to Joey Styles, who wisely leaves quickly. As Lesnar stomps out of the interview area, some medical staff run into the area to check on Rhyno.

Mick Foley: A vicious assault by Lesnar has left Rhyno out cold! We'll keep you updated as soon as the medical staff have checked up on him!

We cut to another area backstage, the Ladies locker room! Mickie James is meeting Emma and Paige, shaking their hands and getting to know them, when they fall quiet. Mickie James turns around and sees Sara Del Rey. There's an awkward silence and clearly some tension.

Sara Del Rey: Mickie.
Mickie James: Sara... listen.

Mickie James sighs.

Mickie James: I know me and you have - well, we've never really gotten on - we've beaten the hell out of eachother and I even injured you before... and I think I definitely owe you an apology. So I'm sorry. But honestly, now I'm back in GWA, I'd really like us to put any bad feelings behind us and start over... if you want, that is.

Sara Del Rey doesn't say anything at first. Her stone-cold face doesn't give anything away either.

Sara Del Rey: ... Fair enough. It's forgotten about. All in the past. Just do me a favour?
Mickie James: Sure.
Sara Del Rey: At WrestleWars, make sure you take that title from Raquel Diaz.

Mickie smiles and the girls embrace, and Paige and Emma relax now that the tension is gone. So the ladies locker room are all friends, except for Hamada, who is sitting in the other side of the room, minding her own business. Whether she'll come out of her shell in the next few weeks remains to be seen. We cut back to the ring, for the next match.

Match Two - Singles Match
Mason Ryan v Kevin Steen

After being unsuccesful inside the Asylum, it's back to business for these two. And since Steen last week cost Ryan his TV Championship, he is out for revenge. The two of them don't do much wrestling; it's more of a brawl that spills to the outside and does involve the apron and the barricade as weapons. When they do eventually get bak into the ring, it's Ryan who gains the upperhand and takes out Steen with a huge Spinebuster. He follows up with a Sit-Out Powerbomb for the win.
Winner: Mason Ryan

Mason Ryan celebrates the victory with the crowd by taunting on the turnbuckles and trying to get them behind him. Steen does recover though and launches himself at Ryan but the welshman sees Steen coming and pulls down the top rope. Steen flies over to the outside, being embarrassed further. Steen looks almost ready to explode as he storms up the ramp, things clearly not going his way. And speaking of things not going Steen's way, we are cut backstage to see the new TV Champion, who Steen hoped to get a shot against but was left disappointed. It's Kenny Omega with Bret Hart.

Bret Hart: So how's your first week as champion been?

Kenny Omega: Bret, it's been great. You know, I've been here a while and ever since you brought me in, I wanted to do something important... last week, I finally did. I'm a champion, and no-one can take that away from me.

Bret Hart: You know, I always saw a lot of talent in you. And you've taken a big step forward with your first title win. Now the next thing you should do is present yourself as a solid champion.

Kenny Omega: Oh, don't worry. This title is perfect. I get to defend it every week so no-one can say I don't deserve to hold it... and I'm aiming big, Bret. I'm going to be the longest-reigning TV Champion this company has ever seen.

Bret seems happy with this, although maybe someone should tell Kenny Omega that to be the longest reigning TV Champion, he only needs to hold on to it for another six weeks - but hey, a goal is a goal. Anyway, we cut to another backstage area, this time the Doctor's office. Booker knocks and enters.

Doctor: Oh, hi, Booker.

Booker T: Alright, doc, I need to know what the situation is with Rhyno.

Doctor: Well, preliminary checks suggest he's suffered a minor concussion. Now, I can't see that there'll be any lasting damage. He should be fine, but he won't be able to compete tonight.

Booker sighs, frustrated.

Booker T: Alright doc, thanks. I've gotta go look for Lesnar. If you do see him, tell him I want to see him asap, aight?

The doctor nods and the camera cuts away back to the ring. New TV Champion Kenny Omega comes down to the ring accompanied by Bret Hart. Then his opponent, Willie Mack, comes out to get this match underway!

Match Three - GWA TV Championship
Kenny Omega (c) v Willie Mack

With Kenny Omega's confidence and momentum high after winning the title and Mack on a less-than-ideal losing streak, Omega is the one who controls the match and after five minutes, manages to take out Mack with the Aoi Shoudou (Cross-legged fisherman buster) for the victory.
Winner and STILL TV Champion: Kenny Omega (c)

Omega rolls out of the ring, celebrates with Bret Hart and leaves up the ramp while Mack frustratingly looks on, his losing streak increased. We cut backstage, where Booker T is walking down the hallway and into the parking lot where he finally finds Brock Lesnar. Lesnar seems to be leaving the arena. He's fully dressed.

Booker T: Hey, dawg!

Lesnar turns around.

Booker T: Where do you think you're going, man?

Brock Lesnar: A little bird told me that Rhyno is unable to compete tonight.

Booker T: That's right, sucka, but you are cleared to compete tonight... and you'd best get ready cos you're in action next.

Brock scowls and gets closer to Booker.

Brock Lesnar: You know what, Book? You may think you're safe because you work in an office... but if you keep pushing me, you won't be safe much longer.

Brock heads back into the arena, unbuttoning his shirt as he goes, and Booker looks back at him, removing his glasses with an amazed look on his face.

Booker T: Awh, nah, hell dawg, TELL ME... he didn't just say that!

~Commercial Break~

When we return to the ring, Brock Lesnar makes his way out for the match. He looks pissed off but focused as always regardless. His opponent then comes out - the big red machine Kane!

Match Four - Singles Match
Brock Lesnar v Kane

A typical monster v monster start to the match as they exchange lefts and rights, trying to get the upper hand. Kane unleashes a furious Uppercut, and Lesnar comes back with a sickening elbow to the head. They continue this for a while until they start reaching for other moves. Lesnar hits a back suplex. Kane with a sidewalk slam. Lesnar with a belly-to-belly. Kane with a Big Boot. Neither of them back down though, and continue to hit hard. After six or so minutes of back and forth action, Lesnar takes down Kane using his MMA experience and hits him with shot-after-shot, ground and pound style. Lesnar then hits the F5 for the victory.
Winner: Brock Lesnar

After the match, Lesnar rolls out of the ring and walks up the ramp, having proven his point. He does notice a kid holding a "Rhyno" sign though. He grabs it, tears it into pieces and then stamps all over it. A metaphor that, after an impressive showing against Kane, perhaps could play out if Lesnar and Rhyno get into the ring together.

Mick Foley: There is a lot of bad blood between Lesnar and Rhyno, that much is clear! But it's Lesnar's bad temper that started this whole mess when he decided to make an example of Rhyno at The Asylum. Rhyno won't be competing tonight but you can be sure next week he'll be itching for a fight! And I think Booker T will be more than happy to give it to him.

We cut backstage where Chavo Guerrero is with Raquel Diaz in a hallway. Raquel still looks pissed from earlier tonight when she was challenged by Mickie James. She's ranting on and Chavo looks like he's had to listen to it for most of the night.

Raquel Diaz: And how dare she try and show me up out there by challenging me?! Did you hear the way she said Your Highness? Could she be more full of herself if she tried?! I don't know what makes her think she's such a big shot! I am the Queen of GWA!

Chavo Guerrero: Raquel... Raquel... RAQUEL!!

Raquel finally shuts up and Chavo finally gets a word in.

Chavo Guerrero: I know she frustrates you, but come on, we're the Guerrero familia, orale? We don't let idiots like Mickie James get under our skin... all you need to do is go into WrestleWars and show her why you are the champion, si? I have faith in you, little cuz, you will teach that rat a lesson not to mess with the Guerreros... just like I am going to teach Sin Cara a lesson tonight. Booker T has told me that if Sin Cara wins tonight, he gets another shot at this Cruiserweight title, but that's not gonna happen.

We cut away from Chavo and Raquel and to a different area, to a locker room this time, with The Rock! He's preparing for his match, sorting out his boots, when Paul Burchill enters the locker room.

Paul Burchill: Alright, mate?

The Rock: Hey, man. Yeah, I'm good. Listen, since you weren't around last week, I just wanna apologise for The Asylum PPV. I got taken out of that ring and the next thing I know, some other referee has come in and finished the match for me.

Paul Burchill: You know what, don't worry about it. Sure, I was a bit frustrated I lost the match but I've had some time to get over it. There's always next time. What's important is tonight, you go to that ring, and you beat Daniel Bryan. You need to be ready.

Not looking away from his boots, Rocky speaks.

The Rock: Oh don't worry. I intend to. I'm ready.

Paul shakes his head. He grabs Rocky and pulls him up. Rock looks him in the eye.

Paul Burchill: No. That's not good enough, mate. Tonight is your ULTIMATE opportunity! You heard what Booker said... tonight, there will be a winner. A real winner.  No crappy DQ finish or countout. So you have to go in there and pull out of your ass the best match you can. Cos mate, this is the perfect opportunity to take the title from Bryan and finally shut him up. So I want you to go out there, take that boot you've spent so much time tying up, SHINE IT UP REAL NICE, and shove it where?

The Rock: Straight up his candy ass.

Paul Burchill: I CAN'T HEAR YOU, MATE.

The Rock: I said STRAIGHT UP HIS CANDY ASS! Cos tonight, in front of the MILLIONS (and millions) AND MILLIONS of the Rock's fans, the jabroni-beating, PIE-EATING, eyebrow raising, GWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION CHASING, The Rock, is going to KICK DANIEL BRYAN'S ASS AND BRING THAT TITLE TO THE PEOPLE!! IF YOU SMEEEEELLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN!!

Paul Burchill pats Rocky on the back.

Paul Burchill: Now you're ready.

We cut back to the ring, as the cruiserweights make their way out for the next match.

Mick Foley: Well, The Rock couldn't get more ready if he tried! Tonight, he faces Daniel Bryan in our main event for the GWA Championship! But first, Sin Cara has an opportunity here to gain a title shot against Chavo Guerrero! All he needs to do is beat him!

~Commercial Break~

Match Five - Singles Match
Chavo Guerrero v Sin Cara

Quick match to fill time before the main event, but Sin Cara really wants to win. Knowing he has a title shot reward for a victory, he gives Chavo everything he's got, including a springboard crossbody and a running moonsault. Chavo takes the onslaught and kicks out each time. Sin Cara sets up for the Falta de Gravedad, but as he jumps off the ropes, Chavo moves. Sin Cara lands on his feet and Chavo grabs him and hits a suplex. He keeps hold of Sin Cara, and hits the other two of the Three Amigos, but only gets a two count. Chavo is frustrated and goes to the turnbuckle and rips off the padding. The referee goes over to fix it and while he does, Chavo lowblows a recovering Sin Cara, disguising it in a rollup. He calls the ref who counts the pin. 1..2..3!
Winner: Chavo Guerrero

Mick Foley: Well at this point we should really expect it! Chavo Guerrero cheats for another victory and it also means Sin Cara will not get the Cruiserweight title match he was hoping for!

Chavo rolls out of the ring, looking pretty pleased with himself, as Sin Cara recovers with an assumed look of frustration under the mask. Then we cut backstage, where Joey Styles is in the interview area with a special guest.

Joey Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here live... with the GWA Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan! Daniel, tonight you have the biggest match of your career. It's The Rock v Daniel Bryan, for the GWA Heavyweight Championship! How do you deal with the pressure of such a big match?

Daniel Bryan looks at Styles with a stupid expression on his face.

Daniel Bryan: Pressure? What pressure?

Joey Styles: Uh... well the fact you have to face The Rock, who -

Daniel Bryan: Shut up. There is no pressure. Don't you understand, Joey? I'm the GWA Heavyweight Champion! You know what that means? It means I'm at the top of the mountain, I'm the top of this company! I am the biggest winner to ever walk into this arena! The Rock may have an illustrious history, but what the hell has he done in GWA? Nothing! There's no pressure on me! All the pressure is on The Rock! He's the one who has to prove himself to all the people who say he's more of a hollywood actor than a wrestler these days! He's the one who has to prove that he can actually make it to the top again and actually win the title. Unfortunately for him, he has to prove it against me. You know what that means? It means he won't prove it. The Rock is a legend of the business, I'm not denying that, but if we're talking about the here and the now, The Rock is, for all intents and purposes, a loser! And I am a winner! And if you don't know by now, you should. Winners beat Losers. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a loser to beat.

Daniel Bryan leaves the area and Joey Styles raises his eyebrow after hearing Daniel Bryan's comments.

Mick Foley: Daniel Bryan is extremely confident tonight! But underestimating The Rock could be the biggest mistake he ever made! Ladies and gentlemen, don't go anywhere! It's Daniel Bryan v The Rock for the GWA Championship - and it's next!

~Commercial Break~

Mick Foley: Ladies and gentlemen, I have some news regarding the #1 Contender for the GWA Heavyweighht Championship, The Miz! The Miz has announced he will be opening next week's show, where he will address the GWA fans with what he is calling "Big Brother's First Official Address" - no doubt, he'll have something to say about Daniel Bryan or The Rock, whoever the GWA Champion is this time next week! And we're about to find out, here we go, our main event of the evening!

Main Event - GWA Championship
Daniel Bryan (c) v The Rock

-The Rock's first match in a while starts with a staredown between him and Bryan. They circle each other and eventually, to a big cheer, clash in the middle of the ring with a grapple. Being the bigger and stronger man, The Rock wins, and throws Bryan into the corner. Bryan gets straight back to his feet and runs over, kicking The Rock in the gut. Rock kneels over, and Bryan kicks him again. Bryan runs to the ropes to continue his assault, but Rock follows him and takes him out with a clothesline. The Rock picks up Bryan and whips him into the corner. He then follows it up with a clothesline in the corner and an early DDT! 1...2... no! Bryan kicks out!

-Over the next couple of minutes, The Rock and Daniel Bryan go back and forth. Rock hits a move, Bryan kicks out, Bryan reverses, Bryan hits a move, Rock kicks out. It continues this way until The Rock lifts Bryan up high and takes him out with a Samoan Drop! Rock applauds himself, and rolls back to hook the leg. 1...2... kickout. Rock locks in a headlock, to try and wear down the champion. It works at first but eventually Bryan gets to his feet, elbows his way out of it, and reverses with a big German Suplex! 1...2...kickout!

-Both Rock and Bryan get back to their feet and go back and forth with head shots. When Rock hits Bryan, the crowd chant "YES!" and when Bryan hits Rock, the crowd chant "NO!" and this goes on for a little while until Bryan kicks Rock in the leg. Bryan kicks him twice more and brings him to his knees. Then, Bryan goes on a kicking rampage, kicking The Rock repeatedly in the chest. After six or seven kicks, he hits Rock with a roundhouse kick to the head and hooks the leg! 1...2... but Rock kicks out!

-Bryan gets frustrated and lifts up The Rock, sending him to the ropes and going for a clothesline, but The Rock ducks out of the way. Bryan turns, walking straight into a ROCK BOTTOM! Rock hooks the leg! 1...2..NO! Bryan kicks out! Rocky stands up, shaking off the cobwebs, and waits for Bryan to get up, he does, and Rocky takes him out with a SECOND ROCK BOTTOM! 1...2...NO! Bryan incredibly kicks out again! The Rock picks up Bryan and takes him out with a suplex and hooks the leg again. 1...2..kickout! As Rock picks up Bryan, Bryan reverses with a powerful European Uppercut! He then hits a running big boot to knock down The Rock. Bryan gets to the top rope, and hits the DIVING HEADBUTT! 1...2...but NO! The Rock kicks out!

-Daniel Bryan clotheslines The Rock out of the ring at the next opportunity, and follows it up with a suicide dive to the outside, crashing into Rock! With both guys laid out, the referee starts to count them out. He gets to 7 when Daniel Bryan rolls into the ring and he gets to 9 when Rock manages to roll in. Bryan locks in a single-leg Boston Crab. At first, Rocky struggles but he manages with the help of the crowd to lift himself up and reach the ropes. Bryan releases the hold and sends Rocky to the corner. Rocky is lifted up, with his back to Bryan, and Bryan takes him out with a back-to-belly suplex! Bryan crawls over and hooks the leg! 1...2...NO! Kickout!

-Bryan brushes his hands through his hair, frustration seeping in at not being able to put away the People's Champion. He picks up Rock, trying to think of what to do to him next - when The Rock explodes out of Bryan's grip and takes him out with a THIRD ROCK BOTTOM!! Rocky hooks the leg, surely the new champion?

-ONE... TWO.... NO! DANIEL BRYAN KICKS OUT AGAIN!

-Rocky stands up, ready to end it, and kicks Bryan's arm into place, before pulling off his elbow pad and throwing it into the crowd! He comes off one side of the ropes, then the other, and goes for the People's Elbow! But Bryan rolls out of the way! Bryan focuses his attention to The Rock and lock in the LeBelle Lock!! The Rock is trapped in the centre of the ring, unable to move! He tries to drag himself forward but he barely moves an inch! Bryan pulls back on The Rock's face, applying more and more pressure!! AND THE ROCK TAPS OUT!!!
Winner and STILL GWA Champion: Daniel Bryan (c)

Daniel Bryan is handed the GWA Championship by the referee. He jumps on the turnbuckle, raises it high and screams "YES! YES! YEEEESSSS!!"

Mick Foley: You may not like Daniel Bryan! But nobody can deny he is the worthy champion! Daniel Bryan wins the biggest match of his career! A victory over the legend that is THE ROCK! Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us! And as always, Have a nice day!

The show ends with Bryan back on the mat, raising the title high with a history making victory as the show logo appears.

Quick Results:
-GWA Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) def The Rock
-Chavo Guerrero def Sin Cara
-Brock Lesnar def Kane
-GWA TV: Kenny Omega (c) def Willie Mack
-Mason Ryan def Kevin Steen
-GWA Womens: Raquel Diaz (c) def Sara Del Rey

Better than Essa

Wow. Ok, this is a long show.

I like Bryan's serious edge, I'm hoping he can develop that more in WWE over the next few months. The comedy is fine, but to be a champion he has to be more like this. He knows he's the best. I call bullshit on Booker though, saying he didn't mean to interrupt Bryan. If he didn't mean to, why did he? Anyway. It seems very strange to have Rock working on a TV show, especially for the title. And in Glasgow! That just wouldn't happen. But it is happening, so we'll go with it. Interesting match, one that looks ridiculously one-sided but pretty much has to go the other way. More terrible logic from Booker here, saying that if Rock doesn't deserve a shot he shouldn't be a problem. He doesn't deserve it because he hasn't earned it, not because he's no good. This guy. I hope he gets fired and replaced by Brad Maddox.

So Diaz is a true, cheating Guerrero. Happy with that. Although a handful of tights is barely cheating at all, I figure beating Del Rey with such a minor rule infraction is actually still pretty impressive. And speaking of unearned title shots, here's Mickie! I don't mind the match since Diaz agreed to it, but it would be nice to see Mickie win one or two before the title match rolls around just to prove she's on that level.

Not a fan of Rhyno's promo, he sounds kinda whiny. Wah wah, he attacked me. Man up, Rhyno! So the deal is that each week Rhyno and Lesnar are going back and forth, but I can't help but feel Lesnar is getting the better of it. I don't believe for a second that Lesnar is losing. He shouldn't, anyway.

Nice bit of tension between Mickie and Sara, that's cool. And (nearly) the whole locker room is united against Diaz! That's a pretty scary spot to be in for such a rookie. It looks like this could be the end of the line for Raquel, Mickie is the last girl left so she kinda has to win by default. That is, unless Hamada steps up...

Happy with Mason Ryan winning, even though you'd think Steen would be the favourite here. I've never really understood the Steen appeal, so whatever. Ryan isn't much of anything, but limited to big man squashes he's as good as he has to be. It would be nice to see him and Rob Terry get back together. The Welsh Dragons seemed like a better deal for each of them than a singles run.

I don't know Kenny Omega very well, so I'll just assume he's a half-decent indy guy and get on with it. Not the strongest promo ever, but the sentiment is there. Go for it Kenny, six more weeks!

Ooh. You'll be in hot water for this one. Minor concussion, no lasting damage? It's 2013! Any concussion is srs bsns, even when they're not. You have to say "we don't take these matters lightly and Rhyno won't be back in action until he can pass his impact testing," or something.

Another Booker segment? Sigh. Ah well, at least he's being threatened. This segment would be great if it was anyone but Brock, but unfortunately it is Brock. I'd love to have seen him just walk out anyway. I mean, what's Booker going to do? It would have made Lesnar look like a dick, but one that the company values highly enough to allow to be a dick. And it would make Booker look somewhat competent by finding another replacement at short notice. Also it could give him a better threat for next week when Lesnar gets back, "I replaced you with Chavo Guerrero last week, I'll do it again if I have to." The bully who reluctantly follows orders is a good role though, and if it leads to Booker getting F5ed then I'm all for it.

Kane got some offence there, which I suppose was necessary. Looks like he got off lightly in the end, no post-match beating. If ripping up the sign means Lesnar is going to rip Rhyno up too, I'm buying the PPV. I want to see limbs come off.

I don't know what it is about Los Guerreros, I just find them annoying. Which is good! Raquel has the fast talking Latina attitude thing everyone hates and Chavo thinks he's a bigger deal than he is, or is unduly cocky for whatever reason. It makes for good heels.

Not sure why Burchill is the inspirational speaker, why Rock finds him especially inspirational or why Rock needed inspiration, but this went pretty well. You wanted Rock to be fired up, this did just that. Great! Burchill is Mr GWA, but really? Telling The Rock that "now" he's ready? Psh. Where did he get the status to make that ruling? This is like the anti-Guerrero cockiness, it's the kind of ridiculous self-confidence that is somehow quite endearing. That said, if he's not careful he might end up being DDP. And that's not a good thing, it's a bad thing.

Guerrero stealing the win was unexpected. Usually when someone is given 'one last shot' they win. So how will Sin Cara get his shot now? Or if he doesn't, who gets it? And most importantly, did this match have Sin Cara lighting? The people need to know.

Love Bryan's confidence, but he's breaking promo rule #1. Calling Rock a loser helps no one. If Rock wins, Bryan is a super loser. Something tells me we don't have to worry about that, but conversely when Bryan wins he's only beating a loser. He should be building Rock up to the level he's actually on, or higher, and then showing that he's one step beyond even that.

Miz hasn't been on this show, but he's been mentioned a couple of times and I hate him. I don't want him back. He's shit and doesn't deserve the Asylum contract or the faction. I hope Brock Lesnar eats him and takes his place.

Ok, so this is a long and pretty intense match, but the most enjoyment I'm getting out of it is imagining how blown up Rock must be. Bryan is a machine, there's no way Rock can keep up. Even when he grabbed a headlock, Bryan fought out and got right back on him. Bryan kicks out of two Rock bottoms? Nice. And he's not selling them at all, he's going all out here. Kicking out of a third Rock bottom is huge, and then to counter the elbow into the no lock is awesome. It's such a shame this wasn't on PPV, it really belonged there. Bryan was put over huge. I'm not sure how you can top a win over Rock for WrestleWars, Miz would be a massive disappointment.

This show was huge. This review is huge. I definitely wouldn't complain if the TVs were a little shorter and you saved all this work for PPVs, but I guess this is the GWA way! I definitely get the feeling there are a few guys you're focusing on, and it's working well. This show was missing tag team influence, even a short backstage segment would have helped, but I guess they'll be cycled back in next time. What's next for Rock from here? Will he disappear for a while to shoot a film? Might not be a bad idea. Looking forward to next week.

Thanks for the lengthy review.

Daniel Bryan going on about Winners and Losers is basically his GWA version of "Yes!" and "No!" although he does do a bit of that too. Don't read too much into it.

The Rock is going nowhere with WrestleWars two weeks away, but I'll leave it a surprise as to what he'll be doing.

I don't like The Miz much either, but I think with some gimmick tweaking he could be a decent heel, which is why I went that way with giving him the rub of the Asylum win. He gets the spotlight for a bit now, whether he'll win the title or not, I'm not going to give away but if I can get you to like The Miz when I'm finished with him, I'll consider it a job well done.

And GWA's biggest headquarters are in the UK, so you can expect the British shows to be huge. 🙂
