Problems at a TNA Live Event

The TNA live event in Cape Girardeau, Missouri started last night with a TNA agent coming out and announcing that Chris Sabin, Garett Bischoff, Jay Bradley, Wes Brisco, Gail Kim and Miss Tessmacher would not be allowed to compete by the Missouri Athletic Commission because they did not have licenses to wrestle.

Around 500 fans were in attendance for the 90 minute show. The card featured just 5 matches and 3 of those 5 featured the same four wrestlers. Quick results look like this:

* Bully Ray beat James Storm
* Devon beat Gunner
* Samoa Joe beat Bobby Roode
* Gunner and James Storm beat Ray and Devon
* Jeff Hardy beat Kurt Angle

TNA officials tried to make up for the problems by inviting all fans backstage after the show to meet wrestlers for free. However, Jeff Hardy charged $20 for a photo and fans could not get his autograph. This led to some of the people that paid $65 for VIP tickets to be upset that fans were getting what they paid for for free.

Wow. That is bad. Not surprised that fans who paid for VIP tickets are pissed either. I'd be asking for the difference back if it was me.

this is bad. TNA isn't the best wrestling on tv, but without them, we'll be getting even WORSE shit from a wwe without any (even minor) competition.

As far as I know Jeff Jarrett isn't at all involved in TNA other then financially (if that).

I really hope this issues just revolve around some bad eggs and change in management over there and they get back on their feet, but I don't know anymore. I don't watch TNA (I don't have cable or satellite, so I only watch WWE on Hulu), but I read up on it, and the storylines seem interesting enough, I love how long and drawn out they are, and how slow the build is in most of the stories, none-the-less they don't seem to be pulling in any viewers, or getting any closer to being a real alternative or direct competition for the WWE.

But on top of that, if you look for it, you'll find it, and with TNA, ROH and Chikara presenting very very different products and very different alternatives to the WWE, and each other.

Once a man would spend a week patiently waiting if he missed a stage coach, but now he rages if he misses the first section of a revolving door.

He stole Angle's wife, which obviously caused a lot of problems between the two of them, and Dixie sided with Angle. Jeff lost all of his authority backstage and ended up heading down Mexico way where he and especially Karen are doing really well.

Jek

I always hated his wife. Why would you leave a champ like Kurt for a chump like Jarrett? (there's probably 101 reasons that i cba to research)

Follow up, gerweck.net:

Due to six wrestlers unable to wrestle on Saturday night in Cape Girardeau, MO due to issues with their wrestling licenses including newly crowned TNA champion Chris Sabin, TNA’s house show was reduced to five matches, and the show only ran 90 minutes long. There are online reports that the attendance with around 300, but Dave Meltzer stated that he heard the attendance was closer to a dismal 200.

We should have an updated attendance figure later this week.

No one has accepted blame for the licensing issues, but apparently there was a failure to submit blood tests by the required deadline.

It's weird that half of the guys didn't get their tests sent in in time. It it was all of them you'd blame the office and if it was one you'd blame the guy, but half? Who dropped the ball there?

Apparently Bruce Prichard is the one who was in charge for the licences for individual states... I guess they forgot this when he left the company

This is WCW all over again. No leadership. Dismal attendance. Just hope that the right talent gets to the E and not left behind.

I always got the impression that it was a decent split between Angle and his wife.  Didn't they even play an angle on screen about it?

Edge and Matt Hardy played nice on TV too for a bit but I can almost guarantee that they aren't cool outside of the business.

They were professional about it, but there was a lot of heat between Angle and Jarrett.
