Could obviously tell the budget differences between Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick.. But I wouldn't really say it was a low tech film, it was just a lower budget, but it showed enough to know the world they lived in was a high tech world etc, it just so happened the planet they crashed on wasn't high tech lol..
The second movie was aimed at a larger box office than the first and thus was done on a bigger scale.
I often thought at the end of the 2nd film though that he wouldn't stay as an emperor, he has never done anything that would make you think he would like to be in charge of people or in a civilised society either, he has always been a loner and I would imagine he would have dismantled the empire or handed it to someone else, he wouldn't have wanted to be a part of the empire that killed Jack, it would make sense for him to tear it apart.
Definitely excited for the 3rd film though

Can't wait for the 3rd one. Only reason the second was more hi tech was because the planet was invaded by a superior race.
It'd be like if we were invaded by an alien race, you know they'd be more advanced that us.
The people turned on him, and left him for dead. That's why he's a loner again.
I'm looking forward to it, I like both movies in the series so far. The first was really dark and moody, the second lightened up a bit and expanded on the story. It flopped hard because of the expense, which kind of explains why people took a dump on it. The first one had an unpredictability about it whilst the second one lost that edge because of the budget being so thin, they had to flesh out the main character.
I hope they go back to those roots.
Anyone excited to see #3?
At the end of #2, he was an emperor of an unstoppable empire... now he's a loner again? I hope they explain why, and not just change the world again, like they did in #2. Me & my buds often argue that #1 & #2 almost seem unrelated. It went from a low future-tech world to a super high-tech future world in the span of one movie.
