Child support calculations are based on the payee's income, not the cost of raising a child and in cases like this that involve someone who makes a considerable salary, they take into account that the child has been raised in and is accustomed to a certain lifestyle. They do the same thing when a rich couple gets divorced after a long marriage where one of them makes the money and they either don't have kids or the kids are adults. They take lifestyle into account which is crazy because I've seen some cases where the money maker is paying almost 7 figures a year in spousal support.

Well no, she gets the money. Unless the kid has some sort of bank account the money goes to the carer, so that 4.5k a month is going to milk, nappies and someone getting their nails done.

The money has to go to the carer regardless. It's for maintenance, it has to be used. You can start up a savings account on the side, but the law is in place for a reason and unfortunately you don't get to decide how it works.
Apparently this story isn't totally accurate though. Meltzer said yesterday that within minutes of the article going up he had people both in and outside WWE calling him saying it's way off. He says Orton may make that kind of money for a WrestleMania, SummerSlam or Rumble month (provided he's in a top spot), but his downside is 'only' one million, not three.
TMZ is usually fairly good with this stuff. Wonder where they got that number from.

If it's for my son, yeah. But I'm on good terms with her and Orton is on good terms with his ex. I suppose it's different if you aren't.

This came out of nowhere … mega-rich WWE star Randy Orton HAS GOTTEN DIVORCED — and TMZ has learned, he gets a ton of the marital loot … including cars, massive bank accounts … and of course, his gun collection.
The divorce order was signed just last month. Randy and and his now-ex Samantha were married in 2007, but separated in 2012. Samantha filed for divorce in March, claiming the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” They have one 4-year-old daughter.
But the split seems pretty amicable … both parties came to a separation agreement, which details the division of property post-split.
According to the document, Randy gets his 2012 Range Rover, his 2011 Bentley, and his 2009 Harley Davidson. Samantha gets her 2013 Infiniti.
Randy also gets a bunch of six-figure bank accounts, his gun collection, his jewelry, and one house … plus 100% of all righst, title, and interest in his WWE contract (which is worth a ton of money). According to the docs, Randy rakes in $291,666 per month in salary.
Meanwhile, Samantha gets a bank account worth $654,317 … not bad … as well as her jewelry (including her $99,000 engagement ring and wedding ring). She also gets one house.
As for their daughter, Samantha gets sole legal and physical custody, but Randy gets visitation. He has also agreed to pay Samantha $4,500 per month in child support.
Seems pretty fair to us.
