Vince McMahon is reportedly banning wrestlers from using Twitch, TikTok, or Cameo because it's "detrimental to the company", within the next 30 days.

A memo was sent out, though it’s causing some confusion. "Some of you are engaged with outside third parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company,” CEO Vince McMahon wrote in the memo.

Several WWE performers have large Twitch followings, and a number of them are also on Cameo.

WWE wrestlers are classified as independent contractors, not employees... So not sure whether that's actually legal to make them stop using it. Especially if they're not using their wrestling name for things like Twitch streaming.

Prior to last night's Monday Night Raw, WWE clarified and seemingly relaxed some of the rules surrounding their recent edict prohibiting talent from engaging with third party companies. Amid much confusion about what was and wasn't allowed, WWE informed talent that they could continue with their YouTube and Twitch accounts as long as the talent uses their real name (as opposd to their WWE in-ring name) and the talent must inform WWE of those accounts. Nothing else was clarified regarding other social media platforms, specifically cameo, but f4wonline.com speculates that it is believed wrestlers won't be allowed to use Cameo though it was still "super vague." WWE's initial statement read as follows:

"Much like Disney and Warner Bros., WWE creates, promotes and invests in its intellectual property, i.e. the stage names of performers like The Fiend Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Big E and Braun Strowman. It is the control and exploitation of these characters that allows WWE to drive revenue, which in turn enables the company to compensate performers at the highest levels in the sports entertainment industry. Notwithstanding the contractual language, it is imperative for the success of our company to protect our greatest assets and establish partnerships with third parties on a companywide basis, rather than at the individual level, which as a result will provide more value for all involved.

Yeah they have already backtracked. Knew it wouldn’t stick. Stupid anyway.

-- One of the reasons that Zelina Vega took a stand against WWE's new policies is that she was making significantly more money with Twitch than she was with WWE, reports the Wrestling Observer Radio. Financially, it made sense for her to continue with Twitch as her WWE release and subsequent non-compete clause means she is still going to be paid for the next 90 days while earning her Twitch revenue. After the three months when she officially becomes a free agent, Vega is almost surely going to be able to sign with another promotion for what she was previously making in WWE anyway.

-- Vega’s deal with WWE dated back prior to AEW, which means it was not a giant money deal but rather was structured in a way that assumed there would be house shows to supplement the base pay. Since AEW came into existence last year, WWE began offering a different type of deal with a lot more guaranteed money.

Apparently she also has an OnlyFans account which is what people are saying she was mainly sacked for... but if she was making more money via Twitch than wrestling you can't really blame her for continuing it. Good on her for being able to make some good money that way.

It'll get to the point where Vince pisses off so much staff with this that he reverts back. Or he'll lose a ton of talent. Aleister Black is clearly on his way out after what they've done to his wife. And there's plenty of other talent who have actively spoken out about this. VInce might have to swallow his pride or prepare for a possible talent exodus.
