Wade Barrett has officially signed with NXT as part of the commentary team.

The former Intercontinental Champion has been part of the announce team in recent weeks alongside Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix.

As first reported by Sports Illustrated, Barrett will now remain an official member of the announce team. The former King of the Ring returned as a color analyst for the black-and-gold brand after several years away from WWE.

"I am as passionate, as motivated, and as excited to be in the NXT broadcast booth as I ever was to be in the ring," Barrett told SI. "I can't wait for the next few months and the next few years. I am thrilled to share the stories of the stars of NXTWade, and I am very grateful for the chance to entertain people every week. I am so excited for this new role."

Was always disappointed that Wade Barrett didn't go further with his WWE career. He was great and very underrated... I feel that he'll be the same as a commentator. He's had a 2-week guest spot as commentator already but not seen any of that. So how did he do peeps?

He’s a very good commentator and will be a great addition to NXT.

Remembering his time with the Nexus and all those promos he did, I'd imagine he'd actually be pretty fantastic as a colour commentator, especially if he brings that British smarminess he's so bloody good at!

He's been doing it for a couple weeks already on a handshake deal, he fits right into NXT which is fitting given his history with the show.

This is what I was thinking. His mic work was quality.
