Final Space: this is excellent. Really hoping that there's a second series coming. Easily one of the best animated series on Netflix.

I really liked the first season of GLOW. Haven’t watched the second one yet mainly cause I don’t have time, but still

There’s a Jimmy Carr panel show called The Fix which is good for just background noise.

I dunno if it’s on Netflix anymore or yet (idk) but that “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary was great.

Also Hill Haunting was pretty good and Bird Box I heard was pretty stupid lol

My biggest rec's off the top of my head, available now to the best of my knowledge, in no real order.

Note: availability varies country to country.

Forgotten
9.5/10. Korean psych thriller/mystery. Love it. Mind-bender to the max, lotta fun. Netflix original.

Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned
9/10. Korean... psych drama with fantasy and mystery elements? It's hard to describe. Just one to definitely watch. It's dark and beautiful and harrowing and life-affirming.

Gotham
8.5/10. Very well done crime/drama/action series. Lot of villain origin stories are changed here, some for better and some for worse. Great cast. This has some of the best villain portrayals in television, in my opinion.

Girl from Nowhere
8.5/10. Mind-bending Thai "psych drama" series, as I'm now saying apparently. Dark. Bizarre. Fun. Netflix original if I recall correctly. One season thus far.

Sense8
9/10. I can't explan it in short, heh. It's another "psych drama" with sci-fi elements and some romance. It's very fun, very queer-inclusive and a cool concept thats applied pretty well overall. Sadly no season 3 ever came but the Wachowski sisters did a 2-and-a-half hour film-style series finale that sure as hell satisfied this fan as much as possible.

Carol
8/10. Film adaptation of The Price of Salt, a 50s (!!) lesbian novel. Great cast and beautiful, believable plot/love story. Lacks some elements of realism here and there but any more real would make it too dark/cold, in my opinion.

Disobedience
7.5/10. A really solid lesbian drama with a great cast and religious (Judaism) element.

Train to Busan
8.5/10. Korean horror. Want a twist on classic zombie flicks that actually sounds dumb on paper but totally works in (this particular) practice? Here ya go. Zombies and trains. So stupid it hurts, right? Well, a little faith goes a long way -- this one is not to be missed by genre fans. A gripping zombie flick with braaains! And heart.
*And yes, I do indeed love Korean cinema.

The Host
8/10. Cheesy fun. Korean monster horror with  (potentially) a familiar face or two.

I Saw the Devil
8.5/10. Korean serial killer horror. Great cast, pace and atmosphere.

Thor: Ragnarok
8/10. Fun times with a cheesy Marvel character who was basically redeemed all in one go here. And Loki. And Jeff Goldblum. For reasons. xD

Black Mirror
Very dark tech horror/drama stuff. I only know a few episodes, personally, so no rating. It's an anthology series of (to memory 45-minute episodes, each by a different director and such. You can just pick an episode and watch and not be lost for not having seen prior episodes at all, they all stand alone. "San Junipero" is one of the best episodes of anything I've ever seen. It stands alone as I said, too, so yeah. Brilliant.

Can't think of more offhand and need to end this post, heh.

I liked some of these. Others where almost unbearable. There was one or two with a large woman on them. Fucking awful. She doesn't know how to speak at a normal level and just screams everything and she just wasn't funny at all.

Final Space is great. Loved every second of it.

Stranger Things is one of the best things that Netflix have done.

Daredevil was superb! Followed by Jessica Jones. Don't care overly much for the other two, and really not sure why everyone loved Luke Cage. No where near the level of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Punisher was good also.

Black Mirror. Love it. The first two series were from Channel 4. Then Netflix bought the rights, which is why series 3 & 4 are slightly longer. But they carried it on well and I look forward to series 5.

Sense8 was fun as well.

Brooklyn Nine-None is the best.

Star Trek Discovery is pretty good. I liked the older ones, but I wouldn't say I was a proper fan. But I like this new direction they're going in.

Altered Carbon is good if anyone hasn't seen it. I only ever read the first book of the series, so I enjoyed this. If they do a second series I'll be going in blind which will be nice.

Frontier, with Jason Mamoa is a good one also. Almost forgot about that somehow.

Nice to see another Sense8 fan round, in any capacity.

Also, yes, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is amazing. I've not seen any of the new season yet sadly.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is a fun concept and an interesting story, but you will get frustrated trying to "complete" it. It's not quite a movie or a game. It's like one of those interactive DVD features we used to have back in the day.

Just finished "You"

It was a lot better than I thought it be, although I did have my issues. Very much enjoyed it, felt myself cheering for the guy at times. Don't wanna give away any spoilers, but I'm really shocked and curious for season 2.

Any other suggestions? I heard Umbrella Academy was pretty good.

I forgot a BIG one in my mega-post from a while back. The biggest, in terms of shows.

Everything Sucks
I don't have the words to sum up how much I love this show. Hoping for a season two. So yeah - set in the US in the mid-'90s; high school, coming-of-age dramedy; a handful of main characters / small main cast, very character-focused. Primarily follows freshmen who are new to the high school a good portion of scenes take place at. The goings on at school serve as the roots of the plot. Once you get past the first few slightly awkward minutes of too-expected "nerds talking about Star Wars" (for good enough reason at least - the first of the live/CGI '90s fllms was fast on its way in season 1's canon), the whole show is gold. Very human, very well-paced, very funny / very subtle at all the right times, believable and relatable teen issues, nerd-positive, doesn't lose itself in shitty referential humour, the '90s as portrayed here is really well done and serves simply as a piece of the show's backdrop, never becoming a comical fail of cultural/technological/fashion-relevant representation like, say, That '80s Show. This also isn't anything like That '70s Show - which I do like, mind. It's similarly character-focused and the era is a backdrop, sure, but this show stands firmly on its own legs.

Saying more / going into the plot would just spoil the experience for potential viewers IMO. Honestly one of ny fave shows ever and I've already revisited it in full twice now, after an initial full season 1 viewing week last fall.
Currently there is only 1 season, which has 10 episodes total, 22 mins each. Easily binged in 3 & a half hours if desired,
or consumed bit by bit.

I love it. Luke and Kate are two of my fave teen characters ever and this status was achieved from just TEN episodes of a Netflix original, and that's not even mentioning other great characters as well.

Edit: Great licensed music too.

Added thought: This show offers up a nice helping of nostalgia, but doesn't force-feed it to you. It's all about the characters.

No problem!

Btw, if the numbers in your username are anything to go by, we're roughly the same age. To which point, the nostalgic flavouring within the show will serve you well.

We tend to really only watch animation on netflix as it's generally for my daughter. That being said, i can certainly recommend a few of them for story, animation and performance quality, those being Voltron; Legendary Defender, Troll Hunters, Pokemon XY/XYZ and Dragons; Race To The Edge. Voltron in particular my wife and I found very entertaining with a very engaging story and characters you can very easily and quickly get invested in.

Have you watched Castlevania yet? That's the only animation that I've tried so far. I am big on story though. I don't think Goblin Slayer counts because its not on Netflix lol

Yeah I have seen Castlevania, or at least, the first season. It's bloody good, not to mention just bloody! :-P

I do tend to watch anime on Netflix too, but not often.

OOT: Looks like several of us are in the ole' 87 club! :-P

I've also really enjoyed The Seven Deadly Sins, if anyone wanted to check that out. Very much a high fantasy magic and knights adventure story, and very classically and kinda cliched anime!

Yeah, in 2006-2007. Also created Oki-Kira back in 2011 and did a few RPs, but that was just for a month.
