Didn't see that coming... Thought they were meant to be quite high on him.  Although I thought it was funny that he comes back from a long term injury and the feud they give him is the very over returning Daniel Bryan which he was never going to come out on top of.

Surprising, but he's apparently had some major issues in listening to management, in particular Vince. Probably knew that they thought highly of him and he's thought that he could do what he wanted in certain situations. Lesson one is when Vince tells you to do or not do something, you listen and follow his directions.

That's very, very sudden. Definitely something to that, we'll just have to wait and see what.

From what I've heard, he asked to have the DB match a certain way. Vince said no, but he did it anyway. And it was his second offense after attacking the dwarf a few weeks ago.

Also, they didn't wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Loads of speculation about it as you'd expect... but the underlying theme is he has a backstage attitude

-- It remains unclear exactly what caused Big Cass to get released today, but according to @WrestleVotes, a source stated that the "big man pissed someone off, bad."

-- Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer reports that today before Smackdown in Toledo, Vince McMahon called a meeting and fired Cass.

-- Whatever it was, it had to have happened today or last night and not at the Money in the Bank PPV as Cass was active and wrestled at the house show yesterday. As noted before, Cass has been in and out of the doghouse after basically not listening to Vince a few weeks ago.

And...

-- According to Sports Illustrated, Big Cass was released yesterday from his WWE contract in large part due to his "personal conduct" - specifically his excessive drinking in public during the recently completed European tour as well as general attitude issues. The drinking is said to be one of the major underlying reasons for his firing.

-- Pro Wrestling Sheet adds that it wasn't just one incident that led to his dismissal and that on the European tour, one specific issue may have been the tipping point. While being shuttled on a bus, Cass went to use the bathroom which had a non-functioning lock. However, Cass thought he was being pranked and after being stuck inside for a long time, he ended up breaking the door down to get out. This meant that for the rest of the trip, other talent had to use the bathroom without a door. Some wrestlers were said to be understandably upset while others were more sympathetic.

-- This took place very soon after the Smackdown incident in which Cass beat up a "little person" even though he was clearly instructed not to do so by both WWE producers and Vince McMahon himself. Together, along with a couple of more minor incidents and his overall attitude very likely led his release.

“If I’m going to be honest with you, I made a lot of mistakes. I made a lot of mistakes in a very short period of time,” Cass admitted. “I did some things that I shouldn’t have done. I guess the company couldn’t rely on me and couldn’t trust me. Look, I’ll just be honest with you, in my opinion, they made the right decision for them. It was the right decision to get rid of me at that point in time – not to say I won’t be back – but at that point in time they definitely made the right decision for them. To be honest with you, looking at it they made the right decision for me. Everyone makes mistakes, but when you make that many mistakes in that short of a period of time then you lose people’s trust and you’re not reliable anymore.”

Cass was on Booker T's podcast and owns up to his mistakes. A good move on many fronts... doesn't piss WWE off anymore by badmouthing them, accepts that he was in the wrong and in another part admits that if he was in Vinces shoes, he would have fired himself too. So opens the door for him to return some day.

He's currently doing indy bookings using the name Big C.
