"There has been talk of having Hardy "shadow" WWE producers which would be a way for him to learn that side of the business as there is a chance it could be a possibility for him in the future."
I heard this exact rumour but for Jason Jordan lol

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
Matt Hardy would be better than Jason Jordan in a backstage role. Way more experienced. But Jordan might surprise.
Is Jordan not set to return anytime then?

Apparently, his injuries may force retirement. But it's all rumours.

Dam, he's still quite young wrestling wise.
I believe the final word was both Hardy and Jordan were being considered for backstage roles.
Having seen the shit Matt did when involved with his character creatively, not sure it's such a good idea that he does certain backstage roles. Would turn the place into a circus. Probably great for some things though with his experience and knowledge.
JJ I had completely forgot about lol. It's a shame that they're having to consider this for him as well considering he's not even 30 yet.

-- Jason Jordan, like Matt Hardy, has also been shadowing WWE producers and learning the ropes as he has had issues coming out of his neck surgery earlier this year. There is no timetable for his return.
This came up on the site not long after I found the first part above. I just missed it.
Reby Hardy... you remember her, Matts wife who doesn't know when to shut up... she's revealed when Matts contract expires and has said that he has to decide "whether or not he should continue his in-ring career or if he should pursue something different"
Matt is good. Matt is going through a bit of a transitional period; he’s not really sure what he going to be doing. His contract is up in March, which I’m not sure many people are aware of, but there’s sort of a decision to be made at this point as to whether or not he should continue his in-ring career or if he should pursue something different. Which, he would totally be up for and would be excited to do, I feel like, so he’s kind of giving it a go right now backstage. He’s at Summerslam; he’s not on the card, but he’s there, and we’re kind of going to see from here. It’s really a transitional time right now.
If Reby ever found herself under an NDA, she'd be sued within a Week!
If Matt wants to retire, thats up to him. And quite frankly, he's at that age where retirement is starting to stare him in the face anyway so why not start looking into different aspects of the business.

Matt Hardy has officially retired.
“I just want to take a moment and I want to address the WWE Universe. All of the Woken Warriors, all of the Hardy Boyz fans, all of the Mattitude followers all those people who allowed me to live my dream for so many years. This is all I've wanted to do and I got to do it at the highest level for 26 years.”
“I’ll never forget the reaction the WWE Universe gave me at WrestleMania 33 and my return it was truly one of the greatest moments of my career. WrestleMania 34 was a great moment winning the Andre The Giant Battle Royal. And I got to bring my creation, The Ultimate Deletion to Raw in the main event spot. A lot of cool stuff I’ve got to do.”
“There has been a lot of speculation for quite a while online if I’m going to be wrestling any longer or not. WWE, fortunately, they let me to fulfill all of my advertised commitments but tonight here in Corpus Christi this was the last advertised commitment I had.”
“I never say never, or as Woken Hardy would say: ‘NEVAH SAY NEVAH!’ But tonight here in Corpus Christi will most likely be the last time you’ll see Woken Matt Hardy in a WWE ring.”
“I have 2 young kids and a wife and it’s time for me to go home.”
Here's the vid:
I hope he gets a nice moment on Raw like other people have had. He's a future hall of famer, so deserves a send off in front of the fans.
That's kind of a weird video. Like it was planned. Why not just do that on Raw tonight? Would have made more sense and would have been quite emotional. Now if he comes out tonight, people will already know what he's going to talk about and it's lost that impact.

Not sounding great for Matt, but it's good to know that they're planning to keep him around in the future once he stops wrestling.
