Battle of the Bands 48
Welcome, all, to Battle of the Bands 48! At BotB 47, some stuff happened, probably. Now it's time for some other stuff to happen, I think.
Anyway...
When you vote, please request a musical act for the challenger list. Each act will be added to the list in the order they are requested. (Only one request at a time per person, please.) Battles will be usually be posted on Mondays I will post these with extreme inconsistency, as I often forget and/or can't be arsed. The voting period typically lasts for about one week. I will try to post a heads-up as voting nears an end What happens, happens. Does anybody even read this part? When a band loses, it will be unable to re-challenge for 10 rounds. If an act achieves 10 straight victories, they will be retired from champion status and the next two challengers in the request list will duke it out for supremacy!
Note: The term "musical act" denotes any band, solo artist, vocal group... whatever you like. Basically, this is an all-inclusive popularity contest.
Voters are encouraged to include their opinions of the bands/artists in the battle, or at least a few short words about the act they voted for. Not a requirement, of course!
DREAM OF CALIFORNICATION!

The champion...
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American funk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock. When played live, their music incorporates elements of jam band due to the improvised nature of many of their performances. Currently, the band consists of founding members vocalist/rhythm guitarist Anthony Kiedis and bassist Flea, longtime drummer Chad Smith, and former touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the best-selling bands of all time with over 80 million records sold worldwide, have been nominated for sixteen Grammy Awards, of which they have won six, and are the most successful band in alternative rock radio history, currently holding the records for most number-one singles (13), most cumulative weeks at number one (85) and most top-ten songs (25) on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. In 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The challenger...
The Tea Party
(requested by Paige)The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band with blues, progressive rock, Indian and Middle Eastern influences, dubbed "Moroccan roll" by the media. Active throughout the 1990s and up until 2005, the band re-formed in 2011. The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling over 2 million records worldwide, including 4 double–platinum awards, 1 platinum and 4 gold albums in Canada, and achieving a No. 1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999.
The Tea Party toured Canada on twenty-one occasions and Australia on twelve. In November 2002, the band toured Canada with symphony orchestras reinterpreting a decade's worth of shared songwriting. Breaking up in 2005 due to creative differences, band members nevertheless re-united in 2011 to play several Canadian tour dates during the summer. The band decided to continue after the tour and has now re-formed. The band has since released a double live album, recorded on their 2012 tour of Australia. Video shot during this tour was released as a Live DVD/Blu-ray, "The Tea Party: Live From Australia" in 2013. The Tea Party has also been writing and recording new original material since Fall 2012, and their latest album, The Ocean at the End, was released in September 2014.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker · 5,095 commentsRed Hot Chili Peppers. One of my favourite bands of all time. Not many bands will be able to take my vote from them, especially not one as new to me as The Tea Party, although I do like what I've heard from them.
Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!

Main Event · 734 commentsI'm gonna have to go RHCP, more through familiarity than anything else. Will check out the Tea Party at some point though, the musical influences intrigue me!

The Moon Maiden · 654 commentsYeesh! Forgot all about this, sorry! Funny how this worked out: The Tea Party were my pick, but they're coming in against RHCP, which makes this really tough! I love both bands a great deal. I would maaybe pick RHCP if I had to choose, though it's really hard to say! In the context of this BotB, RHCP already have two votes on their side, and I don't see anyone else voting for The Tea Party, so I'll go ahead and be the lone vote on their behalf!
