DFW DRAGONFIRE LIVE
EPISODE ONE: RISE FROM THE ASHES
LIVE FROM THE RESCH CENTRE - GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN
Attendance: 5,405

The show opens with a huge pyrotechnics display, a sold-out crowd and "Deify" by Disturbed blaring through the speakers. We get an introduction to the show from the commentary team, consisting of Mauro Ranallo and his broadcast partner, Booker T! Ranallo welcomes us to a new era of wrestling, rising from the ashes of Global Wrestling Alliance: this is Dragon Fire Wrestling, where the matches burn as hot as dragon flame!

We cut straight to the wrestling as Hideo Itami comes out for his opening match in DFW. Ranallo points out that the winner of this match will move on to a DFW Rage Championship match. His opponent, The Velveteen Dream, comes out next. His flamboyancy certainly makes Itami feel a little uncomfortable but he refocuses on the upcoming match before him. Booker reminds us that this match is a Rage match meaning no disqualifications and no countouts!

Match One: DFW Rage Title Match Qualifier
Singles Match
Hideo Itami vs The Velveteen Dream

What starts as a back and forth technical match quickly dissolves into chaos when Velveteen Dream's mind games get too much for Itami and he rolls out of the ring to get some weapons. Itami then starts to dominate the match with kendo stick and steel chair shots but the physically bigger Velveteen Dream manages to get back into it with a nifty sidestep of a flying kick from Itami. Dream uses his physical superiority to manhandle Itami a bit, hitting him with several pretty mean suplexes.

Dream goes to the top with momentum on his side and launches off for the Purple Rainmaker elbow drop but Itami senses danger and is able to roll out of the way. A couple of well placed kicks later and Itami is able to take out Dream with a DDT on to a steel chair! He follows this up with the Go 2 Sleep and pulls off an impressive debut victory.
Winner and qualifying for DFW Rage Title Match: Hideo Itami @ 8:44

After the match, Itami celebrates while leaving up the ramp and Velveteen Dream looks a little stunned in the ring when he comes to. He slithers out, looking incredibly annoyed with himself as we cut to a commercial break.

When we return, the familiar screeches of a car crash echo around the arena and the legend known as Mick Foley, who also happens to be the Owner of DFW, comes down to the ring. He starts by thanking everyone for choosing DFW and promises to provide them with the most entertaining and impressive wrestling in the world. Foley says he's not doing it alone though - and introduces DFW's General Manager, Kurt Angle!

Angle comes out to the ring and shakes hands with his now boss, Mick Foley. Foley gives the ring to Angle and leaves. Angle tells the crowd that he hopes they enjoyed the opening bout - but that still to come they have two blockbuster triple threat matches to determine who will battle it out at Sudden Impact for the DFW World Championship. The first triple threat will consist of Shinsuke Nakamura, Dean Ambrose and Minoru Suzuki. And the second triple threat, the main event of tonight's show, will be Bray Wyatt vs John Cena vs Samoa Joe! Angle signs off with an "Oh, it's true!".

We cut backstage to DFW interviewer, Renee Young. She introduces her guest, the one and only, Sami Zayn! Young asks Sami how he feels going into his first match in DFW, next week, against Sheamus, in the second of four Rage Title match qualifiers. Zayn points out that he has had many battles with Sheamus and he remembers them all painfully enough - but Sami Zayn is in DFW to do only one thing: make history - and beating Sheamus, then going on to become the first ever DFW Rage Champion, would be something special for his career and for the dream he has had since he was a young kid: to be a fighting champion.

Minoru Suzuki makes his way down to the ring to a mixed reaction for the next match. Tom Phillips announces this is the first of two triple threat matches for the DFW World Title match at Sudden Impact. Ambrose is out next, to a massive pop, interacting with some fans before running down the ramp and bursting into the ring. Following him, Nakamura comes down to a similarly large pop and the crowd singing along to his entrance music. Once all three men are in the ring, the crowd chants "Holy shit!" before we even start. There's a tense staredown between the three, until the bell rings, and all chaos breaks loose.

Match Two: DFW World Championship Qualifier
Triple Threat Match
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Dean Ambrose vs Minoru Suzuki

What starts off as a free for all mix of strikes from all three men dissolves into a standard one on one when Ambrose gets taken out with a kick each from Nakamura and Suzuki. With Ambrose on the outside, the two japanese superstars brawl it out, with hard-hitting strikes to wear down the other. Suzuki gets a bit of an advantage and starts to build up momentum with a dropkick. He goes for the Gotch-Style Piledriver when Ambrose storms back into the ring, steel chair in hand. He takes out both men and hits Nakamura with a Dirty Deeds onto the steel chair, but before he can get the three, Suzuki breaks the fall.

Suzuki and Ambrose go back and forth with forearms and elbows, until Ambrose takes out Suzuki with the Lunatic Lariat, but he only gets a two count. Ambrose takes out Suzuki with a suplex and then sets up for Dirty Deeds, but before he can hit it, Nakamura kicks his chin off his face. Nakamura takes out Ambrose with a belly to belly. He kicks Ambrose straight in the head but only gets a two count. He sets up for the Kinshasa on Ambrose, but sees Suzuki coming to and hits Kinshasa on Suzuki instead. This distraction however, allows Ambrose to take out Nakamura with a second Dirty Deeds and grab the victory!
Winner and advancing to DFW World Title Match: Dean Ambrose @ 11:11

As Dean Ambrose celebrates his victory, we cut backstage to our interview Renee Young. She introduces her guests, none other than Chad Gable and Jason Jordan - American Alpha. Jordan says they came to DFW to make their name as the greatest Tag Team to ever step foot in this company or any of its previous incarnations. Gable says they are Ready, Willing and Gable to beat any team in the company to prove their worth and opportunity at the Tag Team Championships. Jordan adds they went to Kurt Angle and Mick Foley, to ask for that opportunity, and they got their wish. Next week, they will take on TM-61 for a spot in the DFW Tag Title match at Sudden Impact.

When we return from the commercial break, Ranallo and Booker give us a preview of next week's show. They confirm that American Alpha will indeed take on TM-61 in a Tag Title Match Qualifier. Ranallo adds that we will also see Mickie James go one on one with Sasha Banks for a spot in the Womens Title Match Qualifier. And finally, Booker confirms we will also see the third Rage Title Match Qualifier as Tyler Bate takes on Aleister Black to join Hideo Itami - and the winner of Zayn vs Sheamus - in what we now know will be a Fatal-4-Way Ladder Match!

John Cena arrives on the stage for our main event with a deafening mixed reaction from the crowd. He takes it all in stride and confidently sprints down to the ring after a salute. He is closely followed by Samoa Joe, who looks all buisness, doesn't bother wasting time pandering to the crowd, and receives a negative reaction because of it, and instead gets to the ring as quick as possible, not once breaking eye contact with Cena. Finally, the lights go out, the fireflies come out all around the arena, as Bray Wyatt makes his haunting, mesmerising entrance. He reaches the bottom of the ramp with his lantern, extinguishes it and rolls into the ring, grinning maddeningly at the two opponents he is about to go to war with. Ranallo reminds us one more time that the winner of this match will face Dean Ambrose at DFW Sudden Impact for the DFW World Championship.

Main Event: DFW World Championship Qualifier
Triple Threat Match
John Cena vs Samoa Joe vs Bray Wyatt

Similarly to the last triple threat, the match starts with a three-way free-for-all, though more grapple based than its predecessor. Joe takes out Cena with an Urinagi, and then Wyatt takes out Joe with the same move. Wyatt starts to dominate, including taking out Cena with a neckbreaker and Joe his running takedown. Wyatt bites off more than he can chew though and Joe fights back, taking out Wyatt with a big dropkick. He follows it up with a standing senton but only gets a two count.

Cena comes back with some strikes to both men. He takes out both with Powerslams, and attempts a double five-knuckle shuffle, but Joe kicks Cena in the head and gets back up to lock Cena in the Coquina Clutch. It looks like Cena is about to fade before Wyatt breaks it up and takes out Joe with a Sister Abigail! Wyatt tries to cover but Joe wisely manages to roll out of the ring. Wyatt turns his attention to Cena, attempting another Sister Abigail but Cena reverses and takes down Wyatt, locking in the STF.

Wyatt reaches for the ropes and makes some good headway, before Cena pulls him back and reapplies the hold! It looks all but over for Wyatt, when Joe comes in with a senton on both Cena and Wyatt! Cena and Wyatt roll away from eachother and Joe grabs Wyatt and throws him out of the ring violently, before putting Cena in the corner. He lifts up Cena, puts him in position and takes him out with the Muscle Buster! Joe hooks the leg and gets the 1...2...3!
Winner and advancing to the DFW World Title Match: Samoa Joe @12:17

After the match, Samoa Joe rolls out and storms up the ramp, his mission accomplished. As Ranallo and Booker hype the match up of Ambrose vs Joe, Joe stops only at the top of the ramp to turn and raise his hand in the air, much to the disapproval of the crowd. The show ends with Samoa Joe standing tall.
