I'd be surprised if we saw a World War III. Even if North Korea launched a nuclear missile at someone all the other countries would either completely wipe North Korea off the map, of they'd annihilate their army and bases so fast that the "war" would be before it started so that the ones responsible are held accountable... more like a battle than a war.
Granted, with how weapons are these days, it would be quite devastating... so I'd go with they'd be stopped before they could. If they really thought that there was a threat, they'd be stopped before they could do anything and would be completely neutralised.
North Korea are a joke. The only very real threats the western world should be afraid of is China and Russia - and as powerful as they may be, I don't see either country deciding to set off some nukes.

A few weeks ago America successfully fired a Minuteman III from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California some 4,000 miles in North Korea’s direction, landing in the Marshall Islands. They were really not subtle in that testing.
North Korea today successfully tested their latest missile and are talking about making one that is capable of reaching US mainland, which their current ones can't reach.
The North Korean state news agency KCNA quoted Kim Jong-un as saying that, “if the United States were to face our republic with a harsh, miserable blunder, the US would not be able to suffer the greatest disaster ever.”
So basically, if America want to fuck with them, they'd regret it.
Who knew that when World War III kicked off, it was between a guy that looks like he hugs teddy bears to sleep in his My Little Pony castle and a thick guy that wants Mexicans to build the wall of all walls because he doesn't want Mexicans near him and would date his own daughter.
It's looking more and more likely that this might happen. Although I can't blame Trump one bit. From the moment he was put in charge of such power, I assumed that he would be the cause of WWIII. So whilst it wouldn't be a surprise to see him a part of it, I can't blame him one bit. North Korea are just being dicks and Trump has the right to defend his country, as he should do. Will be interesting to see what countries get involved it this goes any further.
I still think unless China or Russia ally with NK during an actual war, that NK are no major threat and would be dealt with before they could do anything on the level of World War III.

War with NK would be over in about as long as it takes me to make some toast.
If I was in charge it would be over quickly. One nice big bomb right into the centre. They'll want to go for less casualties as possible so won't bomb the shit out of the place.
You know they'll come to some sort of solution before things get too far though. Just sad that we're even able to talk about it.

That's terrible. If you dropped a nuclear bomb right now unprovoked, it would lead to chaos around the globe.

That's terrible. If you dropped a nuclear bomb right now unprovoked, it would lead to chaos around the globe.
I wouldn't go as far to say it's unprovoked, but it would certainly be a rash and dumb decision.

Definitely not unprovked. And I'd obviously wait for them to officially declare war. You don still officially declare war, right? They declare it, I drop it, bang, it's over, I win with no casualties on my side. I wouldn't be the starter, but I'd be the finisher in a war where my country is being threatened with nukes.
Although I do get the feeling that if I was in charge of a country, I might go a little power crazy. There'd be some serious narcissism going on. Good job I'll never come close to ruling anything really.
Seen a lot online about World War III today. People are getting scared that it's going to happen soon, most likely started by Russia and North Korea. China are apparently on high alert and have put in place strategies to reduce the amount of time it would take them to get to North Korea. North Korea have apparently threatened the US with a nuclear missile, although how true that is remains to be seen as you'd think that would be a pretty stupid thing to do. It's not like Trump has shown that he'll stand for that. 3 months in and he's already approved a huge missile strike on one country. Doubt he'd hesitate to a real threat from North Korea.
Now the biggest problem if there is any truth to any of it, is that N.Korea haven't exactly been shy in their building on Nuclear weapons. The only good news is that the range and fallout of the weapons means that this side of Europe would be safe. Well, our army probably wouldn't be as you know the EU wouldn't be able to help but get involved. But us mere peasants will be fine.
Sadly, with how weapons are these days, a new world war would be significantly different to the previous 2. Planes can get in the air a lot faster than previously, fly faster, easier to maneuver. Ships carry even more devastating weapons that can hit land targets with fairly decent aim from a long way out at sea. And there's organisations, like ISIS, who would be waiting in the wings for peoples guards to be defending against something else so that they can deliver savage blows. It would really be a war like no other.
When I was in school, many years ago, there was talk that the next world war would be the end of us all. Might not be that drastic, but if one does kick off, then the world will be drastically changed no matter what the devastation is, as everyone would go all out to make sure that there's not a World War IV.
