Here's mine:

Recordings:
"Rose of Sharyn" by Killswitch Engage
Killswitch Engage are my favourite band of all time and if I'm picking only eight songs I get to listen to arguably forever, then Killswitch Engage's "Rose of Sharyn" is my first choice. It is a heartbreaking, facemelting metalcore jam that will entertain me no end.
Wonderwall by Oasis
For as long as I can remember, Wonderwall by Oasis has been one of my favourite songs. It's so easy to sing along to, one of the most iconic songs of all time I think.
"The Element of One" by Killswitch Engage
Killswitch Engage has two amazing lead singers and I can't just have one song by one singer so here is my favourite song by Jesse Leach as the frontman.
"The Scientist" by Coldplay
Coldplay are an incredible band that tend to get hate that I feel is totally undeserved. They have been a constant in my life when it comes to music.
"Viva La Vida" by Coldplay
There's not many an uplifting song that is as good as this one. I imagine it would give me good motivation on hard days.
"Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson
MJ is iconic and I love his music. Man in the Mirror is probably my favourite song so if I'm taking one song to remember him by it's this one.
"Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane
The piano rock band are another one of my favourite bands and this song is as good as any to represent them in my Desert Island Discs.
"Trick of the Light" by Lonely the Brave
This song just bleeds urgency and passion, and I just love everything about it.
Book:
This is really tough. Just one book. So many jump to me that I'd wanna take, but it'd have to be my first love: Harry Potter - and of course, the last book I feel is the best written and with the satisfying ending to the series, so that's the one I'd take.
Luxury Item:
A working type writer with a lifetime supply of paper.

Recordings:
I'd happily take disc one of Metallica's S&M album. Even if the last few songs have to be cut. Could listen to that album all the time and never get bored of it.
Book:
Probably Dune. Great book, but so long and full of information it makes me think that even after a few readings it would still be enjoyable. One of my absolute favourites and long enough that it could be re-read many times without becoming bored of it.
Luxury Item:
Sun glasses. I hate the sun, so a desert island would be awful to me. Would be far too bright. Sun glasses would make me comfortable and save headaches.

Desert Island Discs is a radio show that has been going for decades with the basic premise being famous people tell listeners their "Desert Island Discs". These are eight recordings (usually, but not always, songs) that they will have to listen to stranded on a Desert Island.
As a bonus, you are also given The Bible and the complete works of Shakespeare to take with you, as well as one more book of your choosing.
Finally, you get a luxury item. It can't be anything super useful, it's more for something to make you feel a bit more comfortable in your time there eg. maybe a lifetime supply of tomato ketchup or a vat of Novocaine for when you get toothache (these have both been chosen by people in the past).
So my question is, what are your Desert Island Discs?
-What eight recordings would you take and why?
-What book would you take to go with the ones you're given and why?
-What is your luxury item and why?
