I also saw Central Intelligence the other night. Really hilarious. I knew Kevin Hart was funny but The Rock really showed his comedy chops. 8/10

I also saw Now You See Me 2, which isn't as good as the original, but it still holds up as a solid magician film. 6/10

Suicide Squad: Better than critics made out, not amazing, but good. 7/10

True Memoirs of an International Assassin with Kevin James. It was such a bad movie. Bland, not funny, and boring for the most part. Seems to be a trend with Kevin James 😋

Bridge of Spies
Good cold war movie with Tom Hanks. As usual, he delivers as he does with most of his films. I'll give it an 8/10.

Anchorman - Seen it before, but don't think I've ever mentioned it here. The comedy is great at times, awkward at others, but overall, it's a pretty good movie to just watch because you're bored. 7/10

Some more films I recently watched for the first time or for the first time in a long time:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: Got better towards the end, but honestly, was pretty average. Certainly don't know what all the fuss is about. It was funny and quirky at times, but overall, it was just meh. 6/10.

The Cable Guy: Again, it was decent but not amazing. Not as funny as I remember it being but it certainly had it's funny moments. 6/10

La La Land

I liked the film as an overall piece. Although, the praise it's getting at awards time is unheralded.

Remember a few years back when everyone was sick of CGI & 3D junk films. Then out came The Artist, a silent, black & white film which everyone thought was amazing. It wasn't anything remarkable. Fast forward 5 years. Scythe through all of the super hero shite that's released every month. Now we've got La La Land. A film that reminiscences about the singing & the dancing from the 1950's musical. It's like Singing In The Rain. The plot is basic, the characters don't progress. Ryan Gosling plays himself. They fall in love, they fall out of love. The 2 hours go quick but I didn't get those feels afterwards.

Monster Trucks

We took my son to see this today for his 4th birthday.   Not gonna lie, it was way better then it had any right to be.  The cast was great and the concept was a lot of fun.  The message was a tad heavy handed but over all we had fun.

7/10

Bernie (2011)
Black comedy starring Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey and chronicles the 1996 murder of 80-year-old millionaire Marjorie Nugent in Carthage, Texas by her 39-year-old companion, Bernhardt "Bernie" Tiede (portrayed by Black). Eh. It was OK. Bit boring though. Critics say it's Black's best performance to date, it was a good performance, but it was nothing stand out to me. 5/10

Moonwalkers (2015)
Ron Perlman and Ruper Grint star in this "comedy" about a CIA agent who mistakes Grint as the agent of Stanley Kubrick, and then has to work with Grint (an irresponsible, down on his luck, rubbish band manager) to fake the moon landing. At moments it seemed like it could be funny, but the film as a whole pretty much fell flat on it's face. 4/10

The Blue Print

The last few I watched.

War Dogs - Good movie. I get a feeling that Jonah Hill really loves these types of roles. He had a similar role in The Wolf of Wall Street. Anyways, I enjoyed this movie.

The Do Over - This is a Netflix original. Apparently Adam Sandler has a 4 movie deal with them. Well this one sucks, but that isn't surprising since everything Sandler touches now is terrible.

The Impossible - This movie is about a family that went on vacation to Thailand in 2004 and got stuck in the Tsunami that hit the coast. Pretty heart breaking movie. A good watch though. It stars that dude who played Obi Wan in the Star Wars prequels.

Hacksaw Ridge. Great film and Andrew Garfield deserves any nominations that come his way.

Looper - Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis play the same person, decades apart in age. Like most time travel stories, it has holes, but it was thrilling, with a strong focus on the characters rather than the premise. Gordon-Levitt did a great job at resembling Bruce Willis with several nuances (and a little help from the make-up department). Overall, I'd give it an 8.

Now that's a film that I haven't watched in a long time but keep meaning to. I enjoyed it first time round. Been wondering whether I will upon second viewing... I'm sure I will. And they really did do a good job in making it look like Gordon-Levitt was a younger Willis. I read that they added a few prosthetic features, like reshaping his nose and all that. They wanted to do it subtlety so that he still looked like himself, but also could look like a younger Willis. Was very well done.

The Purge: Election Year
Was a good end to the trilogy. I quite like the films overall and their premise, but I'm glad that they came up with a way to end the series at the right time with a story that actually made sense. Would give it an 8.

The Lego Batman Movie
I hated the original Lego Movie. If I recall, I rated it a 2. This one, however, was great. Lots of jokes for the kids, and a lot more jokes for the parents, it was a barrel of laughs from beginning to end. Seriously, even if you didn't like the original Lego movie (although I know I'm in the minority with that one) you should check out Lego Batman. Easily an 8/10.

The wife and I did a double header recently.

A Cure for Wellness:
This was such a great film.  While it was pretty obvious where it was heading, it was still a great movie.   It's more than  just the sum of its parts.  There's a deeper elament here that makes this this thing worth watching.
9/10

The Great wall:
My only complaint was that it was really short.  Otherwise we loved it.  The humour and action balanced each other out nicely.  It just seemed a bit rushed at the end.
7/10

Oh one more.
Arrival
This film was very close to cinematic perfection.  It's one that needs a couple viewings of and deep discussion about.  I can't really say much without giving it away, but watch it.  It's so good!
10/10

I also saw Arrival recently, it was very good, not a perfect 10 though. I'd give it a 9. Very good film though, which yeah, is hard to talk about without spoiling much.

Logan. Awesome film. Stewart and Jackman were exceptional. I liked the Wolverine, but Logan blows that out of the water. As a fan of the comics, you'd think that some parts would annoy me, but it was so well done that it's easy to look past the changes that they did to some things. I don't mind when they change some times so long as they're done well. Logan is going to be one of my favourite films of the year, I'm happy enough to say that even though we've only just hit March.

Kong Skull Island. I can't decide between a 8 or a 9. Was great fun and the fight scenes with Kong and the other monsters were superb. I'll probably give it a 9 because I want to see it again.

In Your Eyes
Romantic drama with paranormal elements starring Zoe Kazan and Michael Stahl-David as basically a woman and a man can see what the other sees and hear what they are saying. People around them think their crazy. It's some-parts funny, some-parts dramatic, some-parts feel good. It was a good movie overall. I'd give it an 8.

Watched Inglorious Basterds last night. Really enjoyed the film. I think my opinion on Tarrintino is changing. Used to not like his movies, but maybe I didn't give them a fair shake. Very good movie.

Watched a movie called "Win It All" it is a Netflix original and it stars the dude who plays Nick MIller on the show New Girl. It was a decent movie. Does a good job showing the troubles that some people can have with gambling when it becomes a problem.

Just remembered another recent movie.

Paterson. Literally a two hour movie about a bus driver who likes to write poems and NOTHING HAPPENS. The acting was fine, the setting was fine, but there was basically no plot. One event of significance happens like 80% of the way in but it doesn't even feel like an event. Shame considering Adam Driver is a decent lead. Boring. 3/10
