I think people just need to realize, he isn't that bad... and he likely not going to be the guy like Cena was... he will be a main star for wwe for a long time... but i see him more being like Orton, rather than Cena.
I just began asking myself why do i hate Roman? and i really had no legit answer to it.
I think the biggest problem is if the fans think something is unnatural they're never going to buy it.
One thing that has got me is that, ever since the Shield has broken up, he's still doing the same thing. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose have moved onto different gimmicks. Reigns has the same music, same gear, he use to still come out of the crowd too. He's never found his own character and is just carrying on doing what he's always done.
He wasn't even supposed to be in the Shield until Vince & Triple H turned down CM Punk's idea of Chris Hero & put Reigns in instead. So he's been groomed for a long time to try and become a star. If you look up Roman Leakee on Google Images, you can see how generic he looked before joining the Shield.

That's what I mean. There's far, far worse than Reigns. I don't think people are booing him because he's bad. He's not great, but he's got the ability needed. I wouldn't even mind him being at Ortons level. They just need to make some minor changes to how he's booked and they could get fans on side. Maybe a heel turn is needed in between as it could be difficult to get fans on his side right now. Make him heel, then when they turn him face again make a few tweeks to how they've booked him so far and he'll be fine.
I just hope they stop pushing his superman punch like it's the best move in the company. Worked fine when he was with the Shield as he had less ring time. I guess that's the problem of having a limited move set and one of your moves is a punch.
My mate get's annoyed at him because of his look, like Rossman pointed out. Nothing has changed from his Shield days, he's not evolved at all, apart from adding, as my mate likes to point out, his "faggish" (his words not mine) shield padding on his chest/abdomen. Why that bothers him so much I don't know. But yeah, he needs to change himself up a bit. At least he doesn't come through the crowd anymore so there's that at least.
He get's booed an awful lot still. Most people have seen the report that WWE sent him out last to piss the fans off so that they would cheer Orton winning, despite him being a heel (work that logic out!). So, what would you do to get Reigns back on the fans side in the main event?
For me, it would be to stop having him do the superman punch so bloody much during matches. It was cool to begin with, WWE picked up on it and now it happens so much during a match that it's lost all coolness. A few weeks ago he hit multiple people in a row with it. Proper overkill with a punch move.
So number one would be to dial down with that particular move and make it feel cool again.
Number two would be to stop having him refer to himself as the guy.
Number three, have him sell. Too many times, like with Cena, they've had him do something after a beatdown either in the same night or straight after a PPV and he looks fresh as anything. Sell injuries, it shows weakness and would make him seem less shoved down our throats as being their top guy.
