WWE is introducing the WWE United Kingdom Championship in January on the WWE Network. I assume the title will go to SmackDown, since RAW already has an extra title.

By the way, WWE  are thieving bastards. First they stole my GM Game Asylum match, now they've stolen the UK Championship too!

I was just about to post this. The belt looks nice.

Personally think they missed out on Barrett. I know he was a bit injury prone, but he was good. Awful booking ruined him really. Used right he would have been a good main event talent and could easily have seen him being champion.

I like this though, it'll be nice to highlight UK talent on a global stage like WWE.

This is going to be awesome. Apparently it will feature sixteen wrestlers from the UK and Ireland, will be held in Blackpool's Empress Ballroom on January 14th and 15th with the winner getting the title. From the guys I've seen listed, there are some real young guys in there. I think there were two 19 year olds. It's fantastic to see such young talent being given a go by WWE.

Don't think the title will end up on main brand. The rumours are that they might have a weekly network only British show. Contracts they've signed allow them to continue to work various British indys, though presumably not all. Feel a bit bad for Progress who are running Brum on the same day, but BSS's heel run could be excellent if they're allowed to continue this. Anyone going to Blackpool?

RAW has an extra title, and also that extra title is featured on its own weekly show. I expect the UK Title will be the SD equivalent. I'd bet my house on it.

I doubt they'll leave the UK much. It'll just be a Network thing. Really can't see it making it's way onto Raw, Smackdown or PPV's (except for maybe the Rumble)

I'd certainly take that bet. I'm fairly sure the UK title will stay as the belt for the weekly UK network show (and presumably on SD for UK tours). See: www.bleedingcool.com/2016/12/15/blimey-wwe-announces-new-uk-championship-tournament-weekly-show/

I'd say I've seen about half of them wrestle, and there's 4 or 5 I've seen loads based simply on the promotions I go to (Progress, WCPW, Rev Pro, PCW, Fight Club Pro, ICW). Pete Dunne and Trent Seven (centre stage with HHH) are probably the biggest names (again, excuse my biases). Trent wrestled Wolfgang for the belt at the big Hydro ICW last month, and Moustache Mountain (Trent with young Tyler Bate) are pretty popular. Pete is the current champ at Progress. Together, Pete, Trent and Tyler make up a heel group in Progress, but Moustache Mountain are mostly faces everywhere else. Joseph Conners is pretty big in WCPW, right?

Also, look out for James Drake - he will, fingers crossed, have a picture of his face on the back of his trunks and will be met with a chorus of 'arse face, no fans', 'he's got his own face on his arse' etc. Which will be on a WWE produced show - so that will be excellent.

I love that they got Nigel McGuinness in to commentate on this, I must admit.

Joseph Conners, Pete Dunne, Trent Seven are alll in WCPW, and Conners is former WCPW Champ. They are all pretty good. I gotta say the lack of Big Damo in this tournament is a little disappointing.

And I can't actually bet my house, I don't own it, but sure, let's make a "not really a bet" bet that the UK Title will be on SD then.

I don't back out of anything! £5 is yours, OMC, if that title isn't featured on SD by say, Mania.

Call it a £5 charity bet and I'm in. Let's say 3 matches on SD by Mania. I think they might do some cross promotional stuff, but I think this belt will be very much a UK based one.

Big Damo signed at the same time as Tommy End, and they're both on proper developmental NXT contracts as opposed to the weird indie-but-no-compete contracts that are involved with the Blackpool shows weekly UK shows.

If I'm being honest, there's a LOAD of wrestlers who I would have loved to have been involved in this (Grado, Zack Gibson, El Ligero, Eddie Dennis, Rampage Brown, Dave Mastiff) I assume the fact they were on the ITV show might have something to do with it? Obviously Scurll and Ospreay are tied up with ROH, and Mark Andrews is with TNA. Which leaves ZSJ, where the rumour is he is doing something in America next year, but we don't know what yet.

Agreed there, I was hoping for at least a recognizable name or two.  Granted, a lot of the big names have been either nabbed up by them, in TNA, or recently did the CWC.

I'd like to see Joe Coffey and where the fuck has Jody Fleisch been?

Coffey is the only one who HHH would love but isn't on the stage and I can't account for him anywhere else. Can anyone help?

Some cool comments on it from Triple H.

The goal of the U.K. Championship tournament:

"That’s the goal, is to become a weekly show. Hopefully we can make that work out, a weekly show that can feature the best of the U.K. talent and put that out there in a way that gives talent here a clear path into the WWE. Starting here and moving up the line and going through things. I think that’s a huge opportunity and will help everybody down the line."

If they are interested in signing Will Ospreay:

"Will Ospreay is an amazing talent. There’s a lot of amazing talent out there. When they’re available, when it’s the right time for them, I wanna work with all of them. It’s funny to me people say things along the lines of this guy is an amazing talent but maybe he’s not the right fit, or this guy doesn’t have the experience. If they’re great at this, then talent is talent. I wanna bring in the best talent, I wanna help them be better. I wanna take our process and help them be the best they can be.

"Some people go like, ‘Oh, they try to fix things.’ We don’t try to fix things, we try to make them better. I learn something new every single day about the business, because it changes on a daily basis. Anybody [who] thinks they don’t have anything to learn in this business is crazy."

Kinda weird timing seeing as how WWE just signed several big name UK and Euro talents like Big Damo and Tommy End.  I'm definitely interested as I only recognized Pete Dunne out of the sixteen guys in the tourney.

Pretty cool to see ROH ahead of WWE in some instances by being able to sign away Will Ospreay and Marty Scrull right before WWE starting sniffing around them.  (they did the same with The Young Bucks apparently last year and this year!)

As for the weekly show, I hope to see nods to some older UK draws like Jody Fliesch (spelling?), Doug Williams, maybe even have Robbie Brookside make a few appearances.  Johnny Saint and Rollerball Rocco will certainly be mentioned and I know Regal will make his presence known there too.

Then, just to put a cherry on top of all this, Nigel McGuinness as GM/Match Maker?  Sold sold sold sold sold and sold.
