GWA Blaze
Week 2
Live from Chicago, Illinois

The opening video plays, showing highlights from GWA shows past, particularly of the guys who are still around like Kane, Daniel Bryan, Rhyno and Japanese Honor. After the video plays, we cut to the arena, and the new theme for GWA, "Re-Education (Through Labour)" by Rise Against blasts through the PA system as the crowd is panned by the camera.

A video package airs. A narrator goes through the rules of the match while showing clips of the structure and also the match itself. Ten men qualify, four start in the ring with another entrant every 90 seconds. Eliminations may occur through pinfall or submission. When the tenth person enters the ring a cell is lowered over the ring. From that point on, there are no more eliminations. The winner is whoever can climb the cell and retrieve the briefcase hanging from the ceiling. Whoever wins this briefcase is guaranteed a title shot at WrestleWars II which will take place in Week 10. The narrator also reminds us of the first ever Asylum match, with a clip, showing Steven Richards picking up the victory to get a shot at the GPW World Championship, which was later unified with RWA's to make the current GWA Championship. Finally, the narrator warns us that the match is dangerous and shows a clip of Heidenreich getting thrown off the Cell and through a table when the first match took place. Then we get a preview of tonight's show: three men will qualify for this year's Asylum tonight! The TV Championship will be on the line as Mason Ryan takes on new signing Kevin Steen - and finally, we will hear from the brand new GWA Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan!

Pyro show to kick us off and then we cut to the sole commentator Mick Foley.

Mick Foley: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to GWA Blaze, live, right here, in Chicago, Illinois! History was made in last week's SuperShow as Daniel Bryan became not only the new GWA Heavyweight Champion but also the first ever triple crown winner! Tonight, he hosts his Triple Crown Celebration!

'Honor'

And the first men out to kick off the show are the former GWA Tag Champions, Japanese Honor. They make their way down to the ring for this tag team Asylum qualifier. They shake hands in the ring and await their opponents.

'Wolves'

And a big pop for the return of the former champions, who signed just after last week's show! The American Wolves make their way down to the ring to take on their opponents.

Match One - The Asylum Qualifier
Japanese Honor (Naomichi Marufuji & Takashi Suguira) v The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)

The match goes back and forth between the two teams for five minutes or so, until The Wolves start taking control by isolating Marufuji. A combination of Lariats and high flying splashes give Marufuji the opportunity to tag in Sugiura, who hits the Olympic Slam no Edwards for the victory.
Winners and qualified for The Asylum: Japanese Honor

The Japanese duo celebrate their victory with the fans. Meanwhile, Foley talks us through the match.

Mick Foley: So with this result, Marufuji and Sugiura join Rhyno and Brock Lesnar in this year's Asylum match! Later tonight, one more man will qualify to make the total of five out of ten competitors confirmed!

We cut backstage, where Paul Burchill is in the General Manager's office. Booker T shakes his hand, but Burchill isn't in the mood.

Paul Burchill: Booker, I know you have a show to run so I'll get straight to the point. Bryan insulted me even more last week when he hit me with my own finisher. I've got so much rage built in me that I feel like I'm going to snap at any moment. Give me Bryan in a match tonight.

Booker T: Man, I can't give you a title match tonight - Bryan's next defence is at The Asylum PPV.

Paul Burchill: This isn't about the title Book. This is about me getting revenge after Bryan has sought out to ruin me. I need to do this.

Booker T: I understand, man, but Bryan is doing his celebration tonight and I've given him the week off in terms of matches. But hey, this is what I can do for you - tonight, I want you to face The Rock! And the winner of that match - will get a shot at the GWA Championship at The Asylum!

Paul Burchill: Fine. If that's the only way I'm going to get my hands on him, then The Rock has got a fight coming to him tonight.

Booker T: I'll be watchin' dawg.

Burchill leaves the office and Booker T looks on as we cut to a commercial break.

~Commercial Break~

'Here and Now or Never'

When we return, we're back to the ring for the GWA TV Championship match! Mason Ryan, the champion, comes out to a decent reaction from the crowd after knocking off fellow Welshman Rob Terry last week.

'Steen'

His opponent, brand new GWA signing, Kevin Steen! He gets a negative reaction but he could care less. He's here for one reason and one reason only - to win the TV Title.

Match Two - GWA TV Championship
Mason Ryan (c) v Kevin Steen

Another evenly matched match-up here as both men go back and forth taking out their opponent with their arsenal. Even toward the end, they reverse moves and hit big slams and bombs but both men don't quit. The finish comes with Steen attempting a Powerbomb which is reversed into a Back Body Drop. Ryan then takes out Steen with a sit-out Powerbomb of his own to win the match and retain the title.
Winner and STILL TV Champion: Mason Ryan

Ryan grabs his belt from ringside and celebrates with the fans and then makes his way up the ramp. Steen however recovers and chases after Ryan, clubbing him in the back of the head and stomping the hell out of him. He then grabs Ryan and whips him into the steel steps. As Steen looks to continue the assault, Rob Terry runs down to make the save. He fights off Steen, who escapes over the barricade as Terry sees to Ryan. He helps up the champion and helps him to the back.

Mick Foley: Well it's a good thing Terry came to help out Mason Ryan. That could have ended a lot worse if he hadn't! The important thing though is Ryan has retained the TV Title and coming up next ladies and gentlemen, is our second Asylum qualifier! We'll see you soon!

~Commercial Break~

When we return, we are backstage. The Primetime Players are in one of the locker rooms, polishing their tag team belts.

Young: Man, these belts are slammin' ... man, they must be worth...
O'Neil: Well, when we're wearing them, they worth millions o' dollas, right?

Young and O'Neil laugh it up as The Usos make their way into the locker room. Jimmy and Jey walk up to the champs.

Jimmy: Don't get too attached to the titles, boys - we aren't giving up yet. We want a rematch for the titles.
O'Neil: Is that right?

???: Hold on a second...

The Usos and Primetime turn to see another tag team enter, The American Wolves.

Jey: Don't tell me you two want a title shot - you lost your match tonight.
Edwards: And you lost yours last week - against the champions, no less - so let's not count scores.

Richards and Edwards turn their attention to the champions.

Richards: You think you're so great? Get in the ring with us - we were the champs before GWA's closure - so we're entitled to a shot at those belts.

Primetime Players get to their feet, put the titles over their shoulders, and start walking out.

Young: Take it up with Booker T. Hell, we'll face all of you and still leave with the titles. You ain't nothing.

Primetime Players leave and The Usos and The Wolves have a little staredown as we cut away to the ring for the next match.

'Slow Chemical'

Kane comes out to the ring, knowing if he wins this match, he'll move on to The Asylum and get an opportunity to main event WrestleWars II. He also looks angry (as always) since he lost the triple threat title match last week that was won by Daniel Bryan.

'Omega'

Kenny Omega makes his way down to the ring, followed of course by his mentor, Bret Hart. While favourite to lose, winning this match would shoot him into stardom as he would qualify for the brutal Asylum.

Match Three - The Asylum Qualifier
Kane v Kenny Omega w/Bret Hart

While an energetic and confident Omega can be dangerous, it's nowhere near as dangerous as a pissed off monster called Kane. Kane is in no mood tonight and while Omega gets some offense in, it's a pretty dominant victory within four minutes to put the Big Red Monster in the Asylum match.
Winner and qualified for The Asylum: Kane

Mick Foley: It's hard to pick a favourite at this point, but you'd be silly not to consider Kane one of the favourites to win this year's Asylum! A dominating display and we all know what he's capable of in an environment such as The Asylum!

Kane leaves the ring without another second to waste, not celebrating or doing anything, just leaving having booked a place in the most brutal match in GWA.

We cut backstage to the interview area, but of course GWA has no interviewer, but the person standing in the area doesn't NEED an interviewer, as the fans go nuts for The Rock!

The Rock: Tonight, I have a huge opportunity to take something I thought I'd never have again... and that is... oh wait a sec, hold on...

The Rock repositions, mic in the air, head up...

The Rock: FINALLY.... The Rock... HAS COME BACK... TO.. CHI-CA-GO!!

The fans go nuts and The Rock smiles, loving the reaction.

The Rock: Like The Rock was saying, tonight I have an opportunity to take something I thought I'd never have again - a shot at the GWA Heavyweight Championship! If you had asked me last year if I ever thought I'd be a World Champion again, I'd say no way jack. But not because I don't believe I can do it - The Rock KNOWS he can do it - but because it's a different game. This isn't 2001 anymore. The Rock is older. And for every Rock there is, there are ten more youngsters trying to take his spot. Daniel Bryan is one of those people. He's been around almost as long as The Rock but he's only in recent years excelled to the heights of a world famous household name... and these people are the future of the wrestling industry. The Rock wants to point something out though - The Rock is not retired - The Rock is not too old to wrestle - and The Rock is hungry for World Championship Gold!

So tonight, I'm going in the ring with Paul Burchill - we're going to tear eachother apart and blow the roof off the arena because we both are passionate and we both want this opportunity. And Paul, while I consider you a friend, tonight is about one thing and one thing only - taking that opportunity. You said yourself that for you this isn't about the title - you just want Bryan in the ring - and I can totally understand that - The Rock would be the same way if he'd done to me what he'd done to you - but tonight, because I want the opportunity at gold more, I am going to get this opportunity - and when I do, I'm going to The Asylum PPV and I'm going to take Daniel Bryan's boot, shine it up real nice, turn that sumbitch sideways and stick it straight up his own candy ass - and then I'm going to be GWA Heavyweight Champion! After that happens, as far as The Rock is concerned, you can do what you want with Bryan. Paul, tonight, in our match, I expect nothing from the best from you, because you're going to get nothing but the best from me - IF YA SMEEEEEEEELLLL ... what The Rock is cookin'...

Mick Foley: Ladies and gentlemen, the match to decide Daniel Bryan's first challenger - The Rock vs Paul Burchill - is NEXT!

~Commercial Break~

We're in the GM's office with Booker T. He gets a knock on the door and in enter Chavo Guerrero and his cousin, the new GWA Womens Champion, and daughter of the late, great Eddie Guerrero, Raquel Diaz.

Booker T: Ah, Chavo, Raquel - I was wondering when you'd get here.

Chavo Guerrero: Why did you want to see us?

Booker T: I have something you might want to hear - next week, you'll be taking on Sin Cara for the GWA Cruiserweight Championship.

Chavo is a little surprised.

Chavo Guerrero: Huh? Well, great! No problem.

Booker T: But -

Chavo's face drops.

Booker T: Raquel, you will team up with Chavo in that match to take on Sin Cara and Sara Del Rey - and the GWA Womens Championship will also be on the line!

Chavo Guerrero: Hold on, ese ... that's not fair!

Raquel puts her arm out to shut Chavo up, and speaks for herself.

Raquel Diaz: Booker, you've been around a long time. You've wrestled with the greats, my Dad included, and you've wrestled the nobodies. When it comes to the Womens division, you don't have any experience to go by. You can't wrestle us so you don't know who's the best and who's the nobody. I'm here to tell you I'm not the best GWA Womens Champion - I'm the best Women's Champion across all promotions. Period. And next week, when I beat Sara Del Rey again, I'm going to prove it... and as a bonus, my cousin Chavo here, the greatest Cruiserweight across all promotions, will prove that too. People looked up to my father, they respected him even though he ignored the rules and you know why? Because he proved he was the best... so that's exactly what I plan on doing. I'm the Queen, and this title is my throne...

Chavo and Raquel leave the office, and Booker T looks to be in deep thought about how confident Raquel Diaz is. Maybe she is a chip off the old block...

'Ripper'

Paul Burchill comes out to a great ovation from the crowd, but with the biggest match in his career about to unfold, who knows what's going through his head. He gets in the ring and waits for the inevitable explosion from the fans when this music hits...

'Is Cookin'

The Rock comes out, for his first match in GWA, and his first match in years. He looks confident and the fans believe in him, despite the inevitable rustiness from having not wrestled in so long. He gets in the ring and the fans start a "LET'S GO ROCKY! LET'S GO BURCHILL!" back and forth chant. Both men shake hands and then circle each other to kick off this big match!

Match Four - GWA Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender
Paul Burchill v The Rock

For the first few minutes, Burchill is in control, with rustiness from Rocky coming into play. He does fight back though, finds his feet and the match begins to level out. They take eachother out with suplexes, slams, lariats, clotheslines, spinebusters, bulldogs and DDTs for the next few action-packed minutes. Burchill hits a big C4 out of nowhere after around nine minutes, but The Rock incredibly kicks out! The Rock makes his way back into the match, and eventually hits The Rock Bottom! But Burchill kicks out at two! The Rock sets up Burchill for a second one when the lights go out. Confusion from the announce table as we can't see a thing. Eventually, the lights come on. And The Rock is laid out on the floor, with the referee laid out on the outside, and Paul Burchill's arm draped over the People's Champion. After a few moments, a new referee runs down to the ring and counts the pinfall... 1...2...3!! Burchill wins but not in the way he intended and a lot of confusion surrounding the events.
Winner: Paul Burchill

Mick Foley: Ladies and gentlemen, I apologise for this. The match has ended not in the way we'd hoped and one can only assume this is the work of Daniel Bryan! What's hard to understand though is why would Danielson help Burchill win when he has himself said he thinks nothing of Burchill? We're going to a commercial break while we try and get some answers.

~Commercial Break~

We are in Booker T's office with The Rock, who has an ice pack to his head and Burchill, who is holding an ice pack to his ribs.

Booker T: I'm sorry that ended the way it did guys.

The Rock: Book, ya gotta do something... Daniel Bryan screwed me out of this shot. I was this close from beating Paul.

Paul Burchill: I beg to differ... I kicked out of one of your Rock Bottoms and I would have easily kicked out of the second.

The Rock: There's no way in blue hell...

The two start talking over each other until Booker T shouts.

Booker T: Aight - AIGHT, GUYS! CUT IT OUT. Now I don't agree with what has happened but the referee counted the fall and so Burchill wins the match and will challenge Bryan at The Asylum for the title.

The Rock: And what about me? Where does The Rock stand in all this after being screwed?

Booker T: I have something in mind... let's talk about it in private...

The camera cuts back to the ring, leaving an air of mystery as to what Booker has in store for The Rock, but the time to ponder on it is not now and 'Flight of the Valkyries' hits the PA system and out comes Daniel Bryan. With the GWA Heavyweight Championship on his shoulder, he walks down to the ring to a sea of confetti falling from the sky. He enters the ring, where there is a podium and a mic attached. There is also a big TV set up behind the podium. The TV is playing on loop the moment when Bryan pinned Burchill last week to win the title. Bryan takes his place on the podium and grins.

Daniel Bryan: YEEEEAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Huge negative reaction from the crowd as Bryan rubs his victory in their faces.

Daniel Bryan: I told you - I TOLD EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU LOSERS - that I was making history and last week that's exactly what I did! I am the GWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!! I am the FIRST-EVER Triple Crown Champion in GWA. Nobody has ever done that - NOBODY! I have set the path for others in the future to follow - I have started a history-making achievement. From here on out, kids will look at me and say "I want to be a triple crown champion when I grow up." -- although just to warn you kids, as long as I'm still on the scene, you won't be winning anything. Once I've retired though, I'm sure someone will do what I've done. But I will always be the first to have done it.

Daniel Bryan raises the GWA Heavyweight Championship in the air, much to the disapproval of the crowd, but since when does he care?

Daniel Bryan: Now, while I'm out here, I do have something to say regarding the local loser, Paul Burchill - he beat The Rock tonight in... mysterious... fashion. The lights went out and whaddya know, he's won the match?! I got dibs on interference from The Undertaker ... had to be him with all the lights going out, right?

Daniel Bryan laughs, as if he knows exactly what happened when the lights went out, but enjoys acting like he doesn't anyway.

Daniel Bryan: So anyway, despite the mysterious circumstances, it does mean that he gets a shot at my title... well, actually, let me rephrase that - he gets a shot at me, because he has no chance in hell of taking this title from me. Burchill has always been that one guy who I always show that I'm better to but he doesn't seem to get the message... here Burchill, let me say it slowly.... YOU... ARE... A... LOSER.... I... AM... A... WINNER. I took your spotlight, I took your wife ... the only thing you have that I haven't taken is your career - but I guess your career now has a ticking time bomb attached to it, because after I'm through with you at The Asylum PPV, you won't even be able to continue your career... and let me tell you something else -

'Can You Dig It, Sucka!?'

Booker T comes out and the crowd seem especially happy that someone has shut up Daniel Bryan. He stands on stage with a mic.

Booker T: No, Bryan, please don't tell us something else, because I have a couple of things to tell you...

Bryan: Make it quick, I'm trying to celebrate here...

Booker: At the Asylum PPV, in your match against Burchill, dawg, you will fight under No Disqualification Rules!

Bryan looks angry at first, but then shrugs it off.

Bryan: All the better to end his career I guess.

Booker T: I ain't finished yet, dawg... it'll be a No Disqualification match - with a SPECIAL REFEREE - and the referee - is standing right behind you.

Bryan turns immediately, but he's not quick enough as he gets grabbed by THE ROCK and taken out with a ROCK BOTTOM! The Rock shouts some trash to the champion, and then gets on the turnbuckle and celebrates his one-upsmanship over Bryan.

Booker T: NOW CAN YOU DIG THAT... SUCKAAAA?!?!?

The Rock is in the ring with Bryan laid out on the floor as we end the show.

Mick Foley: Ladies and Gentlemen, we're outta time! Goodnight and God Bless! Have a Nice Day!

Quick Results:
#1 Contender: Paul Burchill def The Rock
Asylum Qualifier: Kane def Kenny Omega
TV Championship: Mason Ryan def Kevin Steen
Asylum Qualifier: Japanese Honor def American Wolves

Beefy

Very segment heavy show, I think this is where the true new start of GWA starts. It feels like, a reintroduction to old faces and and intro to the new. A little surprised Rock got in the mix so early, I mean I can't see him working more than 3 matches and 6 dates in a "year." But, you strongly believe in Paul as a top guy and he looks that way to me. Crazy finish in the main event, like it, like it a lot. Wish you had at least one more match though, assuming this is a 2 hour show 5 to 6 matches for main stream wrestling feels comfortable. Even if it is just a match for the sake, you could wind up noticing somebody has a win streak and could build off that, you might have the inspiration to work an angle with someone you don't really have much for at the time. So ya. I like what you're trying to do and I forgot to mention I am glad Adamle is gone. LoL.

Thanks again for the comments. I'll be sure to catch up reviews wise on your shows soon. Bryan/Burchill is a feud that's been going on for over a year IRL and in the GM Game it's probably my most favorite feud I've ever done. So yeah I'm glad my pushing of Burchill is believable and you are actually buying into it. That's been my plan since I started this feud all those months ago over the UK Title.

I know there weren't many matches in this show but it was purposefully very segment-heavy. Not all shows will be like this but we all need a segment-heavy show sometimes. Thanks again.
