Random Game 1

First Aid Kit is essential so that's my first pick.

Also I'm taking a knife for cutting wood, killing food, carving etc.

I'm also taking the rope, which could be essential for climbing, building something etc.

And I'm taking a pot. That way I can cook food and purify water with less hassle.

Knife - this one is pretty obvious, so I can cut shit, cut animals, cut anything. Knife has many uses.

Handsaw - I know I already have a knife, but this will make cutting down trees easier for fire wood and will make building my shelter a hell of a lot easier.

Pot - For cooking and this way I dont need to bring the water purifier, I can just boil the water. This has many uses too.

Fishing Rod - Assuming that there is a place to fish on this island, I will take the fishing rod, so I can catch me some fishies. I wouldnt take the hunting rifle, because ammunition would run out.

The key is to take stuff that will last and doesn't need stuff to be refilled. All about survival yo! Rhysus took a first aid kit, Rhysus that is gonna run out you know? Flashlight anything like that batteries will die. Ipod, well how the fuck are ya gonna charge it? Skipped the tent, i'll build my fortress.

Knife is a must.

Tent, as I wouldn't want to fuck about with making something. Waterproof straight off, can then take my time working on something with more protection and warmth that will function properly.

Pot for boiling water and cooking whatever food I catch or pick.

I imagine that if I've ended up stranded, I was in a boat crash or something, so my shoes were ruined by getting so wet. So I'm thinking hiking boots as my fourth. Comfort for my feet, and I don't want to run the risk of standing on anything in the dark and getting an infection. They could be essential.

Sery has my thoughts on the matter, anything that needs batteries is pointless as they'll run out soon enough and then it's just a useless object.

It'll run out eventually, but you'll get gangrene and I won't lol.

First Aid kit, for sure. It seems like a red herring, but it's probably the most useful thing on that list.

Hunting Rifle, mainly for defense. I'd likely be trapping or hunting small animals, or foraging for berries that'll make me shit my pants, but it'd be useful if something bigger came along. Unless it doesn't come with bullets, then I'm boned.

Flare Gun to gtfo outta there if a plane flew overhead. Or to inevitably set fire to the island when I had to wildly shoot at something trying to kill me.

Lastly, I might just be lazy and pick the knife for easy cutting. But the big bag o' weed is also tempting. No, the knife. Yeah, definitely the weed.

For those who have picked the pot to cook with & boil water. How are you going to get heat, if you have not picked the matches?

I would like to think I could start a fire without a match. Would like to think. In practice I'd probably fail miserably and be cold.

Who is to say that there is no fresh water some where on the island? The matches would end up running out, so you would have to resort to other ways of making a fire eventually anyways. You could also collect rain water.

Among many other uses, the knife could be used to light a fire, especially if you can find a hunk of flint or something else to make a spark.

So yeah, for me it's be a knife, cus you can do just about everything with one.

Some rope, so you can make traps, or tie your shelter together.

A pot, cooking, purifying any fresh water or maybe even rigging up a condenser system using large leaves to catch the steam and run it down into a coconut shell or something (knife strikes again!)

And finally, the hammock. You're always better off sleeping off the floor. Plus, if I couldn't find any suitable leaves, I could use that as a condenser. :-)

It's like the riddle you're in a desert. In front of you is a cactus, to your left a turtle, and to your right a glass of water. What do you do?

Everyone either chooses to give the water to the turtle or drink the water themselves. The truly smart go with the obvious answer and question why a turtle is in the god Damn desert!

I didn't mention it but i took my chances with the raft too... i'll be right behind you Senny, also i made a pipe out of a rock on the island and i have 5oz of pot and matches... and a fishing pole. raw fish!

The brief says its a deserted island, so I take that to mean there is nothing there. Once the fire is lit, you wouldn't need to keep using the matches. Rain water is a good idea but its all down to precipitation levels and if there are lots of washed up bottles to store it all in.

The raft approach is a good idea. You would also need the fishing rod for food, water purifier for a water and probably the tarp or the tent. I Imagine it would be pretty hot, so you would need some coverage so you don't get heatstroke.

How do you know which way to sail with the boat? You could end up in the middle of the largest ocean, then a storm hits and you'd wish you just stayed on the island.

Yeah and if your on some island in the pacific or something your little inflatable raft is gonna get capsized pretty quickly lol.

How are you going to start a fire in an inflatable raft? Wouldn't the material melt? The best bet if you wanna survive would be to stay on the island and survive. The ocean is a suicide mission in that inflatable raft.

None of that really matters...  you will either run out of resources on the island and die slow while going mad... or you'll either make it or die at sea.... i figured i'd just take my chances. of running into a ship at sea like Tom Hanks did.

also i'm kinda smart with stars and stuff like that... no promises but i think i'd have a shot.

Well if I'm on a deserted island I must have crashed there either by boat or plain. Either way I'll know which way I came from so common sense would be to travel back that direction. Also with the raft, considering again I arrived by plane or ship will have equipped a sort of tent enclosure that all inflatable life rafts now come with to protect someone lost at sea from the harsh elements. These raft are also hard to deflate or damage.

You guys really over think this stuff...

1. Knife - seems like a no-brainer really.
2. Hiking boots - keeps my feet safe and comfortable
3. First Aid kit - if I've crashed, I might be hurt.  Best to patch myself up
4. Tarp - shelter from the elements, and easy to carry around

A compass would be tempting, but if the island is like The Island from Lost then it'd be pretty useless.  Rope is a good one, but you might be able to make (crap) rope from things on the island.  Leaves can be used for toilet paper, and the tarp would cover the sunscreen and tent.
