Back to 2007 this time. The story about this Pay Per View is that John Cena got injured and that he had to vacate the title. I remember back then when this happened, while it was unfortunate that he got injured, it would be nice to have a little break from Cena. This show would end up being a weird one.

Vince comes out to the ring, says we need a new champ, brings out Orton to give and gives him the belt. Just like that. Triple H comes out and of course tells Vince he doesn't have the balls to put him against Orton and a bunch of other stuff that pissed Vince off, so how will Vince get him back? He'll have him face Randy Orton for the title of course!!! This segment was way to long, this could have been accomplished in half the time. But in typical Triple H fashion we have to wait for him to cut a 10 minute promo to get his point across. The match starts right away. One of three matches that would happen on this show with Triple H. Quick note here, does anyone else remember Regal as GM? Man he was fun.

Triple H defeated Randy Orton (c)
- So the show kicks off with a title match. Has a PPV ever started that way? With a World title match? This was pretty cool. Orton and Triple H are capable of having pretty good matches and this one was pretty solid. So the newly crown champ Randy Orton loses it right away to Triple H. I've always wonder if Orton gets credited for this championship run of 12 minutes. Like he was handed the belt, do the WWE count that to boost up his title reign count? I don't know, but Triple H wins. He would wrestle two more times in the PPV.

Mr. Kennedy, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch defeated Jeff Hardy, Paul London and Brian Kendrick
- So I love Jeff Hardy, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick, but I don't really care for anyone on the other team. Maybe Kennedy, he has his moments, and at this point they had nothing going for Kennedy. They announced him as a surprise partner. So this is a short match and it is about what you expected. A decent match, that could have gone way better if it would have been given more time. I guess we needed a 20 minute promo though to open the Pay Per View...

CM Punk (c) defeated Big Daddy V (with Matt Striker) by disqualification
- Talk about garbage here. This match was for the ECW title, and probably due to time limits is why it only lasted a bit over a minute. CM Punk basically gets attacked by Matt Striker from the outside and the ref calls for the bell. What the hell was this? How does this make any one in the match look good? I'm sure Big Daddy V could have handled himself, he's a pretty big dude. This was a DUD. Why even waste time putting it on the show?

So this was back during MVP and Matt Hardy's feud. Where they were doing a bunch of contests and MVP just couldnt beat Matt at anything. I really remember loving this feud. They had good chemistry and were doing some creative things. Plus MVP's excuses about why he lost were so great. I remember them having a basketball shooting contest and MVP missed and blamed his shoes on saying they werent tight enough. Me explaining it doesn't do it justice. Anyways tonight they have a pizza eating contest. Matt wins. This could have happened on Smackdown. Why not give the ECW Championship match more time?

Triple H (c) defeated Umaga
- So Vince McMahon made this match a title match. Second time of the night Triple H has to defend his belt. This match wasn't really anything to write home about. Just Triple H basically running through Umaga like he's some chump in 6 minutes. Do you guys remember when Umaga was one of the most dominant and scary wrestlers on the roster? Like he was OVER big time as a killer heel. Then Cena got ahold of him and then Triple H put the nail in his coffin in a series of matches. Effectively making it so no one would ever take him seriously ever again. Which is a shame because he was talented. But Super H retains his title once again!

Finlay vs. Rey Mysterio ended in a no contest
- Finlay's run in the WWE is so forgettable to me. He really never did anything. But he was a solid worker. So they run this angle where Finlay hurts his neck some how and has to get stretchered out of the arena. So the EMTs put him on the stretcher and haul him out, but Finlay breaks lose because they didn't strap him down, and grabs the Shilalay and whacks Rey in the back with it. The match ended in a no contest. What was the strategy here? Just to beat Rey up? Did Finlay not want to win the match? Man some of the booking during this time was head scratching. Once again this could have happened on Smackdown. Forgettable.

Beth Phoenix defeated Candice Michelle (c)
- Man does anyone remember at one point Candice Michelle was the Womens Champ? This match is about as bad as you expected. But atleast it was short. Beth wins the title from Candice and we can all rejoice. There really isn't much to say about this match. Candice was terrible in the ring and botched so many things.

Batista (c) defeated The Great Khali (with Ranjin Singh)
- So this was the second and last Punjabi Prison match in WWE history and thank the lord we never have to see one of these things again. Personally I thought the first one between Khali and Big Show was better. But thats like comparing a gun shot wound to a knife wound. Batista tried his best to make this entertaining but his opponent is the Great Khali and with Batista not being that talented himself... This match falls flat. The whole gimmick was terrible. There are four doors, they open at a certain time, then they stay open for a certain amount of time then close, when one has closed it won't open again. So once all four doors close.. You are screwed. Batista wins,.. I hated how much they were pushing Khali back around this time. Couldnt everyone see it wasn't worth it?

Randy Orton defeated Triple H (c)
- Alright so Vince made another title match for Triple H! Because he's going to stack the odds against him that mean old man. This time its a last man standing match for the title with Orton again. Now this match is pretty good. Its the match of the night, really the only good match of the night to be honest, well their first match was pretty decent too. They get pretty brutal with each other but I guess my only gripe is. Why did it take so much to beat Triple H? This makes Orton look terrible. The dude had two pervious matches before this and then it takes 20 minutes to beat Triple H in a last man standing match where anything goes? I guess Triple H has to look damn near invincible to lose the title right? Anyways, I was glad to see Orton walk out with the title. I was so mad when watching this live when he lost to Trips in the opening match. This gives Triple H another reign on his count and Orton's reign count gets bumped up two on this show. Weird show.

So this show was terrible. There was hardly anything that I enjoyed.  But it was memorable because of the three championship matches that happened. But every other match just wasn't good. So Orton would hold the belt till Backlash 2008 if I remember correctly. So thats a pretty solid reign. Cena would return early as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble 2008 in MSG and win the Rumble.. The one thing about Orton's reign though is that he walked out of Mania as the champ. I didn't think their was a shot in hell of that happened, especially since the match had Cena and Triple H in it.

There must be a lot. Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan at the WrestleMania in Florida springs to mind.

Better than Essa

I hated this show. Well, I hated Triple H on this show. It was such a relief to be rid of Cena, but we ended up being left with something just as bad.

So Orton is handed the belt, that's bad enough, but then Triple H shows up and demands a match for no reason. He wins, clean, and then goes on to beat Umaga too before dropping the belt back without actually being pinned. Have to keep Huntor looking strong.

This was also the show we were led to believe Jericho was going to return on. His SAVE_US.222 videos had various codes written in that we all scoured over to find something meaningful, and there was one that said 07OCT. This show took place on October 7th, 2007, so we all assumed this would be it. Apparently the plan was for Jericho to 'save us' from Cena's reign of terror, so when Cena went down plans had to change and instead he came back a few weeks later to 'save us' from Orton's robotic voice or some such bullshit. I'm still pretty sure the plan was for him to be there that night, but Vince opened the show by killing our hopes by responding to a Y2J chant with "You're not going to get that."

I debated with eckology at the time that this wasn't strictly a bait and switch. He said they led us to believe he'd be there and then pulled him, I said they didn't actually advertise that he'd be there so it doesn't count as false advertising. That's my lasting memory of this show.

Ah I forgot that was during that whole ordeal! Then he had that feud with JBL, man it's so easy to forget Jericho was face for a little bit when he returned.
