You knew it wouldn't be long before a former wrestler died this year... it seems to be becoming a yearly thing.

RIP Axl Rotten, who was 44 and it seems like a lot of his problems in life were related to what he put his body through to entertain fans. Seeing reports saying that it's from a drug overdose, with people close to him saying that he was in so much pain it's no surprise. Shame really as 44 is young and must have been awful being in that much pain for what was really a short career.

Axl Rotten, real name Brian Knighton, was found deceased today at the age of 44 in Baltimore, Maryland. According to PWInsider, he was found by authorities in a motel.

WWE issued the following statement on his passing on Thursday evening:

WWE is saddened to learn of reports that Brian Knighton, best known for competing in ECW as Axl Rotten from 1993 to 1999, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Knighton’s family, friends and fans.

Rotten suffered from a spine injury in recent years that forced him out of the ring. He was living in Anchorage Rehab Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

The Moon Maiden

Late start this year - sorry to be so morbid, but there it is I mean... every year it's the same deal,  wrestling fans know what to expect now.

RIP to an Extreme original.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker

Hopefully this will be far less frequent with the new generation of wrestlers. RIP Axl.

The Blue Print

The Baltimore Sun has confirmed the cause of death of ECW Original Axl Rotten was due to an accidental drug overdose.

The Office of the Chief Examiner in Baltimore confirmed the ruling this week, with a police report saying Knighton was found on the floor in a bathroom stall, with drug paraphernalia placed on the infant changing table. It was also noted in the report that an unlabeled pill bottle with capsules full of a “brownish substance” was placed upon the towel dispenser, and was suspected by police to be heroin.

Can't really say that I am shocked, still sad.
