Real simple. What would happen or would currently be happening if something went different with a wrestlers fate? For instance,

Where would Nigel McGuinness be today on a wrestling level if he never was forced to retire?

Beefy

I'm not confident he would have stayed in TNA. I think he would have wrestled in ROH and still be in ROH as one if their top guys. If his health concerns were not a thing, he might be in WWE right now as a Cesaro type guy, sky high potential but never clicked so hes stuck in the lowest mid card spot possible.

He wasn't forced to retire, he chose to. He had a biceps injury that kept him out of WWE, he got surgery and is fine now, and he had a hep B scare which is very manageable, especially now WWE doesn't do blood. X Pac still wrestles regularly and has had hep C for years. This was brought up to him around the time his documentary came out and he said something stupid like "I'd never thought of that." He was so focused on how his career was over that he didn't realise his career didn't have to be over.

Where would these three guys be right now in the wrestling industry if they didn't die in their prime?

- Owen Hart
- Eddie Guerrero
- Chris Benoit

Benoit would be in jail.

Guerrero would likely be retired as he'd be 48 this year.

Hart definitely retired.

Guerrero and Hart would have had great careers though. Same if Benoit if he hadn't taken to many hits to the head. Even if he hadn't gone crazy, I reckon he'd have retired not too long after for concussion or something... a good brain scan would have told them that he shouldn't continue taking knocks to the head.

Almost God like? Maybe...

Hart wouldn't have been in the wwe much longer tbh. He asked vince for his release after brett went, vince said no so he was running his contract down.  He wasn't a big enough star for vince to resign after wcw went down, so who knows where he'd end up, but he wouldn't have had a stella career, and if wcw weren't pushing Brett then owen wouldn't been any more than a glorified jobber.

Benoit was going no where, and had just been moved to ecw.  Can't see that he would've turned it around as vince only rates small wrestlers if they can talk, and benoit was never a cm punk type talker.

Eddie was slightly different as he could talk, wrestle and was over. But I can't see that he would've climbed the highs of being world champion again.

Not sure about Benoit and Eddie retiring. Well Benoit somewhat retiring. I'm pretty sure they sent him to ECW to mentor the young wrestlers so I can see him still doing that till today.

Guerrero I think is still wrestling just not full time. And with Eddie still alive, we get not heel GM Vickie. So maybe guys like Edge and Dolph don't benefit from heel pushes.

What if HHH never got suspended for the KLIQ incident and had went on to win the now infamous "3:16" KOTR?

If HHH went on to win that KotR, we'd be talking about WCW rather than WWF/E....

I agree 100% Austin was needed... they just didn't know it was him yet... it was a blessing disguise and i'm one of those people that feel the attitude era softly began that night at king of the ring i was in the crowd that night i was about 13 or 14 and i could just feel the change in the crowds attitude when Steve cut that promo... it was never the same again.

Triple H winning in 96 would have been about as poor as Mabel winning the year prior... not that H is poor choice but for that year and time against WCW it would have been costly... and he wound up winning the KOTR the next year and it almost seemed pointless in some ways... at the least it was forgettable.

I think Eddie would still be active, at least on a part-time basis, if he was still alive. Wrestling was his life and he was on the verge of winning the World Title off Batista when he died, I believe. Who knows how many more title runs he would have picked up?

What if Daniel Bryan never had to relinquish the WWE World Title after winning at WrestleMania 30? How long do you think he would have stayed on top for?

SummerSlam. It would have been him being killed by Lesnar instead of Cena.

Sadly that's about accurate. So really, Bryan's injury was a blessing in disguise in one way, as seeing Cena get totally owned by Lesnar for the title was one of the major highlights of last year.

Funny how wrestling's full of disguises in blessing!  Like Snake said, Triple H winning KotR '96 wouldn't have achieved much.  His '97 win is rarely mentioned and is pretty much forgotten about.  If he won '98 instead of Shamrock when DX was during its heyday, that'd be a different story.  Could be an idea worth exploring ....

Here's a "what if?" idea.  In Jericho's first book, A Lion's Tale, he mentioned that Hogan asked him if there was any truth to him leaving WCW for the WWF.  Jericho said yes, and Hogan took off his sunglasses and sincerely said "please take me with you".  With a bit of "hand-wavium" let's say Hogan managed to leave WCW to go back to the WWF.  Now Jericho's story was about July, so let's say Hogan got back in about September/October (Vince would get him on TV ASAP I'd imagine).

Now at that time Taker was out with his injury, Foley was slowing down and Austin wasn't doing too much with his neck.  Triple H was on the rise, as was the Rock.  IIRC, Triple H was nearing the end of his singles run with Chyna, before reforming DX with X-Pac and the Outlaws.

With Taker, Foley and Austin out, and Rock as pretty much the sole face to go against the heel DX,  I can imagine Hogan coming back to help out Rock.  Or, he could come in as a heel and align with the new DX.  Didn't that Bischoff/Bruce Pritchard talk last January say there was talk of Hogan going back to the WWF at somepoint and end up being the mastermind behind DX?

If Hogan's face, does Rock still win the Rumble in 2000?  Who main events Wrestlemania?  How does the McMahon-Helmsley Regime angle play out?

What if TNA would have stayed in the path they were in in 2007 - 2008?  Lockdown 2008 has their highest butyrate in company history and that seems where they peaked. Then they went into switching creative directions every few months or so.
