Bit shocked. When she came back I thought she'd decided to stick it out. Apparently not.
It's a huge blow for the division though.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
Huge loss. Rumours are though that she's pregnant, in which case it's understandable.
Not really that surprised at all.
she is talented but since she came back in the fall or whenever last year, she didn't seem that interested to be there and her Slammy speech kinda hinted that she wouldn't be here next year.
AJ Lee's departure from WWE was related to the fallout from WWE's Dr. Chris Amann filing a lawsuit against her husband, former WWE Superstar CM Punk.
Despite CM Punk's fallout with WWE last year and the explosive Art Of Wrestling podcast with Colt Cabana that dropped during Thanksgiving weekend, it appeared that AJ Lee and WWE would be able to keep the matter separate and not have it affect her own relationship with the company. When WWE's head doctor filed a million dollar lawsuit against Punk (and subsequently AJ Lee), the dynamics of her relationship with the company understandably changed.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that AJ likely called her departure a 'retirement' to get out of the remainder of her WWE contract. By retiring from WWE, she'll be unable to perform elsewhere in pro wrestling until her deal expires.
Well according to Punk, she's not pregnant. So there's that theory out of the window.
And there goes the CM Punk chants.
WWE posted a tweet not long ago saying: BREAKING: AJ Lee (April Mendez) has decided to retire from in-ring competition with WWE. We wish AJ the very best.
For more time with Punk? Finally had enough of how differently the women are treated than the guys? Just genuinely had enough?
