Daniel Bryan could have been gay

Former WWE creative team member Brian Maxwell Mann revealed on Twitter that earlier today that Daniel Bryan's character was going to come out as gay during his 2010 storyline with the Bella Twins.

According to Mann, WWE and the USA Network wanted to portray a positive gay character and the whole Bella Twins "love triangle" angle was going to culminate with Bryan telling them he was gay.

No word on why the angle was scrapped, but after Bryan turned down their advances for months, WWE eventually settled on Bryan dating Gail Kim instead.

FUN FACT: In 2010, USA wanted WWE to introduce a positive gay character. The Bryan/Bellas triangle was supposed to lead to DB coming out.

Wonder how that would have worked out. Isn't there still a good amount of Americans who are against gay people? Just like there is in some other countries.

I don't get why they feel they need to have a gay character. But then I don't get why people make a big deal about people coming out saying that they're brave - surely saying they're brave means they have something to be afraid off? But off all the famous people that I've seen come out recently has either been greeted with "alright, that's nice" or "we knew they were anyway, it was obvious". A lot of people just don't care anymore - or is that just over here (apart from the small minority obviously who will likely never go away).

Makes me wonder if they still want to do this, as they have Darren Young who wouldn't actually be playing a character. Although it'd be sad if he got a push just because he's gay.
