As cool as it'll be to see him on TV again... I just cant see this working out well. Something about the general look of him... great wrestler, as in WWE wrestling, but is he a good wrestler like actual wrestling - like Lesnar? He might just have good martial art skills, who knows... but I can't see it working out for him. Would love to be proven wrong though... I mean, for all I know the guy might have an absolutely solid chin and can take a good punch or two.

Looking forward to his first fight though to see what he's like.

This actually sounds pretty cool, I'm really interested to see how Punk does in the world of MMA.  As a big Punk fan, I might have to start watching UFC now!

Definitely interested to watch his fight, but I don't see it working out too well for him.

That's unexpected and insane. We'll see how it goes for him. Lesnar did well in UFC and came back to WWE a bigger star than ever. So, who knows? 😋

It could work out in his first fight or two when they will likely find some dude to feed him that he should be able to win if he is half decent... but when he ends up fighting a major UFC star i don't know how i feel about it... he does have some training but he is also 36? i wish him the best.

UFC really does have some amazing fights but the problem is you don't know when you'll get them... i got lucky a few times thi year while tuning into UFC to see just a small handful of epic fights.

I'm sure this will mean he will have to fight with Mcmahon again since he has that no compete in his contract but i know that won't stop him.

another thing they mentioned was that when Brock came to UFC they pretty much threw him right at the wolves with major fights.

Punk will get major hype in his  debut but likely will be fighting a ufc jobber.... on a side note i think it's kinda cool to see some of you guys saying you wanna check out ufc when he has his match... hopefully that show will be good and make a good impression on the rest of you. 🙂

His no compete has to have expired by now. It only lasts about 3 months doesn't it?

He left in January and was given his severance papers on his wedding day... can't remember when he got married, but it was a few months ago - plus he probably won't fight until mid-2015.

You might be right there... for some reason i had it all timed up with that podcast like it just happened but he got his papers back in June.

The no compete only goes for other wrestling promotions anyway doesn't it?

Not necessarily, it's anything that could be considered competition. Which is funny actually, given how Vince insists that UFC isn't competition.

I think there's also something to do with how a guy is let go that plays into the no-compete. If you're released before the end of your contract there's the 90 day rule, but if your contract is allowed to run out then you're free from the day it ends. Punk was terminated, but his contract was going to expire later that same month anyway, so presumably they couldn't enforce a no-compete for longer than his contract would have run anyway.

Del Rio had an interesting deal with his no-compete. He couldn't work for direct competition in the US for something like a year, but was fine to go to Mexico or Japan. It worked out well for him.

Either way, we're long since out of the 90 day period now.
