Nope and pretty much anyone i know who has bought one or the other has said the same thing they are bored with it and currently playing games on last gen consoles while these new ones collect dust... it's pretty much how it goes with new consoles very rarely is the launch line up very good... the games will get better in the next year or two.
I plan on picking one up in the spring or summer.
The cost of games probably doesn't help. £15 more per game for the Xbox One than the 360. Ridiculous price, puts me even more off buying one. Might as well stick with the 360 and the semi affordable games.
Its true. They charge way too much for games.

Indeed. But still, I refuse to play a game on an older console that's out on a newer one. Feels like I'm getting a lesser product. For now, I'll stick to old games that I haven't played, maybe the Uncharted series or whatever.

Stuff like that doesn't really matter at the moment for example Assassin's Creed IV only looks slightly better with lighting on the one/4 and nearly just as a good on 360.
Sucks to hear games cost more over there now... the ps4/one games are the same price as they have been for the last 10 years here.
Since nothing new is out i've been playing games i haven't played in a long time... Red Dead Redemption, has been amazing on a replay.
I remember we could get PS2 games within the £20-30 range, then with PS3 that increased to £30-45 range, and now it seems like it's £50-65.
It makes you think, when the next generation comes out, will they be charging £70-80 per game? Ridiculous prices. You pay enough for the console, the games should be capped at like £45.

I always like to think the video game crash of 1983, has left a mark on the industry i hope they know that people won't buy many games anymore if they keep raising prices... over here right when they were announced everyone was like i hope you guys don't think you'll be charging extra money for games now.... GTA V showed you really don't need to if you make a good enough game or even half that.
Exactly. I understand with more expensive technology comes more expensive games, but really, if the game is that good, it will sell millions of copies and easily make a massive profit, even at the reduced prices.

But it's easy for games like GTA 5, COD or Pokemon to make massive profits off name alone. When new games come around you can't gauge how successful it's gonna be because it's a relative unknown, that's why they're priced so high to at least turn a profit rely on good reviews and sell more when the price drops. However, games like COD or FIFA really have no excuse to make games so expensive.

Thats what interviews, trailers, promotion is for... all games that make it big are usually billed as such before release. "Buy this its the best game of 2014" "best shooter since call of duty" etc.
Gamers buy games that are advertised as the best around, even a brand new game series. Games are tested and reviewed before release for that reason among others.
My point is even a brand new game series can sell for cheap ( as in £40 or less) and if its a good game that will sell millions it will be promoted as the next big thing and I guarantee it will sell big.

I don't mind shelling out £50 for a game if it will be entertaining me for a good few months. It's not like I complete games in a weekend or anything. I like to think that a good game is worth it, no matter how expensive the price. GTA V was £40 here and it's probably the best game I've ever bought and the best value I reckon.
Since the initial post, I traded in Battlefield 4 and bought Need for Speed: Rivals. My attitude towards the console has changed quite a bit now because of the game change. The gameplay is stunning, I am bummed out when I have to switch to a PS3 for Netflix or other onDemand services because the generational leap is massive and something you can really see and feel. I still think the the X-Box One is the better one to buy based on in-store experiences but if you are a PS fan, you won't be too disappointed with a PS4 if you buy the right game with it.
So ps4 doesn't have Netflix? What about youtube? I use them alot so just wondering.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
No Netflix yet. Just iplayer, YouTube and a couple BBC apps.
From what i know or heard, netflix and other apps like amazon on demand ect are all on the way yet... honestly these consoles probably shouldn't have come out until like March from the stuff i have been hearing...
I agree more so with rhys on the promoting for games... look at Watchdogs or The Last of Us, or in the past Gears of War, Dead Rising, Dead Space, Bioshock, Uncharted, Mass Effect and Arkham Asylum after nothing but awful batman games have come out for over two decades... those games all were unknown and shown off and were big hits... Batman needed an extra push with the release of a demo a week or two before release and then i guess pre orders went crazy.
If you show off a game that looks good or offer demos and info it's going to be successful... even liars like Fable or Aliens Coloinel Marines can hype everyone up sell a bunch and be considered trash and find out they lied through promotion and get heat in return people lose their jobs... look at the mess that is Battlefield 4 which is broken and has been since it came in October... now xbox live on their own are offering refunds for dlc... and a lawfirm is looking in EA/Dice for constantly releasing broken games... EA also had the Sim City launch disaster.
I can see how its kind of a double edged sword for those in the industry its easy for us to say just promo/hype the shit out of it and it will sell... it works a lot of the time probably a good 80% of the time... but not always... and like i said people lose jobs and companies close down.
I know eventually with inflation and the way the world is so broken right now that i'll be paying more for games eventually but i really hope they don't try that until the games are hitting their peaks on the consoles as the developers learn how to develop on them more and more... look at how games looked on ps3 and 360 in 2006 and look at them now, while you play GTA V or Assassins Creed IV.
Same can be said about the PS2 and you could use the GTA series for an example there as well.... even the nes Kirby!
I decided to post in here again... i was thinking about the prices of video games over by you guys... it's actually amazing how cheap the ps2 games earlier were for most of you guys.
over here in the states, i remember old school NES games being $70-80 dollars a pop... it's crazy that those games way back in the late 1980's cost so much.
anyways i took my mom out to the store the other day she needed a new laptop her old one was junk... and well i just did it and bought myself a ps4 while she got a laptop..
so far i love it.
It sure is sobering to go from 60.000 gamer points or so down to like 25. 😕 i'll miss that but for now its a new legacy....whatever nobody gives a shit about that.. hahaha
Imty do you still have the ps4? can i get on the friends list? 🙂
Are they still making games for the PS3? I'm not getting a PS4 tip the price comes way down, so until then, I'm stuck with PS3 games.
They'll mostly be PS3 ports of PS4 games, but yep. The PS3/360 afterlife will drag for quite a while now.
Snake, I'm pretty sure there's a way to carry your gamerscore over to the XO. If you use the same gamertag, don't they jump automatically?

Yeah it works that way if you are carrying over account from 360 to the one or ps3 to 4, i had a makeshift account on ps3 with only a few trophies and a crappy name i came up with that i dont think i can change now... it tracked it down through email.
Dont worry about them stop making ps3 games... they have tons announced for this year alone.
I own both consoles, the PS4 and an Xbox One. I actually prefer the Xbox One, a better system all round, online seems better, media support much better, kinect is pretty flawless so far also - I am currently waiting for 'The Evil Within' to be released 😉

Hello and welcome to 4w!
I'm sure the One has a lot of cool features i'd like to get one myself sometime but for now i'm happy with my ps4 and even going back to my 360..sometimes... i'm also looking forward to playing The Evil Within... not sure if i'll be able to buy it at launch or not yet but i do plan on getting to play it soon... i'm sure it will be a decent game at the very least... the trailers look good and the director of the original resident evil game is making it.
it kinda reminds me of texas chainsaw massacre, the grudge and Saw all rolled into one.

It also reminds me a bit of the Silent Hill series, where you're in some eery town and everything just wants to kill you! 🙂
I'm thinking about buying one of the new consoles in the next week, so almost a year since launch, which is the best?
I have a PS2 and a 360 at the minute, and rarely play either...
I'm currently thinking PS4 because I like the look of 'Last of Us', but I'm open to either.
Can u play bluray on either console?
And I never play online, so that feature doesn't matter to me at all.

I only have a ps4. so it be pretty easy for me to just say get that.
They both have bluray now.
Xbox has more exclusives right now... none of those games really interest me though.
Neither require you to have a live subscription to use apps like netflix ect... but you have to pay on both to play online.. but that's not a problem.
I think the ps4 is probably a better fit... but i think you should get some more responses and think it over a little bit... hope this helped a little.
The Last of Us remastered is such a wonderful game.
Uncharted 4 is coming eventually.
Has anyone bought one or the other?
I've had a PS4 for a couple of days now and I'm pretty underwhelmed by it. At least Sony were honest when they said the console is for purely for game players because as a gaming device, it's stunning. I'm playing Battlefield 4 on it and upgraded Assassins Creed 4 and COD: Ghosts from PS3 to PS4 and all three are very good-stunning on the PS4. Ghosts looks like a straight port from one to the other which is disappointing but the other two, I can't fault them.
As an all-round system, the PS4 begins to expose Sony's corner cutting. Playing anything off of a HDD? Forget about it. Apps to catch up on TV? Apart from Netflix and BBC iPlayer, forget about it. The PS4 camera (£50 and something I've since returned) is basically Kinect v.1.0 with 50% of the functionality.
All in all, it's a mixed bag. The saving grace is that these consoles are basically 10 year devices so whatever I'm complaining about will most likely be amended in the years to come. But considering that it made a big deal of being THE best next gen console of the two big boys, the PS4 has flattered to deceive. I should've bought the One.
