I've been watching the first series of this show & I've been very impressed as to how to good it is. Especially as its on the BBC which doesn't usually stray too far from a certain level of decency. Its set in 1919 Birmingham and features the Shelby family who run a gambling racket which sways on both sides of the law. The three brothers in the family are known as the Peaky Blinders, and Tommy played by Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, 28 Days Later) is the main protagonist who is constantly trying to expand their operations in other sectors. Inspector Campbell played by Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) is on the other side trying to stop them from succeeding.
The second series which has just started features Tom Hardy (Dark Knight Rises, Inception) as a Jewish gangster & Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones) as an Italian gangster both with territories in London which the Shelby's want a piece of. The soundtrack is full of contemporary dirty rock featuring a lot of Nick Cave & White Stripes plus other Jack White bands. PJ Harvey & Dan Auberbach (Black Keys) also feature.
I think its coming or just started to be available on Netflix US.
