How To Train Your Mad Dog
Kevin Von Erich vs Buzz Sawyer - 11th July 1986
Here's a strong, intense fight between Kevin Von Erich & "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer. Kevin is over like anything with the Dallas crowd and its his mission to go toe to toe with the wild, anarchic Sawyer. The fight goes all around the arena using the fixtures and fittings as weapons, blood is spilled and pride is put to the test.
Extra Info: Buzz Sawyer is known for having one of the best untaped matches ever. His feud ending cage match with Tommy Rich in the Battle of Atlanta is legendary in wrestling circles.

Technicians In Training
Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect - 23rd April 1989
Next up is a wonderful match featuring two second generation legends. Both are finding their way as singles wrestlers in the WWF and this match is a brilliant spectacle of what they would become famous for. Bret Hart is still a member of the Hart Foundation at this point but they knew the singles potential he had from being able to make the stiffest wrestler look like an amazing athlete. Perfect is still piecing together his gimmick, he doesn't have music but has added the towel to his repertoire.
Extra Info: The Intercontinental title showdown at Summerslam was still over two years away from this match.

Super J Cup Finals
The Great Sasuke vs Chris Benoit - 16th April 1994
I was umming and ahhing if I should include this match because of one of the competitors but I'm sticking it in because its a great one. Chris Benoit under his Wild Pegasus moniker fights The Great Sasuke for the inaugural Super J Cup. A tournament set up by Jushin Thunder Liger to showcase the junior wrestlers from around the world. The match starts off with lots of chain wrestling, trying not to take too many risks but highlighting their agility with some nice sequences. As the match progresses, they break out the high risk moves which the audience appreciates. Then this leads to suspenseful near falls which the crowd adores until we get to the finish, with a move I don't think I've ever seen before.
Extra Info: For his part in the match, Benoit was given the WWWF Junior Heavyweight Championship belt as a trophy, even though the title had been defunct for nearly ten years.

A Feud For The Ages
Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels - 5th October 2008
Quality match here which is a part of one of the best feuds in the past ten years. Chris Jericho is in full on "self righteous" mode and is incensed at Michaels cheating and getting the upper hand on him. This match, a ladder match is brutal and nasty as one would expect. Jericho lost a tooth in the ladder slingshot spot and its surprising there were no other injuries. The heights they plummet from and onto little padding are scary.
Extra Info: The gimmick Chris Jericho played in this period was inspired by Anton Chigurh, a character from the film, No Country For Old Men.

The Spark That Lit The Touch Paper
Kerry Von Erich vs Ric Flair - 25th December 1982
So this is the match that set up the Texas territory, WCCW into a glory period with their long running rivalry of The Von Erich's vs. The Fabulous Freebirds. In this match Kerry Von Erich gets a chance at Ric Flair's NWA title & Michael Hayes is a special guest referee. The match is set in a cage and has Hayes as the special referee because of Flair's previous with the other Von Erich's where he would cheat to win. The match is more of a technical battle but Flair as usual gets colour to add to the realism of the match. The turning point in the match comes when a clash of bodies ends up with Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy slamming the cage door on Kerry Von Erich's head. The match continues but with Von Erich concussed and Flair spent, the match comes to a natural ending.
Extra Info: Ric Flair & Kerry Von Erich would tangle once more at Texas Stadium where Von Erich would capture the NWA title.

The Best We Have To Offer
Prince Devitt vs Zack Sabre Jr - 18th May 2014
So here we are, its Christmas Day and here comes the final match. It's a great one featuring the best of British & best of Irish in an exhibition match. Both Devitt & Sabre Jr are known for making their names in Japan but they have come back to the UK for this match-up. Devitt has gone for the Joker as his theme and channels him by starting the match at a furious pace. Once the match slows, Sabre Jr can start using the abundance of holds he knows to wear Devitt down. Devitt replies by including a chair into the match, this concludes with a hesitation dropkick across the venue's floor that sends Sabre Jr back 5 rows deep. The match climaxes with some snug sequences which sends the already vocal crowd into a frenzy.
Extra Info: Devitt's other disguises have included Venom, Hannibal Lecter, Spiderman, Freddy Krueger, Darth Maul & Bane

Friday Night Down The Local
The APA Invitational Bar Room Brawl - 27th July 2003
Today's match is going to be a light hearted one. Taken from the first Smackdown brand PPV, its the APA's Invitational Bar Room Brawl. Featuring an oddity of past legends, the remnants of the WCW invasion and a few rookies. Its like a wild west brouhaha, wrestlers picking anything up and using it as a weapon. At one point, Michael Cole wryly quips about a suspect thin piece of wood when it gets cracked over Kanyon's head, saying "that paper mache hurts." I suppose the stipulation is a last man standing match, its not like there are any rules to this one. Just loads of funny spots and silliness.
Extra Info: The wrestlers behind the gimmicks included: Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore as Doink, Rob Conway & Johnny Jeter as Los Conquistadores. And the Easter Bunny was developmental's, Aaron Haddad. AKA Damien Sandow.
