Mick Foley almost a former WWE fan

"GETTING CLOSE
I'm going to quote an article from July, 2014, called "The Sad Case Of Zack Ryder" in which I wrote: "Eventually, people get tired of finding out that the WWE Superstars they have supported with their cheers, their signs, their purchases, their follows, and their likes aren't real Superstars - and, little by little, those fans lose interest in WWE, find other interests, and become former WWE fans."

I am one of those people on the verge of becoming a former WWE fan. I'm tired of being told through Raw, Smackdown and PPV's that WWE superstars I have rooted for - from Ziggler to Cesaro to Kevin Owens aren't top stars - no matter how strongly crowd reaction seems to disagree. I'm tired of NXT stars getting their big "break" in WWE, just to be treated like jokes.

Six months ago, my son and I traveled 12 hours – from Eastern Tennessee to Orlando, Florida to watch Sasha Banks wrestle Becky Lynch at ?#?NXTTakeover?.- One of the greatest women's matches of all time. Last night, in what I believe was their first singles match on ?#?RAW? Sasha and Becky were given four minutes. At a time when WWE desperately needs to make new stars – when they need to give wrestlers with talent the opportunity to break through – they gave Sasha and Becky four minutes. I turned the channel, and watched a pretty good football game instead. I think I can get used to watching football games on Monday night again.

I will be watching RAW this Monday. Maybe, as is often the case in relationships, they will give me just enough to remind me why I love wrestling - just enough to keep me coming back. Maybe they will even give Sasha and Becky a rematch – and a legitimate chance to show the world what they can do. .

There is an old saying in politics : as Ohio goes, so goes the nation. Think of me as the Ohio of wrestling fans. If I leave, it's not just one disgruntled former fan; finding something else to do on Monday nights. Instead, losing a long-time, die-hard fan like me might well be an indication of a larger exodus from WWE. I guess we'll see what tale the ratings tell.

I want to stay. I really do. So please WWE - next week on WWE Raw... Just give me a reason.

Let me know what YOU think. Oh yeah, ?#?SockTuesday? is one week away!"

He has a point, especially with the Banks vs Lynch match. 4 minutes on a 3 hour Raw. Raw is too long at 3 hours anyway and this weeks proved that as there was so much filler. There shouldn't be a need for filler though. Put another 10 minutes, or even 6 just to make the match 10 minutes long, and Banks vs Lynch would have been a lot better... fans would have cared a bit more, get's them over better and more importantly fans will be entertained instead of being bored to death with shitty filler. They need to either drop it back to 2 hours and scrap the filler, or make a lot better use of the 3 hours they have... they have the wrestlers there to do it which is the sad thing.

Ziggler and Cesaro have been over for so long yet nothing happens with them. Owens is clearly massively over, and he should be as he's one of their best on the mic and is a great wrestler, yet I'd be surprised if he goes above being IC Champ. Breeze has done what since coming up? Not that I'm expecting instant results, but just don't treat him like another lower-midcard wrestler. Neville is the same. They have such talented guys to make new stars out of yet they seem scared to book them in a way that would get them over.

The bloke is a fucking idiot. He seems to think WWE give two fucks what he thinks. Retirement hasn't been kind to him because he has to make withering statements about his intent to turn off RAW to stay relevant. Didn't he smash a TV with a baseball bat because Daniel Bryan didn't get in the Royal Rumble. He needs to grow up.

Mick sure has become annoying... his comedy show was garbage too... he can't be thinking to clear these days... i had a Foley marathon of matches from wcw/ecw/wwe and i just don't see how he isn't going to end up with some horrible stroke or something from how many times that guy has nailed his head...  His tag matches in wcw with max payne/kevin sullivan against the nasty boys were pretty brutal... i forgot all about those matches.

anyways the only thing i kind of agree with is his comments on the nxt crowds and really a lot of crowds in general.. i'm sorry to anyone else on here who may take offense but i'd feel a damn jack ass if i sat in the crowd chanting "we are awesome" the chants directed lately at... the red head who sucks has been pretty good... i forget her name... eve? maybe.

He's not wrong about anything. The only problem I have with what he said is that he's not Ohio. People have been tuning out since 2002, they've been pulling record low ratings every year and it takes the likes of Rock to stop declining PPV buys. He's been hanging on for over a decade like the rest of us hardcores, this is nothing new.

Well yeah... it's all so bad that it's nearly 10 years of unacceptable wrestling. I just find Foley to be quite insane over all these days... i'm not really sure what he was saying he really wanted anyways... and the head injuries i was speaking of were off topic from the real topic... my bad there.

I guess one thing i just don't get with wwe and it feels like it's always been this way unless they were just backed into the corner is they just won't listen to the audience at all.... when someone they aren't pushing is getting mega over with the crowds then they should act on it quickly... they need to push those guys while they are white hot... i'm seeing so many guys just fizzle out now that they didn't act on when they should have... Ziggler, Ambrose, even CM punk was booked as a third wheel during his long title run with Cena and Rock.

It just gets to a point where the audience doesn't care about any of those guys anymore because they looked so bad for so long that it's hard to take them serious.

I could probably go on forever about what i feel is wrong with wwe as a whole... and it's really not going to get better anytime soon.... but everyone can see it themselves.

He's at it again.

    FINAL RAW FOR FOLEY?

WWE is at a real crossroads. Allow me to paraphrase Albert Einstein, who said "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results". Wrestling historians can argue about when the #AttitudeEra in wrestling officially began. But for me, it will always be at a meeting called by Mr McMahon in the Spring of 1997, where he admitted that what had worked for them for so long in the past (I interpreted that to mean one-dimensional characters that tended to be job-related) was no longer working, and that if they were going to survive, the wrestlers themselves were going to have to step up, and help create those dimensions that would establish the emotional bond between the wrestlers and the fans - part of the lifeblood of professional wrestling.

Today's WWE Superstars (I'm including the women here, since the term "Diva" had its time, and that time is done) are at a distinct disadvantage in some ways. They can't flip birds, and use the colorful language. They can't bleed - even when the situation seems ripe for it. Man, Roman Reigns's life would be so much easier if he could survive vicious assaults the way guys in my era did. But all the blood, the language and the violence paled in comparison to the real secret weapon of the Attitude Era; the FREEDOM TO CREATE...THE FREEDOM TO TRY...THE FREEDOM TO FAIL - the idea that going down swinging (I hope I'm not losing you guys in all the non-baseball playing countries) was almost as important as hitting the ball out of the park - as long as you took your best swings. There's a difference between playing to win, and playing not to lose: one breeds confidence, the other breeds fear. It's the difference between cutting the type of promos Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dwayne The Rock Johnson gave, and the cookie-cutter approach all too often employed these days by WWE creative. One style allowed for creativity and emotion. The other calls for memorization and recitation.

I hope I don't sound like I'm picking on WWE. There is a big part of me that loves this company, and always will. Why else would I be up at 4:15 am, writing things that are likely to banish me deeper and deeper into the WWE doghouse? One of my favorite wrestlers proposed a storyline that would allow me a four of five week storyline that would allow me to dig in deep, and swing for the fences - and in the process, maybe advance a few of the super-talented but underutilized athletes on the roster. I would love to do it....but I doubt it's going to happen. After all, I might want to do something crazy like go out there without a script, and try to create some real emotion - in other words, the type of thing that saved WWE in the late 90's.

The talent pool has never been deeper. But the creative flow is stagnant...and it's been stinking for a while. I quoted Einstein to begin this thing. Let me conclude with the immortal words of Owen Heart: "Enough's enough: it's time for a change!"

Again, I don't disagree with anything he said, but that's not the definition of insanity. It's the definition of perseverance.

Owen Heart? Who the fuck is he?

Here's a recent photo of Foley. You know who the guy on the right is? Its Jerry Lynn. Jerry is two years older than Mick and recently did a Kickstarter to help fund his neck surgery. The other guy is a multi-millionaire.

Mick should really shower... he is going all wookie on us.

I do think he has valid opinions probably more so than i was willing to accept last week... but really the guy is just preaching the choir  we know wwe is a big mess right now and it's not looking good at all.

WWE isn't going to give a fuck what he says either... if they don't listen to 10.000 fans in the buildings then the internet isn't going to fix much either.

Mick said last nights show was enough to keep him watching.... at this point now i don't know what he is talking about.... last nights show was a wreck and showed just how hurt the roster is... and for whatever reason no Kevin Owens last night... not saying he is making or breaking the show... but he isn't hurting it.

Kinda think Mick might have said too much when he said he may quit watching because he never had any intention of giving up on it... last nights show would have probably sealed it for anyone who was going to for real quit watching for a bit if the show wasn't good.... seems to have some sort of sock tuesday sale going or something... so really he probably just got himself a bunch of attention to sell crap. Nice one Dude Love.

Admin and 4CW Head Booker

The first two hours of last night's show was actually pretty good if you ask me. The last hour was disappointing but definitely better than last week's RAW.

Foley's son has apparently been hired as a writer. I wonder how much influence Mick's opinions will have on him.

That just makes me think he was full of shit all this time... it's not like mick didn't know this was going on.... i'm not sure why i'm being so hard on foley lately but i felt like something was up and now i feel like this is what it was and i'm still not sure what he was trying to do.
