I caught the pilot episode earlier this week. This looks like its going to be a crazy good series. Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson play two cops situated in Louisiana, trying to solve an extreme murder case. The story flickers between 1995 and present day where the two protagonists are out of the force but are revisiting the case. What happened between then & now is the meat & gravy of the story.
McConaughey's character, Rust Cohle is meticulously obsessive and rubs his partner and a lot of his peers the wrong way with his staunch non-religious views. A potential drug addict & alcoholic, divorced with a deceased daughter.
Harrelson's character, Marty Hart is a self confessed & self contained, steady, family man. From the opening episode, very little was exposed about him.
From the below trailer, it looks like Marty's personality traits will change as the series develops.
