Almost God like? Maybe...

This starts in the UK on the 7th of May, anyone else going to watch it (or has been watching it in the States)?  I'm pretty excited to see it, and hope it's closer to Manhunter and Silence and much further away from Red Dragon and Hannibal (the movie)

This season is just about to start in the UK and im already really looking forward to it and at the same time hesitant of its future already, because some of the sydications have dropped the show because of too graphic content etc haha... and Episode 4 didn't even air in the US, it jumped to Episode 5, but atleast in the UK we will still get to see the skipped episode

I'm half tempted to watch this as I like Mads Mikkelsen as an actor. He'd make a great Hannibal I'm sure. Might give it a few weeks though before I check it out.

I'd watch it if I were you. I enjoy it, took me a few weeks, but now I am hooked.

Really liked the first episode.  Quite dark, and believable.  Really like the interplay between the two lead characters.  Plus, it seems far more Manhunter than Red Dragon, so I'm happy!

Gotta admit, I thought this was one of the best first episodes I have seen in a long time and the limited interaction between Hanibal and Will make me look forward to seeing how their dynamic evolves through the next few episodes etc and it almost makes you forget that Lawrence Fishburn is amost playing a third wheel within this scenario.

Definatly looking forward to this season, but just hoping that they don't cancel it after the first season because of the possible reasons I stated earlier...

2nd episode wasn't quite as good.  I liked the monster of the week (the mushroom guy), but there wasn't enough interplay between the two main protagonists.

Was still really good, just seemed to dip in quality.  Episode 3 is on tonight, so I'll watch that tomorrow before work.  Hopefully it'll pick back up again.

I am not looking forward to Episode 3 which I will watch tomorrow as I read it is apparently pretty weak..

But what I am looking forward to is Episode 4, which never actually aired in the USA because it was around the time of the Boston Bombings and was pulled because of its content and they went straight to episode 5.

I do fear for this series though as sometimes, its the shows that the critics lve and are subtle enough to keep a core audience intrigued that actually end up being axed... And the fact that Salt Lake City have completely pulled Hannibal from their Networks, doesn't stand up well either....

Third episode was good. Better than the 2nd. Looking forward to the 4th after what Big B said...

Good to know, as long as there are some changes.  Still enjoying this show, and the 4th episode was also decent.  But want more focus on the series story arc and want the monster of the week format to be ripped up and thrown out as it's boring me already.  I can see me switching this off if they keep shadowing the Xfiles for ideas.

I enjoyed the 5th episode as it was a pretty short "bad guy of the week" as it kind of solved itself, but it definatly concentrated more on the overall arks to the show, if not the evolution of Hannibal, but more so the characters around him.  It was nice to see Will Gram finally begin to realise a little bit that Hannibal isn't perhaps helping him as much as he first thought in regards to the FBI etc and Will's character evolving was a nice end to the episode and made me want to watch the next which is always a good sign.

EPISODE 6 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Episode 6 started really well, and I was shocked with Eddie Izzard poking the doctors eyes out.  Shocking scene.  But, hated that Lector is the Ripper.  I mean, is he going to be behind every major killing now?  I was hoping it would be a mainstay monster (I know Lector is the main monster) and there would be someone for Will to chase for a few weeks.

So, so far, Lector has been the copycat killer who put the girls on the antlers, and has been behind the kills Eddie Izzard was accused of (I'm assuming Izzard did kill his own family).

Overall, I'm still enjoying the series.  A strong 7/0 for the 6 episodes to date.

I have to agree that as much as I am enjoying them trying to advance the major story arc and that being of the series namesake, Dr Lector, I was kind of hoping for a majoy story arc to find its way by now for the FBI, as far as they are concerned, they are doing just weekly cases and finding the killer of the week... Although this is the second week ina  row where they have failed to catch the Weekly killer etc...

Seeing Dr Lector serve up suggestive meals each week is starting to take away the shock value of it

I guess having Dr Giddeon (Izzard) held up in the psychiatric institution was a nice homage to Hannibal etc and where we first see him and his interviews with Clarice

Was hoping for a bit more between Will and Dr Lector this week, but I guess we have to settle for seeing a bit of Dr Lector's past and him killing etc

I am enjoying the series overall though, It could obviously be better in places, but I am still looking forward to watching each week.

This episode has definitely delved deeper into Dr Lector's story and the main story for the series, which is what Hilds has been waiting for I think, rather than a bad guy of the week, this episode just stories to further the main story arc of the series and was one of the best episodes of the season, not just for the story it told but the development of each of the characters within the episode.

Having Inspiration to cook a Feast, giving the idea that he had cooked his previous victims for dinner party guests putting on a show as he cooked them, definitely makes you think twice about what you eat at a dinner party haha... The mixing of recipe cards with Business cards makes a nice idea of why he is actually killing and the reason why it is so long in between the ripper's murders was to coincide with his previous dinner parties. Nice appearance by Gillian Anderson, and an apt description of Dr Lector as wearing a human suit and kind of mirroring his own patient with questions of friendship.

We got to see a bit more of Will Gram and hi unique way of thinking and how he comes about his dissection of crime scenes as well as exploring his relationship with Dr Lector a little further as the good doctor planted a little idea in Will's head and that idea grew during the autopsy as to try and hide from the idea of the Riper doing all the murders instead making the idea of it being the organ harvester... Using Will's own intuitive mind against him

Jack Crawford showed his hurt and anger for the ripper making this personal with him, admitting that his intentions upon finding the ripper is to kill him and how he is grooming Will for that sole purpose of catching the ripper.

For me, this was the episode I had been waiting for and is one that has kind of defined the series so far for me.

Great episode.  Enjoyed everything about it, and loving the way they have built the characters in this one.  Especially liking Crawford and his impending breakdown, I felt this has been building for a couple of episodes and it really hit today.  I liked the Gillian Anderson cameo, and hope she is in it more (I watched The Fall so want to see her in something decent again...)

All in all, this ep has wiped the negativity I'd started to feel about this series and I'm now really excited for next weeks instalment!

Another decent episode, altho I'd have liked more of Crawford.  Not sure I liked the monster of the week.  Just seems like they set the spectacular dead body plateau so high that they have to keep trying to raise it.

So far there have been 4 or 5 different killers that would garner world news coverage.  I'd like them to tone down to guys playing dead bodies like instruments (altho it did bring back memories of Dusk til Dawn and the vampire band...), and the thinking mushroom guy.  I'd rather it went into a more realistic murderer/hunter format for a while, and only bring out the big time crazies occasionally.

Still really enjoying the series tho.

Was a good episode, not sure about how Hannibal seems to either know every killer somehow or he copycats the killers he doesn't know etc...  Feels a bit too narrow, but am still enjoying it

The relationship with Hannibal and Will is progressing well, not rushing it but it evolves with every episode and the inclusion of Gillian Anderson is a good way to get a little insight inside Hannibal's head etc and allows them to explore some thoughts without it being too out of character.

Still going strong.

Almost God like? Maybe...

Just seen episode 10, and was blown away (until the last 5 seconds)

Genuinely creepy, great story telling and I found myself totally drawn into it.  Very much liked the monster of the week, and even more so, I liked that the monster of the week was secondary in the story.  This was about Will and his mental state, and I think that went over very well (the only concern I have is it now means we have Will and Crawford both going mad, when it should be one or the other.  Both at the same time takes away even more realism for me).

10/10 episode until the last 5 seconds, which (imo) drops it to a 7/10.

Why make it Hanibal?  I want Hanibal to hide and not kill someone every 10 minutes.  At this rate, he's the most active killer in history, even more so than God.

So, I'm ignoring the end and just taking a great episode away with me!

The last few episodes of Hannibal of gone in a completely different direction than I was originally expecting, with Will being framed as the copy cat killer etc, the series has totally evolved and changed and if you had asked me 4 or  episodes in, that in 5 episodes time would Hannibal be framing Will, I would have said no chance as their friendship was evolving and now I am finding it hard to predict where they will be going with it next etc, which is an unusual situation as I am used to having totally obvious TV and storylines shoved down my throat...

Definitely loving this series

I really enjoyed it and felt it couldnt have gone much better.

The only slight reservation i have is about the future will graham/hanibal lector relationship being warped. Im a manhunter fan and they are close to negating that film and the canon therein.

The official Poster for season 2 sees the iconic prop being worn by not Hannibal, but by Will Graham instead....
