Swansea City striker Michu called up by Spain for first time

Swansea City striker Michu has been called into the Spain squad for the first time for the decisive World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Georgia.

He replaces David Villa after the Atletico Madrid forward injured his ankle in a 2-1 win against Celta Vigo.

Michu joined the Swans for £2m in 2012 and hit 22 goals in his debut season.

The 27-year-old was selected by Spain boss Vicente del Bosque ahead of Tottenham's Roberto Soldado and Juventus forward Fernando Llorente.

Good for him. I hope he impresses. At 27, he won't get many more opportunities to play on a national level.

Almost God like? Maybe...

Not surprised he got called ahead of soldado. He's not in good goalscoring form at the minute (altho he has been playing ok).

How has llorente been doing at juve?
