UFC World Lightweight Championship Bout - Benson Henderson(c) vs. Anthony Pettis
Hard to call. henderson needs this to show that 'the kick heard round the world' was a fluke, and Pettis needs to prove that it wasn't a fluke. 1 thing is for certain, one day, benson's hair is gonna cost him a match, he fidgets with it too much during a match.

Heavyweight Bout - Frank Mir vs. Josh Barnett
Mir amazes me. He's the gatekeeper. he's been the gatekeeper for almost a decade. You need to beat him to get a title shot.

Lightweight Bout - Clay Guida vs. Chad Mendes
Guida is one ugly, crow-magnon looking MFer who has taken shots that have made me hurt from just watching them. he's so damn tough to KO.

Heavyweight Bout - Ben Rothwell vs. Brandon Vera
Vera needs this one to stay in UFC. Can't remember the last time he won vs someone who i knew.

Featherweight Bout - Eric Koch vs. Dustin Poirier
Don't know these guys. Can't say anything about them. Same with the rest of um except Gaudinot (but only cuz of the green hair).

Preliminary Card
Gleison Tibau vs. Jamie Varner
Tim Elliott vs. Louis Gaudinot
Pascal Krauss vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
Chico Camus vs. Kyung Ho Kang
Nikita Krylov vs. Soa Palelei
Ryan Couture vs. Al Iaquinta
Magnus Cedenblad vs. Jared Hamman

The Showtime kick won Pettis round 5 of their first fight. It wasn't as if he knocked him out with that kick. I don't see how Henderson wins this fight. Pettis is a nightmare match up. He's quicker on the feet with more power. Even if Henderson takes him down, Pettis is super active and dangerous off his back. Henderson CAN win but like I said, I don't see how. Pettis can win any way but Henderson is hard to finish. Pettis by decision.

Its only been a couple years since he was interim champ but I do agree that he is a gatekeeper now. He just isn't fast enough on the feet and his ability to take a punch is almost zero after the second Brock fight. Barnett is notoriously hard to knock out but if anyone can submit him it's Mir. That is the one place that he has the advantage over everyone. Barnett is great on the ground as well but he is faster on the feet and the better wrestler so he can dictate where the fight takes place. I don't see a finish here but Barnett won't shy away from the ground battle and I can see that being his downfall. I'm going on a limb and calling Barnett by TKO in the 3rd.

Guida's greatest strength is also is greatest weakness. His chin is great but he gets into firefights with harder punchers than himself and it costs him more than it benefits him. Roger Huerta, Diego Sanchez, and Kenny Florian have all got the better of him on the feet. He only looks good against guys with weaker wrestling. Mendes is a fucking monster and he has every advantage in this fight. Faster, Stronger, Harder puncher, better wrestling, better grappling. There is no way Guida comes close to winning this fight. Mendes by KO in the 2nd.

I disagree that Vera needs this one to stay in the UFC. However if he does lose here, he will be on thin ice. His performance against Shogun shows he still has all the talent that he had before but he just needs the right motivation. I don't see the benefit of fighting at heavyweight because he will never be champ there. I don't see him being champ at any weight for that matter. Ben Rothwell has been on a tear since losing weight. He's a guy who has good skills everywhere but he's too slow to fight Vera. I see Vera winning by TKO in the 3rd.

Koch needs this one to stay relevant at 145lbs. He was the number one contender a year and a half ago and has been shit ever since. Poirier was in the same spot. These two were set to fight a year or so ago when Poirier got hurt and Koch got beat like 3 times. Poirier was climbing the ranks and got to #4 I believe before he lost to the Zombie. Both these guys are exciting and talented in every area. Should be a great fight and the very definition of a pick 'em.

Quick Picks -

Preliminary Card
Gleison Tibau vs. Jamie Varner - Varner via decision
Tim Elliott vs. Louis Gaudinot - Elliot via KO
Pascal Krauss vs. Hyun Gyu Lim - Krauss via KO
Chico Camus vs. Kyung Ho Kang - Camus via decision
Nikita Krylov vs. Soa Palelei - Soa "The Hulk" via KO
Ryan Couture vs. Al Iaquinta - Couture via decision
Magnus Cedenblad vs. Jared Hamman - Hamman via decision
