Jon Moxley to make first NJPW appearance
After making his AEW dedut this weekend, Moxley (formerly Deam Ambrose (formly Jon Moxley 😋)) has a bit of a wait on his hands for AEW to sort out their TV deal. So in the mean time, he'll be wrestling with NJPW! So far it's just the one date, but who knows how many appearances he can make between now and whenever AEW get a TV deal tied up.
Could also be some good exposure for AEW with Japanese fans.
Jon Moxley to make first NJPW appearance on June 5 in Ryogoku!
Jon Moxley will be appearing in Ryogoku Sumo Hall June 5 with apparent designs on IWGP US Heavyweight champion, Juice Robinson. Moxley previously saw worldwide fame as a WWE ‘Grand Slam’ Champion and member of top flight faction The Shield under the name Dean Ambrose.
All month long, Robinson’s matches and commentary have been interrupted by a mysterious video stating that it was ‘time up’ for the IWGP US Champion. Sunday at Makuhari Messe, Robinson exploded during the Best of the Super Juniors broadcast, saying that he knew who the mystery challenger was, and stormed out of the building.
Earlier this afternoon, Moxley posted a video to social media that suggested he was the culprit. After checking the veracity of the post, we can confirm that Moxley is indeed the original video’s creator, and will be appearing on June 5 in Ryogoku Sumo Hall.
NJPW have reached out to Robinson for comment and will provide updates to this story when available.
On June 5 2019, the finals of Best of the Super Juniors 26 will take place from Ryogoku Sumo Hall, on a card that also features Hiroshi Tanahashi taking on Jay White in his return match. The event will be broadcast live, with English commentary on NJPW World.

Main Event · 977 commentsAs per Wrestling Observer Radio, the situation with Jon Moxley is that his contract with AEW does allow him to work for New Japan, much like Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. Despite this, there is no working relationship between the two promotions even though logic would seem to suggest for both companies is for them to work together in some capacity in the future. NJPW currently has a relationship with ROH, which is a major hurdle in any future workings with AEW.
Moxley signed separate deals with AEW and NJPW but because he hadn't yet made his debut with AEW, New Japan was forced to advertise/tease a "mystery man" who would face Juice Robinson at the Best of Super Juniors Final. Once All Elite Wrestling's weekly TV show begins in the fall timeframe, it is expected that Moxley will wrestle almost exclusively for AEW though Tony Khan confirmed that until that happens, Moxley will be working both "international and indie dates."
Some more details on Moxley working for both AEW and NJPW.
AEW have also confirmed on Twitter who he will face first in AEW, and it's not Kenny Omega like people expected. Although this could just be a one off kinda deal before they Moxley and Omega start a proper feud, which will be fun.
- AEW also announced that Jon Moxley will face Joey Janela at the upcoming Fyter Fest event which takes place on June 29 in Daytona Beach, FL.

Main Event · 977 commentsOn Wednesday morning, Jon Moxley captured his first championship since parting ways with WWE and leaving his Dean Ambrose character in the rear-view mirror.
"Death Rider" Moxley defeated Juice Robinson to become the new IWGP United States Champion.
Moxley used two Dirty Deeds double-arm DDTs to pin Robinson this morning to win the title in Japan at the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Best of the Super Juniors Finals event.
Death Rider is a cool as fuck finisher as well. Much better than his Dirty Deads finisher, even if it is similar in a way. Mainly because it looks vicious. I always found his finisher to be pretty weak, but this one I love.

I thought it was a fantastic match. Moxley looks and works like an entirely different wrestler than he was in WWE.

Main Event · 555 commentsIf it wasn't for that Will Ospreay Vs Shingo Takagi match that night (candidate for match of the year), Moxley's match would have been the best of the night. You can tell that this is the style that Moxley wanted to use in the WWE.
