He's always made a big deal about how his retirement was permanent and he wouldn't break it, so why start now? For money?
Got it in one.
I wouldn't say it even slightly tarnishes his career, he has a legendary career that involves returning from a career-ending injury and nothing will ever change that... but I also have no interest in seeing him come back due to the fact I liked that his retirement was permanent. However, if he is gonna come back, then I'll be marking out like the hypocrite I am.

I would love to see him back just to get a run with a bunch of the new guys. Imagine him and KO or Joe or Zayn.
Once a man would spend a week patiently waiting if he missed a stage coach, but now he rages if he misses the first section of a revolving door.
Give me AJ Vs HBK and I don't give a shit that he's gone back on his word. Give me HBK against people like Taker or Triple H and I really don't give a shit as the matches wouldn't be as good as they were.

They might not be as good regardless of his opponent. His promos certainly aren't as good.

True, but at least it'd be something new that we haven't seen before. Something that has potential, not the same old from years ago.

I can't believe I'm going to complain about one of, if not the, greatest in-ring competitor returning... But here goes... This just shouldn't happen. He's always made a big deal about how his retirement was permanent and he wouldn't break it, so why start now? For money? And another match against Taker just makes it worse for me as it's a rematch of his retirement match. Let's just stop with the memory lane matches. Why not help a younger guy out?
I have no doubt that he can still be good, but it seems like a really unnecessary way to slightly tarnish his wrestling career. He went out on a high, even though he lost... Why risk ruining that with a return after so long against Taker who hasn't had a good match in years?
