Better than Essa

USA are playing Honduras right now. Not a super important match, but there's nothing else on!

Earlier today we had the last few AFC qualifiers, Iran beat South Korea but both teams go through with Uzbekistan's win not enough to get them above the play-off spot. In the other group, Japan were already through and now will be joined by Australia. So far, these four (and Brazil) are the only confirmed entrants. Jordan were the other third-placed team, so they'll play Uzbekistan in a two leg play-off on September 6th and 10th to determine who goes through to the intercontinental play-off against whoever finishes fifth in the South American qualifiers. Right now that looks like it could be Uruguay, but there's still a long way to go.

Basically, I really enjoy keeping up with the qualifiers. There's so much more football to the World Cup than just the tournament. It goes ridiculously deep, including teams like both the US and UK versions of the Virgin Islands. They played each other, by the way. The damn Yanks won.

Anyone else following any of it? Any predictions as to who else will get through? No, not Argentina and Spain! Will Bolivia pull off the impossible and make the play-off? Will Uruguay flop out? Which African teams will we see at the finals?
