I'll vote Meatloaf and put in the band Nightwish as a challenger
I'll go with the Misfit, cuz I really don't like Meatloaf at all.

I love Meatloaf. Sometimes you just need a bit of Meatloaf blasting away in the background. He gets my vote.
And I will request Killswitch Engage up as challengers.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
I vote Misfits. Meat Loaf does nothing for me, save for a few songs and his Rocky Horror role/musical number as Eddie. Never understood his apparent mass appeal. The Misfits, however, are a mainstay of my punk library and Famous Monsters is an all-time fave.

Meatloaf. Saw him live once, was talk that it would be his last as he wasn't too well having just recovered from having a cyst removed from his vocal cords, and he sounded it at first... but after two songs he was brilliant. He's done a load since which is good.
Meatloaf all the way. Bat out of hell was one of the first metal/rock albums i ever heard and it's remained a favourite since.
4CW Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Triple Crown Champion 2020. 2 times Universal, 2 times Tag team and 1 Time World Heavyweight Champion.

A bit sad i missed this.. i love the misfits but meatloaf is good too.
also i would have used a pic of the original line up of the misfits... its just not the same without Glen.

Thanks for the pic. I'm likely not gonna be consistent in the line-up thing, i.e. I'll sometimes choose a pic of the most known or final line-up of a band.
Re: Danzig in the Misfits, I actually greatly prefer Misfits with Graves. Some of the Danzig era stuff is basically garbage, to my ears—namely the "Earth A.D." album. The Michael Graves era, to me, was where the most recognizable horror punk template came together. Most Misfits-esque bands, like Grave Robber (decent stuff) and The Crimson Ghosts (fantastic; punk fans and metalheads who enjoy riff-heavy, punchy punk should know The Crimson Ghosts, especially their 2010 album). On a simpler note, I generally prefer Graves' voice.

Hello, fellow 4W faithfuls! Welcome to Battle of the Bands! Each week, two musical acts (see note) will compete for your votes to become the BotB champion!
Under the terms of BotB's newest rule, Nirvana have been retired from champion status after 10 consecutive victories and are thus the inaugural BotB Hall of Famers!
When you vote, remember to request a musical act for the challenger list. Each act will be added to the list in the order they are requested. (Only one request at a time per person, please.) Battles will be usually be posted on Mondays, with the voting period lasting for about one week. I will try to post a heads-up as voting nears an end. When a band loses, it will be unable to re-challenge for 10 rounds. For the sake of variety, I'm adding the stipulation that if an act achieves 10 straight victories, they will be retired from champion status and the next two challengers in the request list will duke it out for supremacy!
Note: The term "musical act" denotes any band, solo artist, vocal group... whatever you like. Basically, this is an all-inclusive popularity contest.
Voters are encouraged to include their opinions of the bands/artists in the battle, or at least a few short words about the act they voted for. Not a requirement, of course.
Let's get ready to DRUMBLE!

Challenger #1...
Meat Loaf
Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947), better known by his stage name Meat Loaf, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor.
Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell trilogy of albums (consisting of Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose) has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. Almost 40 years after its release, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually, and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. He is also known for his powerful wide-ranging operatic voice and theatrical live performances.
After he enjoyed success with Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell and earned a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love", Meat Loaf experienced some initial difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. However, he has retained iconic status and popularity in Europe, especially the United Kingdom, where he received the 1994 Brit Award for Best selling album and single, appeared in the 1997 film Spice World, and ranks 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts as of 2006. He ranked 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock".
He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with worldwide sales of more than 80 million records. He has also appeared in over 50 movies and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His most notable roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Robert "Bob" Paulson in Fight Club (1999), and "The Lizard" in The 51st State (2002). He has also appeared as a guest actor in television shows such as Monk, Glee, South Park, House, and Tales from the Crypt.
Misfits
Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, the original lineup consisted of Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Manny Martínez. Danzig and Only were the only consistent members throughout the next six years, in which they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement.
Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music later became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock. After a series of legal battles with Danzig, Only and Doyle regained the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. They formed a new version of the band in 1995 with singer Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud. This incarnation of Misfits had a more heavy metal sound, and released the albums American Psycho (1997) and Famous Monsters (1999) before dissolving in 2000. Jerry Only then took over lead vocals and recruited former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone for a Misfits 25th Anniversary tour.
This lineup released an album of cover songs titled Project 1950 and toured for several years. In 2005, Ramone was replaced by Robo, who had played with Black Flag in the early 1980s and had also previously been Misfits' drummer from 1982 to 1983. This lineup released a single titled "Land of the Dead" in 2009. The Misfits' lineup of Only, Cadena, and drummer Eric "Chupacabra" Arce released a new album titled The Devil's Rain in October 2011. In 2015 it was announced that Cadena would be taking a break from music after receiving a cancer diagnosis, and was replaced by Only's son Jerry Caiafa II. That same year Soulfly's Marc Rizzo joined the band, also playing guitar, filling in for Cadena before Caiafa would move on to become the sole guitarist for the band. In September 2016, for the first time in 33 years, Danzig, Only and Doyle reunited for two headlining shows at the Riot Fest, along with original Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and second guitarist Acey Slade.
