Can anybody catch me up on 4w history since about 2005? I'm sure there were a bunch of hacks and bans, people got pregnant, hitchted, divorced, banned and left.  I'm particularly wondering about Spoonman and EoE; they always had great essays. Also how the fuck is Chux not still spamming the boards? How many people are still watching wrestling?

Hello, i'm probably one of the few faces from that 2005 era along with RD, Sen, and Wolfie, who still post here.

Spoonman i don't think we have seen him in many years.

EOE actually pops up once in a while for a few mins.

We all miss chux, he just doesn't seem to have the time to post anymore.

You use to to run the wrestling ppv prediction contest if i'm not mistaken.

The rest of us here are all cool and we support one another... we'd be happy to see you rejoin us here on 4w. 🙂

I recognise you by name but not sure if we were ever acquainted. Nonetheless, welcome back to the boards. It's always good to see an old face.

I recognize you by name, also. He (my former self*) was a 4W regular in those days.

*I'm very dissociated from a lot of the past before gender transition.

I do watch pro wrestling, though rarely of late. Like a lot of puroresu and joshi stuff. I buy Shimmer (ROH offshoot with only women's wrestling) DVDs once in a blue moon. WhatCulture Pro Wrestling is usually decent, too.

Welcome to whatever iteration of 4W this site is! (What have there been, like, 10 since the Wilcutt days? Still going strong!)

Thanks for the welcome back!

So does anybody know what's going on with all the old folks? Anybody keep in contact with some of them? I never knew Belly, but it's sad to hear he passed as I do remember him.

And what happened to the forum? Why have there been so many iterations?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm kind of hit with a wave of 4w/wrestling nostalgia at the moment.

A lot of it was down to server issues and inactivity. A couple versions of the board were killed over the years because I guess the servers died. We went through a quiet patch a couple years ago where we basically had no forum. We've had this one for a few years now, Benjawi is running it, and doing a great job, and we're slowly building back our user base. Old members come in now and again (as proof by your arrival) some stick around, some don't.

Lord Skywolf is still here. Jacobeam (under Dread Pirate), Snake, Sery, Ravnos (now going under Paige after her transition). These are probably the oldest people here you're likely to remember.

We also haven't heard from a few posters for a while, people like Kondor are long gone. Pretty Evil doesn't post anymore (although I am in contact with him), Essa's been gone for a little while but he could come back as he was here last year, same with Fish... and chux has been inactive for a while, too, but as far as I know he's doing well living it up with Honey Barbie, who I believe he is now married to.

I can give you specifics if you ask but since you're kinda before my time I'm not sure who the "old folks" are in your eyes lol

Well, yeah, I guess the people I remember are:

EoE, Spoonman, Essa HH, Queen_scoop, wilcutt (what happened to the founder?!), Sery, Ravnos, Snake, Cageofrage, Cereb, VernoInferno. Didn't know too many people personally, but the mind wanders haha.

Willcut sold the forums and all that to Essa in 2006 or 07. and he kinda rode off into the sunset from there.

Well that's kinda sad. It makes me wonder why people left. Did their love of wrestling/WWF get killed by the modern product? Did real life responsibilities catch up? Moved on to other pastures (e.g. reddit, facebook)? Kinda surprising that such 4w staples haven't checked in for what seems like at least a decade.

Wilcutt did post here once, maybe as far back as a couple years, just to say hi. But I'm almost certain it was this version of the forum.

Who knows what happened. I think some might have forgot about us completely. Then those that haven't and that may browse and post occasionally prolly  never get drawn back in because of lack of posts on the boards. Although in the last like six months or so this site has been getting better.

For me, it's honestly just a distaste for the current wrestling product (and by "current" I mean about the last decade or so) that really put me off of any involvement in wrestling communities. I think I dropped out around 2005 or 2006 from virtually all wrestling boards I frequented simultaneously. While there have seemingly been flashes of greatness (Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, namely), the product as a whole cannot keep me occupied for more than 20 minutes at a time anymore. While I occasionally wonder if this is because I'm too old, I then watch old Attitude Era episodes of RAW, or WhatCulture commentary, and realize I still love it.

Forums on the whole are basically extinct now, which is pretty fucking shitty, because they offer a charm and sense of community you can't find on Reddit or Facebook.

Anyway, what's new with you guys? Do you guys still watch WWE?

Afew of us still watch RAW, SD and PPVs together using facebook to chat. Personally, I still love it. WWE isn't perfect but for the most part, they entertain me enough to keep me watching and stuff like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk makes it worth wading through the shit to get to it.

WhatCulture commentary

I really like Simon. Adam Blampeid is awesome... love his "how WWE should book / how WWE should have booked" material. His idea of making Wyatt crazier and having Alexa Bliss use him by pretending to be possessed by the spirit of Abigail just to have a powerful pawn... them becoming a "power couple", only for Bliss to turn on him after getting some title gold. I used to watch King Rob on the regular, too. WhatCulture is good stuff.

Forums on the whole are basically extinct now, which is pretty fucking shitty, because they offer a charm and sense of community you can't find on Reddit or Facebook.

I read this and went, "Yep!" in my head. Thinking on it more, I'm kinda on the fence. I have too many other fun sites to engage with. But 4W is invaluable to me, for sure!

Anyway, what's new with you guys? Do you guys still watch WWE?

Once in a while. I like some of what I've been seeing... not a lot. Neither RAW nor  Smackdown's main event scene catches my attention. I presume I'm in the minority when it comes to the GM stuff from Shane and Daniel... neither does much of anything for me. I don't see Enzo or Cass achieving any singles success. They were a decent team and a consistent lower mid-card draw... kind of a waste. I'm over Cesaro/Sheamus. And so on. I like what sone of the women are doing and look forward to the Mae Young classic. Also, I fucking love Sasha Banks. She's a great worker; is fun to watch; seems so down-to-earth in interviews and a genuine wrestling fan; ...that accent... damn. All wrapped up in a beautiful package. Argh! Major crush. <3
