Joe Kinnear has apparently signed a 3 year contract with Newcastle, who men managed briefly in 2008 before retiring due to ill health. Not returning as a manager though, instead he's going to be the clubs director of football.

His main job will be to oversee the style of football that the club will be playing and he will be mainly dealing with player recruitment and transfers.

Kinnear says he will be there solely to help out current manager Alan Pardew, rather than replace him, and he is looking forward to sitting down and planning for the new season with Pardew.

Not sure what to think of this myself. Oddly I quite like Kinnear, the guy says what he things - like calling someone a cunt during a press conference. My doubts are probably to do with his actual job. Player recruitment? Like he's going to be able to persuade players to join Newcastle better than Pardew can.

Almost God like? Maybe...

I think the idea is to get pardew on the training ground more dealing with players. I dont under managers that refuse to delegate. I spend all day at wrk delegating tasks to my team.

Well... he'll have a lot of explaining to do today if the news this morning on Sky Sports is correct. Newcastle have apparently pulled out of the deal to sign Douglas on a free transfer. Newcastle fans have been looking forward to signing him for a good year as he's a great defender. Apparently it's Kinnear's decision... if it is then he has to explain that one as fans are going to be pissed!

Best news for Newcastle in 2014, Joe Kinnear has resigned. Thank fuck for that. "Judge me on my signings". Okay, Remy on loan with apparently no option to buy, de Jong on loan with am option to buy and the big one... Not replacing Cabaye even though we had 3 days to do so and we're looking at midfielders all January, it's not like we were short of options. Most useless Director of Football ever.
