That age old argument. One the vast majority of greatest of all time lists these two are often interchangeable at 1 and 2. But which one is #1? You gotta pick one!

I'm currently watching attitude era raw on the network with my wife, so it's Stone Cold all the way! :-D

Hogan made WWE what it was back in the day, but Stone Cold took wrestling to new heights. But Hogan kind of did it by himself, then was also extremely influential in the attitude era. So I think I have to give the nod to Hogan. Now if we go on wrestling skills, Steve Austin by a mile.

Austin. Wrestling skills far superior to Hogan. I also think he's better on the mic.

Bit tough to compare though as they come from different periods. I mean, Hogan was classed as good in his prime, but they were actually pretty shit. That was just the standard back then or something.

But yeah, Austin easily. Never liked Hogan.

But Hogan was just as active during Austin's period.

When he was older and somehow even shitter. When Stone Cold was in his prime, Hogan was one for the older generation of fans and his limitations were very obvious.

Hogan was the whole focal point to the NWO and WCW's ability to compete with the WWE. Im just saying it adds to my opinion that Hogan is #1

I wouldn't have Hogan anywhere near number 1. But then I wouldn't have Stone Cold as #1 either, but he'd definitely be above Hogan.

But then, Hogan and the NWO pretty much destroyed WCW, while Austin only helped raise WWE's stocks both during his tenure as a wrestler and since his retirement.

Not only that but Hogan also oversaw TNA's fall from grace too... So yeah. We can attribute at least the downfall if not the death, of two major promotions to Hogans managerial involvement.

Austin all the way. Hogan shouldn't even be top 5 IMO, and I think I'm being generous!

Didn't Hogan go off script and do a shoot on that and totally bury WCW because he was so pissed because of that?

And he's been involved in far too much controversy over the years.... Yes he was a legend in his time, but his time was a long time ago. There were also far better wrestlers competing during his peak, The British Bulldogs for example.

Based on what they did for the industry, Hogan and Austin are almost interchangeable at 1 and 2

This. When I think of Hogan, I think of him helping the destruction of WCW and TNA. His ego is ridiculous and he lets it get in the way.

You're thinking of the worked shoot at Bash at the Beach 2000 with Jeff Jarrett.

Fingerpoke of Doom was when Kevin Nash laid down to give Hogan the WCW title back. It was only the previous night when Nash beat Goldberg at Starrcade 98 to win the title and end Goldberg's streak.
