Random Game 4

With the UK getting a new Prime Minister and announcing we're leaving the EU, and with the US getting either Trump or Hillary Clinton to ruin the country, I thought it was time for a new game. A nice simple one if you will.

The game is simple. You've been put in charge of either the UK or US. You can make 3 changes. Changes can include how things are run, changes to laws, etc. But you are limited to just 3 things. Write what it is and why you'd make that change.

Discussions over it all obviously takes place here. But I want them scored and this will be kept private - send them to me via PM on a rating of 1-10 for each of the 3 points a person makes with 10 being a great change that you'd vote for 100%. Person with the highest average score overall wins.

In a week or two, I'll average out the scores and post the best voted change and who wins with the best score for their 3 changes.

All good?

Rules:

  • No editing the post where you write your 3 changes. They're final once they're posted.
  • Scores to be kept private, like real voting is, and are to be sent to me via PM.
  • Must provide 3 separate scores when voting, one for each change.
  • If someone votes for one person, their scores only count if they vote on everyone else's - for fairness in getting an average score.

I'm taking over the United States of America. By the way, thinking of just three changes is bloody hard work.

1. Carrying a gun is now illegal unless you are a cop or hunting. Being in possession of a gun without permission will potentially come with a prison sentence like it does in the UK. If you aren't hunting, you don't need a gun. The self-defence argument doesn't fly with me as the general idea is no-one will have guns who shouldn't, so there'll be no need to defend yourself with your own gun. You certainly won't be able to buy a gun in Wal-Mart at the very least.

2. Sports betting will be made legal as in most states currently it is illegal. It's a fun past-time for some people and it just seems ridiculous there's a blanket ban throughout most of the states. Obviously, it would only be through licensed businesses and there would be a crack down on illegal gambling groups.

3. I would try and implement some sort of permanent version of the NHS in America aka free health care for everyone. No-one should have to pay for health care outside of their usual taxes.

Wouldn't be much of a challenge otherwise 😉

I'm gonna go with the UK.

1 - You go to jail, you lose your human rights. I hate them. A lot of people do awful crimes and go and live a life of luxury in jail - comfy bed, the pillow they request, TV, gaming console, etc. Fuck that. Back to the old way of doing things. Don't like that pillow? Tough shit, they're all the same. Jail isn't meant to be fun, it's not meant to give you a better life than you have on the outside. Obviously certain rules apply - can't go abusing them, got to feed them... have the basics, the bare minimum. Other than that though, nothing else. You're in jail to be punished. Should feel like they've been punished.

2 - I'd change the rape law. It's harsh as fuck at the moment. A woman accuses a guy of rape, and his name is in the paper, loses his job, friends, etc. If he's done it, fair enough. But to do that before any verdict is given is harsh and a guys life is ruined even though he then get's proven to have been innocent. It's the kind of accusation that sticks. So no naming the guy until it's proven. And the women remain anonymous? Fine, get that when they've actually been raped as it's not something you'd want everyone knowing. But when it's proven to be false, get her name out there. How do they remain protected in those cases? I find it totally unacceptable that a guy get's his life ruined but the woman making shit up still get's protected. Do away with that stupid law. Name and shame if they lie and give them some jail time. If it's just a case that they can't tell whether it's happened and they won't say the woman is lying, then the case is dropped and the guys life isn't ruined when found not guilty (they would both remain on police file though just like anyone investigated about a crime, in case either one reports or is reported again). Seen a few times over the years where someone has admitted to falsely accusing a guy of rape and remaining anonymous and the ones that have gone to jail afterwards got very little time in comparison. Falsifying a claim get's the same amount of time as actually raping.

3 - write new laws on people being offended and accepting our laws. Seen it too many times now where someone has complained about someone putting an England flag up and how it's racist. Offended by Christmas because they don't celebrate it. Well you're in a Christian country so fucking deal with it, no ones asking you to celebrate it. I don't get why we're such pussies. You go to other countries and you obey their laws or you're in jail. You obey their culture or you're in jail. Could you imagine going to Dubai and kicking off at the things that people do over here? Not saying we should be as harsh as some places - Dubai is ridiculous for example. Kissing in public is not allowed, mini-skirts not allowed if too hot, men have to wear tops on beaches, eating times in public places, anything that slightly offends you is a police matter, legal drugs like cold and flu medicine is illegal and carries a prison sentence unless prescribed by a doctor over there. So wouldn't want to go that harsh obviously. But I'd stick to, it's a Christian country, if that offends you then fuck off. You don't want to obey our laws regarding hitting women, etc - then fuck off. The English flag offends you? Well you're in England, so if you don't like it you know where you can go. Don't like Christmas, well don't celebrate it, no one is making you but we're not going to stop it or stop teaching how it's an important holiday at school just because you don't like it (girlfriend is a teacher and she's had people complaining about having a Christmas tree in class because their children aren't Christians. Deal with it! You're in a Christian country and we celebrate it, no one is asking you to, just that you accept that we aren't going to stop just like you wouldn't stop celebrating your religion in your country). Basically, if you're in our country, you follow our laws and customs just as you'd expect if we were visiting your country. We've become pussies and it's time we stopped that.

Prepare for riots on that one. You'd be going against Americans rights. Not that I disagree with you, the amount of shootings in the US is absolutely ridiculous, and I don't buy the whole "I own one to defend myself" either, as if you weren't able to buy guns so easily there wouldn't be a need to own one to defend yourself. After the nightclub shooting there was a BBC article about how easy it is to buy a gun - it's unreal and it's really no surprise that there's so many shootings.

So yeah, I agree with you... but wouldn't want to do that to the US myself as there'd be riots everywhere.

While that's true, most americans I know (mostly from this forum) are on the side of banning guns. So hopefully the sensible people would outnumber the gun enthusiasts.

I also agree with what you said about "Rape Laws" anyone accused should be kept anonymous until they are proven guilty - and I think the same rule must apply to other things like murder and paedophilia. Being accused of being a paedophile/sexual assault and things like that can be crippling to someone's reputation, even if they are cleared of all charges. This is especially true with celebrities (Michael Jackson and Cliff Richard rings a bell).
