With WWE's brand split imminent, the company is reportedly trying to secure several former stars to make their returns to RAW or SmackDown.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted on Twitter that WWE has been calling former talent about coming back to the company. After the brand split, the RAW and SmackDown rosters will each tour separately and the company reportedly feels each side needs some additional recognizable names.

"[WWE is] calling lots of 40+ year old guys to return for the new era," he wrote.

The draft is currently believed to be taking place on the on July 11th edition of RAW, with SmackDown going live on Tuesday nights starting July 19th.

So who would you want to see come in?

Nobody... if they would have stopped that 50/50 booking long ago they wouldn't need to do this...

Dave is right... calling 40+ year olds for a new era... haha.

I know, it's the new ear with a ton of old guys haha.

But yeah, the 50/50 booking really doesn't help anyone. Don't mind it in some feuds as it can be used as the story with then not being able to prove who's best. But all the time is pointless. There seems to be very few people who don't get the 50/50 booking these days - jobbers and a select few main eventers. A shame really as they could have made some new stars easily if they hadn't kept on with the odd booking.

And Tyler Rekks, Fish? Really? Although I guess there had been an awful lot worse. He wasn't that bad really.

I honestly can't think of that many that are still wrestling or any good. There are one or two signed to TNA. Maybe it's time for That Lethal to sign for WWE. He's early 30s and isn't signed to anyone that I know off.

Maybe Kurt Angle?

I'm really struggling to come up with people.

Main Event

CJ Parker is doing pretty well as Juice Robinson in New Japan at the moment.

Bring back the Cruiserweight division and fill it with all of those who impress in the Cruiserweight series.

Dave Meltzer noted via social media recently that WWE has been "calling lots of 40+ year old guys to return for the new era."

On his latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, he elaborated, and even revealed a couple of the names that have been contacted. He mentioned that Carlito, MVP and Stevie Richards have all been contacted about returning. While he didn't mention any other names specifically, he did say that "everyone that's available is getting at least inquiries."

It's worth noting that one of the past talents who were contacted about returning claimed they are making more now working part-time on the independent scene than they were working full-time for WWE.

Forbes.com has since followed-up with their own report, claiming that other big names from the past have been contacted, including Bill Goldberg, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio and TNA's Jeff Hardy.

Carlito? He was okay, but I didn't think he left on good terms.
MVP - not a fan. Cool character when he started, but that was it.
Stevie Richards - he's still wrestling?
Goldberg - would love to see him back.
Angle - Same as Goldberg and could see both of them on part time contracts.
Mysterio - please no. Really can't stand him.
Jeff Hardy - they'd go there considering his drug history? Would be surprised, you'd think he'd fail the first drug test they did.

Seven names mentioned, and I'd only want to see two back. That's not good. Especially since I can't see either of those two working full time, apart from maybe Goldberg for like a year tops.

That's cool he's still going. Always wished they done more with RTC, they were great and Richards was the star of that group.

The Blue Print

I know Jeff Hardy has been wanting to do one last run with the WWE and I dont know how the Hardyz' TNA contracts work. I know they are allowed to do alot of indies and stuff. So I don't know how quickly they can get out of it. But I know TNA is looking to lock up some people into exclusive contracts. Jeff hated the WWE schedule too and TNA has made him and his brother the main focus of the show pretty much. But he's really cleaned his act up, so I could see the WWE making him some sort of offer. Plus he was one of the most popular wrestlers in the world in his last run.

Kurt Angle would be awesome, he could come on and manage American Alpha! They have such similar styles. I doubt Angle would do much wrestling if that were the case. Angle is so beat up health wise, I don't know how much more he can take in the ring. I'm shocked to see him still wrestling. I know a few years ago the WWE said no to him because of his health concerns. So maybe Angle has addressed that.

Rob Van Dam would be cool, but again, that is another guy who absolutely hates the WWE schedule. I could see him only being part time. Goldberg wouldn't be a full time person either. I can't think of many people who would be full time. Carlito being back would be awesome, MVP is awesome and he's out there. MVP has charisma up the wahoo and if used right can be really effective! His recent TNA run I would like to forget though.
