Brock Lesner Returns to UFC for 1 fight only

I loved how they did the tease for him at UFC 199. That was great, even Joe Rogan was confused as fuck as no one had told him about it.

I can't wait. Never thought we'd see him fight in the UFC again, given that he retired due to stomach issues. But if he's feeling good and healthy and feels he can do one more fight, then bring it on. It's going to be great, as there's very few people that can hit as hard as Lesnar can.

Surprised at the timing of the announcement as UFC 200 is like a month away. So late notice, and if they haven't got an opponent for him yet then they're getting less notice still.

Biggest surprise though is that WWE okayed it. Didn't think they would do. Good on them though, it's not like they're using him at the moment anyway.

It might not work out that well for Lesnar. He hasn't got a lot of time to train for the fight (they haven't even announced his opponent yet) not to mention he already left UFC once because he couldn't handle it due to his illness.

I hope he can handle it this time though, it would be great to see him go back and dominate even if it is just for one fight.

And he's gonna be at SummerSlam too, so he's probably going to fight a bum at UFC 200.

He won't be facing a no one. It's UFC 200. They're going for the big stakes with this PPV. What they're likely doing is asking around the other big heavyweights and seeing who wants to take on Lesnar at such short notice. Most are either training for other things, or just won't think they're ready to face someone as big and powerful as Lesnar with just a months notice - it's really not much time to prepare at all for someone like him. It'll be down to who thinks they would be ready come UFC 200, and I'm sure the massive pay check that will be coming their way will help convince one of the top guys.

There's just no way, given how they're billing the PPV and how it's currently booked, that they're not going to convince someone good to go against him. They want this card to be huge. It was a great card before this announcement. They're not going to then dampen the added excitement of Lesnar returning by giving him someone who isn't going to add additional excitement.

Id bet that his opponent was picked weeks ago and told to keep quiet, as Dana White outright denied the Lesener rumours on ESPN just hours before UFC 199 so they have gone to alot of efforts (including ejecting from the arena and banning for life some long term MMA reporters who broke the news before the announcment)..

Id expect the opponent to be announced shortly, but I wouldnt be surprised that this deal would have been done weeks ago as apparently Brock had held Vince to ransom again before WM and the UFC deal was what was agreed..

Seems like the WWE wins in this situation at least. Brock goes back to the UFC and gets more publicity and comes back to the WWE for Summerslam with a renewed popularity. Maybe I'll watch this, but generally I can't stand MMA.

It won't be Fedor, Belly. He has a fight scheduled at the end of June. No way he'd have a fight that soon after - there'd literally be like 2 weeks between his scheduled fight and UFC 200.

I know it wouldnt be Fedor.. But it was Elvis Sinnosic who had posted a mocked up image of the pair and got me hoping i guess as he presents the ufc down under...

Holy shit, that's going to be huge. Definitely know that this won't go 3 rounds then. Someone is getting knocked out for sure.

On the Fedor note, I'm surprised to see him out of retirement. He's not as good as people make out - he spent years ducking guys like Overeem in Strikforce and kept fighting guys in the decline or not on his level just to boost his record. Starts fighting people more at his level and he started losing - even Henderson knocked him out despite being a lot smaller (granted, he can hit harder than most, but still, a guy as good as people were saying shouldn't have been knocked out by someone that much smaller). That was really the end of his career and then he blamed that his loses were due to age and injuries. Nope, you just got found out by better fighters. No doubt talented and powerful, but I can't accept him as one of the best ever from all the Strikeforce matches I saw with him. Seen some others as well from other promotions and I don't accept them as they accept head kicks to grounded opponents which Fedor seemed to like doing - so those win's are meaningless to me.

It should be noted that the New York State Athletic Commission oversees both MMA and Pro Wrestling in the state of New York, and NYSAC representative Laz Benitez issued the following statement to LAW today noting Brock Lesnar will have to be medically cleared to compete at WWE SummerSlam following his UFC 200 fight:

Potential participation by Mr. Lesnar in an August WWE event would depend on his medical fitness and physical condition at the time of the professional wrestling show. No person is allowed to participate in a professional wrestling exhibition in New York State until he or she is cleared as medically fit to do so by a New York State licensed physician.

Also there is this. If I were WWE I would go for getting promoted on the UFC PPV over having a fighter appear on the PPV. But I'm thinking they can land both.

Since news broke that Brock Lesnar would be fighting at UFC 200 in July, there has been a lot of speculation as to what WWE would be getting in return for Lesnar appearing at a such high profile UFC event. It seems quite obvious that UFC will be promoting WWE in some fashion, likely the WWE SummerSlam PPV in which Lesnar will return to a WWE ring.

Additionally, PWInsider.com is reporting WWE might be seeking UFC fighters to appear in a segment at SummerSlam, similar to the way Ronda Rousey appeared at WrestleMania.

Specifically, WWE might want some of the female UFC fighters to appear at SummerSlam in an angle involving the women, and a particular name that has come up is Paige VanZant (pictured above), who recently placed second in the finals of Dancing With The Stars.

WWE reportedly reached out to VanZant’s manager and there was at least some communication between both sides.

This is a funny story. I guess Brock Lesnar actually arm wrestled Vince for his fight! Sounds like "vintage" Vince McMahon to me! I thought that was cool as hell.

During one appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Lesnar revealed that he actually arm wrestled Vince McMahon to get his approval to fight at UFC 200.

“I said, ‘Listen, old man, we can do this the hard way or the easy way. I said, ‘Do you wanna arm-wrestle for it?’ He was like, ‘Aw yeah, what the hell.’ So, I ended up beating him and here we are,” Lesnar said.

I love Heyman. He's been talking to ESPN and they asked him whether or not Lesnar as the "unbeatable beast" character would work in WWE if he loses to Hunt at UFC 200:

"My father was an attorney in the state of New York, which is where I came up with the term advocate. Very famously, a judge once said to my father, "If, if, if, if ..." And my father said to the judge, "I don't deal in ifs, I deal in absolutes. If my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle. She doesn't, so she's still my aunt and not my uncle." I don't deal in ifs. His answers are great. Most interviews he gives it sounds like he's giving a promo.
