Pretty sure he had a similar injury to Kidd although not nearly as severe.
He had a good career and the HOF Induction is a good send off.

That's a shame, but at least he's not paralyzed himself. Would be good to see him take a more active role backstage now too.

i had honesty thought he said he was retiring after he got the injury last fall... that's too bad but i'd rather he just stop now and save himself... cause he is almost 60 now and that is probably going to effect him a lot more now then say Edge when he had to retire.
TMZ are reporting that Sting is officially retiring because of his neck injury. He's been formally diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis - a condition affecting the nerves that can result in extreme pain and discomfort, and is the same thing that caused Edge to retire.
At least there'll be an end to the Taker/Sting rumours for next years Wrestlemania. Was pretty cool that he got to wrestle in WWE at the end of his career.
